Udeze to Appeal Fine Thu Nov 22, 2007 The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings DE Kenechi Udeze plans to appeal the $7,500 fine he received from the NFL for a third-quarter hit on Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre in the Packers' 34-0 victory over the Vikings on Nov. 11. The fine was for a hit to the quarterback's head. Has any player ever won an appeal like this? Whatever the debate position you take on this, that is one touchy play to lose 7,500 clams on.

But hey, we're all human so that's just the way it is sometimes. Again, I have no animosity for any of you just because you are Viking fans. For all I know, you're all great folks. I absolutely agree that you as well as everyone here deserves to have their opinions treated with respect. As for mud slinging and name calling. Not sure that I can ditch my new found Favre flop but I have to admit if any of you came in with Viqueens and what not I might not like it much. I guess it depends on the content of the post. Anyway, I like a little friendly/rival banter so if I cross a line let me know and I will try and tone it down.

All I was pointing out is that my refusal to participate in, e.g., the continuation of the Harris/Peterson debate only means I don't think it's worthwhile, as far as I'm concerned. But I don't mean to limit or censor anyone else. It's just that there's so much good football stuff to discuss, why bother? Anyway, thanks for the nice reply. I do sincerely appreciate it. Looks like the Pack are going to pull it off after all. Whew. I was worried for a while there. Kitna picked a bad time to have such a lousy game, as have the Lion receivers.

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 11:11:09 PM)

Must be nice. 10-1 Favre is playing great. Everything is looking up. I hate it. Still going to talk about the Favre flop and Dirty Harris. Harris made a nice facemask tackle today. That's all I got.

#1 Bart Starr fan -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 11:40:47 PM)

Brett: 31 of 41...381 yards...no ints...not too shabby for a 38 year old. Driver: career day: 10 catches for 147...damn! Here comes Dallas...we need KGB and Woodson back, for sure. God, dare we hope????

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/22/2007 11:46:36 PM)

Not too shabby. Too bad it was only a "team" record 20 straight completions though. 5 more and it would have been something.

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 2:35:37 AM)

Great game by the Pack. The offense is really clicking right now and it's impressive. Grant has another 100 yard day, the vast majority of it in the 2nd half. The defense was a bit suspect early on and in the 4th Q but they were good enough. Favre is simply playing unbelieveable football right now, here's his last 5 games: @DEN: 21-27 (77.8%) 331 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT @KC: 24-34 (70.6%) 360 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT MIN: 33-46 (71.7%) 351 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT CAR: 22-30 (73.3%) 218 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT @DET: 31-41 (75.6%) 381 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT That's 131-178 (73.6%) 1641 yards, 13 TD, 2 INT. :shock:

When can we expect a new picture for the avatar, or are you waiting a couple more weeks to make it bigger?

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 3:03:36 AM)

Do you mean pump a little iron? Or get a bigger tattoo? This is the second time you've mentioned it and I have to admit it's going a little over my head. Are you just razzing me? Or making a suggestion on how I should display it? I'm not offended either way just not sure what your message is.

My razzing was that you had not done so yet as you were going to pump some more iron to make your arm bigger, thus a more impressive picture. Sorry I wasn't more clear. That and a little jealousy as if I posted a pic of my arm, well, the gap in Vince Lombardi's front teeth is bigger.

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 3:17:03 AM)

That's right. I do plan on getting it touched up and possibly bordered in gold and yes I do plan on taking a better picture. As for pumping iron - soooo lazy! I guess I should shelf it until a later just not sure what to replace it with. The funny thing is that was the best pic and I thought it was obvious it was an arm band type tattoo. You would laugh if I showed you the ones that didn't make the cut.

David Moufang -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 6:27:04 AM)

Great game, but also some of THE worst officiating I've ever seen. Some very questionable calls today, like the pass interference towards the end of the game. Favre really turned it around after a shaky start. Big stat for the day: 20 consecutive completions, a team record. That is amazing. Simply amazing.

