Great trade. Opportunistic by the Twins as the A's don't need Millone at all. Great work TR. Now keep dealing. Deal all of the guys you can in Suzuki, Willingham, Parm, Colabello, Correia, Fien. Love the Seattle thought Stacey. They get a bat upgrade and a "now" arm for a guy they'll never use (Franklin) and a great prospect.

No need for Franklin. The Twins are so smart. They're working Florimon in 3 spots in the infield. So later this season, they can have 3 utility guys man the SS spot, while the guy that should be the SS plays CF. Just wow

10:09am: Dave Cameron of Fangraphs reports another wrinkle in the trade: Cespedes’ contract calls for him to be non-tendered at the end of his deal (if he is not first extended) in order to assure him early free agency, and he therefore is ineligible to receive a qualifying offer following the 2015 season (Twitter links).

If Correia/Suzuki/Willingham are dealt, Nolasco has the last "albatross" contract for the Twins. Can start fresh. It has to be. Of course it is but Dustin would never admit to this. Mauer at 1B is a joke. He is hurting the team (albeit only when he plays) by being a nonproductive run-producer in a position that begs for a power hitter. Further, he is holding back other players who could be inserted at 1B.

Kudos Dustin for admitting Mauer has been poor this year. And yes, I hope he returns to being a reasonably productive hitter. But he had better be in excellent physical condition next February!

No doubt it would be better for the team to have Mauer at a corner OF spot (or 3b). Lot of plodders coming and Mauer's an athlete. And again, he was a bargain for the Twins for years and years. That's the way the baseball system works; you get way underpaid for your first 6 years, then overpaid in general after that.
