F the Bears!

Kinda falling down on the job aren't you Duane? [;)][8D]

TheGonz -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/14/2009 10:47:09 AM)

Brian Urlacher done for the year with a dislocated wrist.

*crosses Bears off of "contenders" list*

No word on how this will affect his ability to send text messages to the mother of his son.

It may actually help the Bears.  Urlacher has been a shadow of his former self for  a few years now.

Maybe, but he always seems to play well against us.

I've seen other players play with a cast on, why not him?

And since the Bears are in the topic line, how about that fake punt last night in their own side of the field. Bad move and it looked like it even caught Lovie off guard

Stupidest thing I've ever seen. In a game where scoring was at a premium, and with your team up by 2 points in the 4th quarter, you do something that gives the other the team the ball already in FG position.

Supposedly the Long Snapper thought there were 12 men on the field, so he thought the quick snap would result in them getting a 1st down on a penalty. So he made the call.

But it didn't work.

But he would have gotten the same call if he snapped it to the punter

The penalty wouldn't have given them the first down.  The thought process had to be you take a chance at getting a first down on a free play, but this only works if you snap it before that 12th guy gets off the field.  If it is even close that he might make it off, it is not worth the risk.

hrerikl -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/14/2009 12:12:29 PM)

There was a 12th guy running off the field but he got off a second or 2 before the ball was actually snapped.

Good point on the yardage.

In the right situation, its a "head's up" play. But up 12-10 in the 4th quarter, and if you're wrong, you essentially hand your opponent a FG, its WAY too risky.

speaking from experience.. as some one who has had both wrists "dislocated/broken and needing surgery.. there is no way in hell that someone with a human level of pain tolerance is gonna be able to play football "with a cast on".. no freakin way.. take my word for it..

his entire arm is useless and his wrist is totally imobile and any movement until it heals does not help..

just trust me on this... he has a solid year of  pt to get his wrist back to about 80% of normal and it will never be the same again.. ever..

So much for "Da Bears"

They can use this as a learning experience for Cutler.

Sammy - he's a Bear and you HATE the bears. You'd take Cutler?

Duane Sampson -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/15/2009 11:35:05 AM)

Yeah, he's not an icon that people have named their kids after and all the garbage. [;)]

Cutler sucks but sometimes getting stabbed is better than having a live grenade shoved in your ear.

That reminds me - remember the Florida couple who named their twin boys "Brett" and "Favre"? (That poor kid whose first name is "Favre"). I've been wondering where they stand on the Favre vs. Thompson issue. They were clearly Packer fans - but were they Favre fans first? I wonder if they've legally changed the names of those poor boys...

Sadly my boss who is a Packer Season Ticket holder named his first son Brett. He's 11 and as arrogant as they come. I guess the name fits.

Cheesehead Craig -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/15/2009 5:39:47 PM)

During the game when Lovie threw the challenge flag after the fake punt, Al Michaels nailed it when he said "I think he's trying to challenge his own play call".  Line of the season already. [&:]

marty -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/15/2009 8:27:23 PM)

Let's not forget the Vikes lost their MLBer last year and ended up winning the division.

Some are enjoying kicking the Bears while they are down, but I certainly wouldn't call them out of it.  Should they pull the upset and beat the Steelers next week, they'll be VERY much alive and a threat to take the division if Cutler gets hot.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/16/2009 7:35:42 AM)

You really think it would be that big of an upset.  The Steelers Oline is almost as much a sieve as the Packers Oline.  Steelers, like the Bears, are without their best defensive player.  They also have no running game.  The only thing they really have going for them right now is Ben Roth Less Burger.  And the Oline is going to get him killed eventually.  Steelers are beatable Marty.  Bears almost beat the Packers despite 4 INTs.

I think the Bears D is going to struggle some...but I wouldn't say they Bears are going to take off if they beat the Steelers.  Steelers are a flawed and damaged team right now.

marty -> RE: RE:Da Bears (9/16/2009 8:25:54 AM)

I don't think the Bears take off if they beat the Steelers, but it may give them back some confidence.  Even if it is a false sense of confidence, a confident Bears team COULD come back and make a run for the division.  Beating the Steelers would be a BIG win for them.

I see what you're saying.
Well, let's hope the Steelers pull out another win and really ruin their confidence then.