John Childress -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 2:07:54 PM)

GB Dallas is going to be a game worth watching!

Duane Sampson -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 3:54:01 PM)

Pretty funny that the office Packers fans are already crying that they don't have NFL Network to watch the "big" game. Beap Chastards won't shell out for Directv. I told 'em I'd go to the bar with them so they can watch it. And I'll protect them if anybody starts giving 'em shit for drinkin' pink squirrels. :lol:

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 4:55:36 PM)

What I don't understand is why last nights game was not shown on the NFL network here in Canada. Luckily Sports Center had it. NFL N was showing some old clips of a woman's football team. I hope they don't screw around with any more games.

Duane Sampson -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 5:38:55 PM)

Pay-Per-View everything is coming.

I have considered getting satellite, but enough people tell me stories of interruption of service due to weather conditions that I'm reluctant. If anyone here who has satellite can give me some opinions on this subject, I'd love to hear from them. Again, we'd prefer to not give our business to Comcast. My BASIC cable bill (no premium channels, just the standard package with stuff like ESPN, HGTV, Food, FX, USA, MSNBC, TMC...etc) costs me more than 50 bucks a month. But I don't want to switch and right in the middle of a program, have a thunderstorm or snowstorm knock me out for a few hours. Thanks in advance for any ideas you all care to express.

Duane Sampson -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 6:20:28 PM)

I have Directv so I can get the NFL Ticket to watch the Vikings. I get NFL Netwok with the basic package. I usually only watch the Vikings so for me, PPV would be perfect. I'm stuck with broadcast Bears or Packers for the last 40 years, so Directv was awesome. I'm not just a little tickled that some of the lamers I know are whining about the Packer/Dallas game. I usually watch Thursday and Monday games at the bar anyhow. But these guys aren't "bar" patrons. Too bad for them. I used to drive up to 60 miles just to pick up the Vikings on a weak am band and listen to the game fade in and out. These guys can kiss the royal Canadian as far as I'm concerned. My satellite reception rarely goes out due to weather. No more than cable did when I was a lamer. Don't let that stop you.

Russell Timmons -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 6:33:00 PM)

From the Tennessean: Williams was on the practice field Thursday after agreeing to contract terms, but worked only in scout team drills. He won't play in Sunday's game at Cincinnati and the Titans weren't making any promises about how quickly he might be in uniform on Sundays. The Titans listed the 6-foot-5 Williams at 230 pounds, but he looked a lot heavier than that on Thursday. Coach Jeff Fisher admitted it might take some time for Williams to learn the offense and work himself into better shape. The Tennessean I guess my question is, does this guy even have any desire to play? He's out of job, and gets even further our of condition... :shrug:

Phil -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 7:03:58 PM)

I have directv and the only time my satellite went out due to weather was when we had some really heavy, wet snow...I just went outside and pushed the snow off of the dish and I was back in business. Again, don't let fears of 'weather' stop you.

Duane Sampson -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 7:14:38 PM)

If a guy is 23 years old and can't stay in shape...

David Moufang -> RE:The Packers (11/23/2007 8:58:13 PM)
Pay-Per-View everything is coming.
Unfortunately, I think you're right. The NFL has always exerted tight control over television broadcasts, and in my opinion it's gotten tighter in recent years. I don't know when they instituted this system where only one network gets both the early and late games. It's a serious nuisance though. Seems like there have been more pay-only games since last year. Monday Night Football moved to cable TV. Many people are still bitter about that. I tell them that NBC picked up the Sunday night game, but that doesn't seem to be any consolation. Then we got this idiotic NFL Network. I missed last year's Green Bay/Minnesota game at Lambeau because of it. It was a lousy game, but I still wanted to see it. And now I'll probably miss the Dallas game unless I want to go sit in a bar all night.

Tugboat, perhaps? Ornamental doorstop? Steam roller? Now I'm just being mean. :oops:
