Favre Talks About Possibly Returning in 2008 Wed Nov 21, 2007 The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Packers QB Brett Favre was asked in a conference call with Detroit writers whether he would be less likely to consider retirement after this season. "If last season gave me hope, if I felt optimistic after our Chicago game last year at 8-8 and not making the playoffs, then sure," Favre said. "Obviously I'd have to feel a little bit better (about coming back), especially individually. If the season was over today, I could look in the mirror and say, 'You can play. You don't have to say I think I can. You know you can.' Physically for the most part I feel fine. I don't feel like I do some of the things I used to do quite as well. I have to envision that next year that would be a little bit worse. There are a lot of factors, but as I said after the game the other day, I am enjoying the ride. It's been a lot of fun but I don't want to stop here." Ah.... I love this time of the year. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I really honestly think that the only way Favre doesn't come back is if the Packers somehow make it to the SB and miraculously beat the Patriots.

Heck, whynot try to for two in a row? (yeah, I'm uber-delusional).

That little pop up timer has to have gone off with Rodgers by now. Seems the bird is just going to be left in the oven to go stale now.
That little pop up timer has to have gone off with Rodgers by now. Outside of money on first contract, which situation would you rather be in. Starting for the 9ers or backing up Farve in Green Bay? If Rodgers has what it takes he will have success similiar to Romo. You watch. I don't think it is completely bad backing up 3 or 4 years.

Tim Cady -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 4:23:56 AM)
But he was getting only 5.2 yds/c if you remove the long run he had (55 yds). Big difference. He got nearly half his yardage (112) on that one run. funny but if ryan grant had 120 yards on 30 carries with a long of 90, meaning 29 carries for 30 yards, so 1 yrd per carry avg, you'd say oh he had a great day. one other thing too, i wonder if ANY packer fan, if favre was scrambling, and he got hit low on the knee, and tore a ligament that knocked him out for 2 or 3 games, would say "good clean hit, only way to take him down"-----give me a damn break, all holy hell would break loose..........course that would never happen cuz he starts "the slide" if anyone is within 8 yards of him or flips the ball well past the LOS......funny how ANY injury to favre is considered a cheap shot, but an injury to anyone else is just "part of the game".. packer fans make me want to puke.
Boy the crickets sure chirped on this post. Leatherface is right. If some did a similiar clean hit on Farve.There would be calls for a public execution of the person responsible.
He may admit that sitting is the best thing for the long run, but if you're a competitive athlete, freshly drafted by the NFL and full of p and vinegar, champing at the bit to be "the guy" - I'm going to guess he'd rather be a starter than a sitter.

Tim, Actually Bill did respond to the post but later deleted it. I truly believe that he personally would accept a hit on Favre as part of the game and part of the risk - but then everything he's shown so far appears to be sincere and honest.

Lynn G. -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 6:33:48 AM)

I think I put my finger on why the "bounty" agreement by the Packer's defense can't be compared to the times that a RB rewards his offensive line with a steak dinner, or a QB buys the OL new watches, etc. Those examples are a thanks to an entire team, or an entire line, for a job well done. That's quite a different story than players targeting one specific player on the opposing team and offering some kind of bounty to stop him. The latter creates an atmosphere akin to a headhunting, which leaves an extremely sour taste. And, of course, the latter is illegal by NFL standards, while the former is not. It comes down to creating a headhunting mentality. The Packers claimed that there was no intent to actually take out Peterson, but isn't that kind of a fine line to draw with a group of competitive, adrenalin pumping athletes in the heat of a game? The stage has been set and everything set in motion, and crap happens. The Packers have vowed not to do it again, but shouldn't there be some kind of penalty the team should face?

David Moufang -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 7:58:46 AM)

Can this argument PLEASE DIE?
Can this argument PLEASE DIE?
Wow Packer fans sure like to speed through any negative light shone on them. It will be over when you have an asterisk beside your record like the cheaters form the AFC (should). Hey, if you guys make the Super Bowl it won't just be about getting killed by the Pats it will be..... CheaterBowl2008. Now don't go getting all frothy I'm 90% joking here.

John Childress -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 5:54:36 PM)

There is ZERO evidence of any sort that Al Harris intentionally tried to hurt Peterson. Watch the games today and Sunday and you will see many small DBs use the exact same tackling style to bring down bigger, stronger runners.

Can this argument PLEASE DIE?
I totally understand why you don't want this topic to continue. Your argument has been destroyed over and over by not just the posters here, but by the players involved and the NFL itself. Now it's just being continued to simply poke and prod to get a rise out of the Packer posters. Keep going at that windmill, Don Quixote, I'm ignoring it going forward.

There is also ZERO evidence that Kenechi Udeze intentionally tried to hurt Favre - but the league freaking fined him for it. You're not outraged at the inequity here?

Also EVERYONE knows that the media is IN LOVE with Favor and wants the grandpa to win one more Super Bowl. Think about the hype. . . Brady vs. Favor Patriots vs. Packors-New vs. Old Regarding AD, that was a low hit directed at knees. Anyone thinking anything else is simply not thinking. AND of course it was INTENTIONAL. Here is hoping the Packers get their WELL DESERVED karma. If not today, soon, very soon.

#1 Bart Starr fan -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 8:27:05 PM)

I've said it more than once, but one more time. I am here to talk football. If some here want to try to see into the hearts and minds of players or whine about favoritism or make childish remarks and make fun of players names, go ahead. I won't be a part of it. There's plenty of great football to discuss. If some of you need to descend into name calling and continue beating horses that are dead and buried, be my guest. No animosity is meant. I simply don't want to engage in this kind of circular debate. It's time wasting and builds anger and resentment. I get enough of that elsewhere in my life. Oh and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their loved ones. Hope you are safe and warm.

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 8:28:12 PM)

It's only embarrassing for those who want to keep bringing it up. Did someone mention embarrassing? If you want embarrassing take a look at the video and watch Brett the flop N faker Favre. Barley touched but.... “I don’t want to say it was a concussion or anything; I’m not a doctor. But I was a little woozy. I was well aware of what was going on, but I was a little light on the foot. That’s the best way I can explain it.” Now THAT’s embarrassing!

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 8:29:56 PM)

If my team was doing exceedingly well I would let all the other stuff just roll of my back. We're rivals what do you expect?

#1 Bart Starr fan -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 8:47:28 PM)
If my team was doing exceedingly well I would let all the other stuff just roll of my back. We're rivals what do you expect?
I guess I expect football chat, not mud-slinging and name-calling, as well as a certain level of respect, not just for the the opposing fans but for the opposing players, too. But hey, we're all human so that's just the way it is sometimes. Again, I have no animosity for any of you just because you are Viking fans. For all I know, you're all great folks. I just wish we could get along better. Oh well.... :) Packers are in a hard fought game today, that's obvious. Dammit, I always dread playing the Lions on Thanksgiving. Too many injuries to the D so far. KGB just went down and Woodson may be out. Crap. Looks like it may come down to shoot out.
