Three Eagles Fined Mon Nov 5, 2007 The Philadelphia Inquirer reports a league source confirmed a report on ESPN.com that three Eagles players were fined last week for hits in the team's win in Minnesota on Oct. 28. DE Juqua Thomas received a $7,500 fine for a shot to the face of QB Kelly Holcomb as he sacked the Vikings quarterback for an 11-yard loss. Holcomb suffered a concussion and left the game after his head bounced violently on the turf at the Metrodome. Thomas was not penalized on the play. Mikell was fined $5,000 for a late hit on rookie WR Sidney Rice during Minnesota's opening touchdown drive. Mikell received a 15-yard unnecessary-roughness penalty for his hit. LB Matt McCoy, released by the Eagles last Monday, was also hit with a $7,500 fine for a blind-side hit of P Chris Kluwe in the third quarter. (McCoy was signed by the New Orleans Saints.)
Yeah thanks for the flag on the hit to the face on Holcomb. Refs!!!!!!!!!!! :angry: That would have kept a drive alive. I said it at the time and the announcers were so busy talking about how he landed they never pointed out the obvious punch to the face. Do that to Brady or Manning or Farve and you probably get ejected.
Titans to Host Mike Williams Mon Nov 5, 2007 The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans will host former Raiders/Lions WR Mike Williams on Tuesday. Williams, selected 10th overall by the Lions in the 2005 draft, was a bust in Detroit, catching only 37 passes in two seasons. The Raiders acquired him in April. He played for USC when Titans OC Norm Chow held the same role for the Trojans.
What are they looking for a slow fat tight end. Can he, or better yet, will he block. He sure can't play wide receiver.
Does anyone think the Colts win that game with a healthy Marvin Harrison? Or do the Pats win by more with better officiating?
Harrison hasn't done jack this whole year. I know he has been dinged, but he really looks like a shell of his former self. He finally got old. Pats kill them by 21 with straight up officiating. Even Collin Cowherd on the radio this morning was talking about how obvious it was. He said that he could only talk about it because the Pats overcame it. He even had a Colt fan start laughing when he called him out about it, the Colt fan could no way deny the Colts got every officiating break in that game. Joke of the day: With the writers strike out in hollywood, The Letterman and Leno shows should just call the crew that officiated the Pats/Colts game yesterday. Why? Because they proved they could deliver a joke on National television, yesterday during that game.

I think the Pats would kill them without the officials, and will in January IF the Colts make it that far. Pats will go undefeated, no question in my mind. I'll never trust a team with Eli Manning as their QB to beat what is maybe the best team of all-time.

Redskins' Landry Fined One Game Check Tue Nov 6, 2007 The Washington Post reports Redskins rookie S LaRon Landry was fined $16,764 (the equivalent of one of his game checks) for unnecessary roughness involving the impermissible use of the helmet, the NFL announced. Landry was penalized for roughing the passer when he made helmet-to-helmet contact with New York Jets rookie QB Kellen Clemens in the first quarter.

Should have been a 15 yd penalty and a bigger fine. In fact the first time I read of the fine it was for face mask, not a shot to the face.

Jim Frenette -> RE:NFL News (11/7/2007 1:22:29 AM)

I hope ESPN is patting themselves on the back for this. They just did their Breaking News thing and went to John Clayton for the report. The report was that Pac Man wouldn't be back this year. Wow, what an announcement especially since he was suspended for a year and still didn't keep his nose completely clean. I don't anyone really expected his return

Patriots QB Radio System Fails in Indianapolis Tue Nov 6, 2007 The Tribune Star reports New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick said during his Monday press conference that his team didn’t have the benefit of the coach to quarterback radio system for most of Sunday’s game. New England coaches were reportedly forced to use hand signals in sending in plays to QB Tom Brady. Does that qualify as ironic? ;)

The NFL evens the playing field when one system goes down.

I heard on the radio that Don Shula said that if the Pats go undefeated their record should contain an asterik like Barry Bonds homerun record because they cheated. SOUR FREAKIN' GRAPES FOR SURE

Once the Pats hit 15-0, Bill Belichick may face a tough decision vs. the Giants: Whether to risk Tom Brady's health against the league's fierciest pass rush, on the road and against a team that could have a playoff spot on the line.

"LenDale White this season: 670 yards rushing/receiving, 5 TDs. Former USC teammate Reggie Bush in New Orleans: 711 yards rushing/ receiving, 5 TDs. White was the 45th overall pick in '06; Bush was 2nd. Hey, we're just saying ... " I always like White while others were calling him fatty!

I just wasn't convinced with his lack of work ethic and stupidity (both confirmed by sources of mine for USC) that he could live up to it. I'm still not over the long haul. At least he has Chow there to back him though. That is Mike Williams' last chance as well. As for the Shula stuff, man, what an ass. The Pats would DESTROY that Miami team IMO. Grow up, Don. So what? They would have beat the Jets by 15 instead of 30 or whatever it was? Give me a break.

djskillz -> RE:NFL News (11/7/2007 3:26:25 AM)

BTW, to be fair JC, LenDale WAS fat. He was WAY overweight. That was scouts talking, not just us posters.

Pacman's Suspension Won't be Shortened Tue Nov 6, 2007 The Nashville Tennessean reports NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided against shortening the year-long suspension for Titans CB Pacman Jones. The NFL this afternoon released a statement that says, “Commissioner Goodell notified CB Adam Jones today that his suspension will remain unchanged and will continue through the remainder of the 2007 season. He will be eligible to begin working out at the Titans’ facility following the conclusion of the team’s season.” I heard that PacMan bought tickets for kids in Atlanta to go watch his wrestling match. That was his community service. :lol:

Seahawks | Burleson sets NFL first Tue, 6 Nov 2007 17:31:44 -0800 Frank Hughes, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Nate Burleson is the first player in NFL history to have three punt returns of 90 yards or more in his career.

Lynn G. -> RE:NFL News (11/7/2007 10:20:57 PM)

Burleson is messing with my post in the Fess Up thread. I posted that I was wrong about him because I thought he'd light it up once he went to Seattle, but instead was disappointing. Now he's on fire and making me wrong a second time!

Bengals' Chris Henry in Incident with Parking Valet Wed Nov 7, 2007 The Cincinnati Enquirer reports a valet parking attendant at Newport on the Levee allegedly got into a confrontation with Bengals WR Chris Henry and another man over a $5 parking charge Tuesday. Bellevue resident Jason C. Baker, who intervened and tried to resolve the dispute, ultimately filed a menacing and harassment complaint with Newport police shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday. Henry has not been charged with a crime. The Bengals reinstated Henry to the 53-man roster Monday. He is coming off an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and is expected to play Sunday at Baltimore. Is the incident enough to jeopardize Henry's status for the game? "Based on the info below, the answer would be no," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an e-mail to The Enquirer after viewing this report. "It is not an issue in terms of his playing status at this time." This kid needs a mentor.....

Lynn G. -> RE:NFL News (11/8/2007 4:02:42 PM)

When they talked about the Chris Henry story on KFAN this morning, they reported that he actually used the line - "don't you know who I am?" What an idiot.
