So I guess the moral of the story is that if you play for a crappy Cleveland team and want out, pick a fight with one of Lebron's buddies and they'll ship you out immediately. I wonder if Lebron's power extends throughout the entire state. Could Ocho use this tactic as well?!

Mangini is such dumbass

Quarterback Derek Anderson disputed the idea that Edwards and Winslow were a two-headed monster.
"I wouldn't say they were always a problem," he said. "Everybody has issues in their life. They weren't here raising heck day in and day out. Both of them are really good football players, and will continue to do good things in their careers."

Let's see - trade away two Pro Bowl receivers and watch your QBs struggle

Crabtree signed, 6 years....

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/8/2009 10:20:31 AM)

That team will get better if he is half of what they say he is.

This might have given him more time to let his stress fracture heal also.

Packers Could Trade Aaron Kampman
Thu Oct 8, 2009

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Green Bay Packers could trade OLB Aaron Kampman before the Oct. 20 trade deadline. Kampman is in the final year of his contract. Even if there is no new collective bargaining agreement in place before the 2010 season, Kampman will be an unrestricted free agent in a market without a salary cap. For a player of Kampman's reputation, that would certainly be an enticing proposition. If Kampman is not signed to a contract extension before the end of the season, he could walk away and the Packers would get only a compensatory pick no higher than in the third round in return.

Too Bad they've put themselves between a rock and a hard place.  Teams will know they need to trade him because they wont get hardly shit in return...plus they probably realize now that he's not a good fit for the 3-4.  Other teams wont offer them much.  They might be better off with the compensatory pick.

Yep. Unless he either makes an amazing breakthrough at OLB or they go back to a 4 man front, he isn't going to want to resign with GB.

That would be SWEET !

Why can't they just line Kampmann up more often on the line ?

Because Capers is an idiot

Let me put in a defense that neutralizes our best defensive player

moron

Plenty of teams can use a great LDE - including us!

I also think the time is near for us to start looking for Pat Williams' replacement

Because Capers is putting his scheme ahead of his talent.

Something we should be very familiar with under Childress.

    Packers Fan Stabs Seahawks Fan
    Sat Oct 10, 2009

    AP reports the heated match-off between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night was apparently too much to handle for one Packers fan, who allegedly stabbed a man outside a Minneapolis restaurant after his team lost. Ryan Andrew Hinderaker, 30, of Minneapolis, has been charged with second-degree assault in connection with the incident. Hinderaker allegedly stabbed 41-year-old Leif Heide outside the Leaning Tower of Pizza on South Lyndale Avenue, after trying to engage in an argument about the game. Minneapolis Police spokesperson Sgt. William Palmer said the incident has left some officers puzzled, as Heide was a Seattle Seahawks fan. "The victim didn't care one way or another who won," Palmer said. "I'm not quite sure what motivated this guy to pick on a Seahawks fan, but he stabbed him." Hinderaker allegedly followed Heide outside, pulled a knife out of his right pants pocket, and stabbed the man in the stomach. Palmer said that Hinderaker had left the scene by the time officers arrived, but he later called 911 and turned himself in. Police searched Hinderaker and found the knife in his pocket, according to the criminal complaint. Heide was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

The sheen is off of Jeff Fisher:

quote:

The Titans won with Vince Young. He had an 18–11 record from 2006 to 2007 on a team that went 9–28 beforehand. So many people have forgotten that Bud Adams was on the verge of cleaning house because Fisher hadn't made the playoffs since 2002 and because he was on the hook for a bunch of bad draft and free agency decisions like letting Jon Runyan leave, taking Kevin Dyson over Rand Moss (and his brother over several good WRs), giving Kevin Carter $48 million, and drafting Adam Jones and LenDale White. After Young started winning games, Fisher was able to publicly pin those failures on Floyd Reese, but the truth was he was behind those moves, and Adams only backed Fisher because it was cheaper to fire and replace Reese with a guy Fisher wanted than to fire Fisher and hire a coach and staff that Reese wanted. But had Young not won, Adams would have cleaned house: Reese, Fisher and staff, everybody.

Yes, Collins did win games in 2008, but the fact remains that his career includes far more failure than success. That is why the Titans are his 5th NFL team, and why the Titans were his only suitors when he was a free agent in 2006 and in 2008. Again, both years Fisher was the only guy in the league who wanted him. The Titans need to go with Young, whose next failure to win with an NFL team will be his first.

I was on Cheesehead Craig about this in the offseason. I said it would not work. They should trade him. I offered a 5th rounder, representing the Vikings and Cheesehead Craig representing the Packers turned me down.[;)]

All tongue and cheek aside, I along with others felt like the 3-4 was a horrible thing to do to your best defender. They have taken a superstar and made him average.

He would be a nice FA pick up next year.

He has 21 tackles and 1 sack through 4 games. "Average" is being generous. He looks lost.

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/11/2009 9:55:50 PM)

I would sign Kampman and move him right in at LDE.  Capers is a moron.

Speaking of morons, does Kerri Collins have pictures of Jeff Fisher with a monkey?

Collins is 1-8 in his last 9 games and he looks TERRIBLE doing it.  The Colts have dropped at least 3 picks already.

Play Vince Young and if he can't turn the season around draft a QB real high

Randy Moss Records First Career INT
Mon Oct 12, 2009

The Boston Globe reports New England Patriots WR Randy Moss lined up deep on defense during Denver's final play of the first half and intercepted a Broncos QB Kyle Orton pass to secure New England's 17-7 first half lead. It is his first career interception and second pass defensed of his career. He recorded his first pass defensed in 2007 at Buffalo (11/18/07). It is the first interception that Denver has thrown in 2009.

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/12/2009 5:41:57 PM)

From my blindside, Tom Cable threw me from my chair and into a piece of furniture ... He was screaming, 'I'll f------ kill you! I'll f------ kill you!' And I have no reason to believe he wouldn't have killed me if they hadn't pulled him away.''
-- Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson, to Yahoo! Sports' Michael Silver, in his first extensive public comments about what he claims was an attack on him by Raiders coach Tom Cable Aug. 4 at the Raiders' training camp hotel in Napa, Calif. Excellent story by Silver, and explosive claims, obviously, by Hanson, if they are true. There will certainly be a wall of silence put up by the Raiders on this one, but if even half of what Hanson claims is true, there's no question the NFL will have to suspend Cable, and not just for one game. Because commissioner Roger Goodell has to put non-playing NFL employees on notice that he'll hold them to a higher standard under the Personal Conduct Policy, I expect if Cable is found culpable in the attack on Hanson that he'll get more than Steve Smith got last year in Carolina -- two games -- for punching out Ken Lucas. A charge like this, if confirmed, could be a career blackball for Cable in the NFL.

A sunday morning chuckler. [&:]

Report: Tom Brady is going to hell

Posted by Mike Florio on October 18, 2009 8:39 AM ET The title says it all.

Yes, Tom Brady is going to hell.

Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald pointed out to us this rather critical nugget (for Brady at least) earlier in the week.  It seems that the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina has usurped the duties of St. Peter and declared Brady's eternal damnation.

"Tom Brady has an unwed child, but it's okay because he wins Super Bowls," the church said on its web site.  "Tom Brady is teaching us to have sex outside of marriage, to commit fornication, don't marry and do the right thing, don't take responsibility for your actions, have a good time no matter who you hurt in this world, go from sex partner to sex partner, and it's okay because of who I am.  How many of you dad's [sic] cheer on Tom in the Super Bowl while your kids are watching?"

(Technically, most people with kids under the age of 18 have an "unwed child."  But we think we get the point.)

So there you have it.  Like David Puddy and Elaine Benes, Brady is going to hell.

And if that's the standard for an eternity of devils and caves and ragged clothing, Tom will have plenty of company.

Ryan "Son of Don" Taylor

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/18/2009 8:37:30 AM)

He hasn't played in any Super Bowls since he had an unwed child.....hmmm.....coincidence?

Tom Brady is teaching us to have sex outside of marriage

No, that was Mary Jo back in the 9th grade

Lynn G. -> RE: NFL News (10/18/2009 10:30:23 AM)

I love it. That toddler is unwed - that's a disgrace!

[:D]

djskillz -> RE: NFL News (10/18/2009 11:28:12 AM)

I think Brady's about to bust out, much like Peyton did last year.  The Pats will have a very, very good 2nd half of the season IMO.

Getting Mayo back is huge for them too.
