2014's Quarterback Conundrum

How Did Their Systems Affect Them?

My goal here was to take out the variability of systems they all played in. Thus, how would Derek Carr have performed in an average system? This is imperfect, but it gives you a feel for how the systems helped or harmed them.

What I’ve done is taken out drops and then used the data to create an average system. The result is what their overall completion percentage would have been if they had played in an average system and the difference between the actual and adjusted completion percentages.

Pressure
- Bridgewater, Bortles and Manziel’s systems had a limited effect on their results from the 2013 season. As you can see in the first section, none of them played in a system that put them in a position to artificially increase their production.

- Derek Carr on the other hand would lose 3.5% off his completion percentage for the season. When you decrease his number of screens which are a high percentage pass and increase the number of below-average deep passes – it shows how much effect the system had on his production.

Great stuff KW

Like I said all along - STAY AWAY FROM THE STIFF CARR!

Bridgewater is the best QB out there

Bortles and Manziel are shots

Carr has BUST written all over him

What I saw in Winston was really slow feet, and really small hands.
When he held that Crystal Football they looked like Gary Coleman Hands.

I don't know what they measure but look at the clip.
I see a lot of Pep in Winston, small hands, close to being fat,not particularly bright, and kind of slow to get going.

Not the type of QB to wait around for or even talk about tanking games for.

Not particularly bright describes you a lot better

Damn, they really let some dumbasses post here

Oh well, that is what they make IP for

You mad Bro?

It took me awhile to figure out but you stole that from Woddy Paige's chalkboard.

Dave Odle -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/28/2014 6:48:26 PM)

So I'm watching the Texas A&M vs. South Carolina game and A&M's QB, Kenny Hill, is tearing up the Gamecocks. The best part was on the last TD drive, Hill threw a pass to the end zone and the WR was interfered w/ by none other than Al Harris, Jr. You just can't make this stuff up!

Johnny who? Say the Aggies fans.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 11:58:34 AM)

We don't seem to need him anymore, but UCLA QB Brett Hundley is looking like a man today. And as I type that, Virginia gets after him something serious lol.

Are we watching the same game? He hasn't looked very good to me, although the OL looks pretty bad so far.

0 points by the Hundley-led offense in the first half.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 1:01:06 PM)

His offense looks like they didn't come to play, but he did some real good stuff. I liked some of his throws.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 1:06:22 PM)

I'm gonna stop commenting on Hundley. Every time I talk about something he did good, he makes a fool of me.

[:)] He's been all over the place. Late, high, overthrows. He has had a couple drops, but overall he really hasn't looked good.
Outside of the first play of the game (45+ yard pass) he really hasn't done much.

Right now, Matt Johns is outplaying him.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 1:22:55 PM)

UCLA is gonna lose this game.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 1:34:48 PM)

Good run by Hundley.

For a team with National Title hopes, they look a little uninspired.

Nice TD run by Hundley just now. He is a very good athlete.

OSU finally held off Navy.

JT2 -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 4:53:37 PM)

Devin Funchess picked up right where he left off last season.

He's the best TE in the country, so good, that they converted him to WR. Probably doesn't help his development for the next level because I think the NFL would love to see him hone is skills as a TE.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 5:36:43 PM)

WVU giving Bama all they can handle.

That was fun as hell to watch the crowd ... most evenly-divided one I've ever seen. Seemed like every other seat had either a Bama or WVU in it.
Every play, half were going nuts, half were pissed off. Fun to see.

Winston misses having Benjamin in the red zone!

Absolutely, but this is good for his development.

Florida by 35+ ??

bohumm -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 8:39:53 PM)

Other than a couple of throws, Winston looks horrible. Too soon to call him Lobster Boy, but what happened to the clutch kid from last year?

Horrible might be a touch harsh, but personally, I think this is good for him. He never really faced adversity (on the field) last year. Will be interesting to see how he responds.

Ricky J -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 8:55:51 PM)

I think I must be invisible

bohumm -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 9:01:19 PM)

I think it's good for him, too. Not saying he is horrible, but two picks plus one that should have been inside his own ten...... Against a Big 12 defense at that

SoMnFan -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/30/2014 10:21:50 PM)

Oak State hangin tough!
