Boomer Scott dies at 69
Always thought of him when I see Big Papi

I always thought the same thing. It sucks being old. (not you of course).[;)]

No, he's old.   [:D]

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:18:36 AM)

Awesome to see the Pirates getting over the hump
They're relevant

Boston sees need .... Fills need
That's called OWNERSHIP wanting to win
Lucky fans

Great week of ball
Some sweet series

Will be interesting to see the moves today before 3

KC even did this in the off-season.

Shields/Erv are giving them chances to win.

Sure they're barely over .500

but thats a heck of a lot better than the Twins.

At least their ownership TRIES things. The Twins TRY via the DUMPSTER.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:31:23 AM)

Nine men out sometime today expected ....
Good
Lets move on

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:32:28 AM)

KCs upgrades looking better all the time
They're throwing a much better staff out there every night
THAT'S. what turns things around.

Tigs expecting bad news and acted accordingly, getting Iglesias.

They get it. Got a problem? Take care of it.

And Boston? They swing and miss sometimes, too, but they TRY.

Prospects are nice, and they have several elsewhere that didn't work in Boston. But they traded them while they had value.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:34:11 AM)

The Twins? They have a new logo for the All-Star game.

They get in the news for trying to robot-ize one of the game's best prospects.

Idiots.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:35:01 AM)

Great ball boy stuff in TB lat night
Seems baseball can be fun. Who knew?

This
Is all I'm saying
It's like we simply dont get what ownership means
It's like the Pohlads don't understand things can be done. Plans can be made. Moves can happen.
We simply sit and watch the ship go down.

And then it's NOBODIES FAULT

Except some rinky-dink coaches who have minimal impact.

Shuffle the deck chairs.

HOPE for a turn around.

We like the guys who used to win for us. THey can again...we hope.

And if not? BLAME SOMEONE/SOMETHING ELSE!

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:41:37 AM)

It's always amazed me
I love this MLB thread, because stuff happens
I wake up every day this time of year looking onward to seeing what relevant teams are doing to get better
And we are soooooo programmed here ... We just don't expect to ever be a part of the fun.
Why?
Why?
Why?

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 8:42:22 AM)

Why can't we ever be part of the fun?

Isn't the deadline midnight EST?

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 9:43:46 AM)

Yep
My bad
Too many timelines to keep straight
PED announcements, etc .... [&:]

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 9:44:40 AM)

I'm sure that extra nine hours will be all the time we need to make some great deals.

Supposedly most of the players have already agreed to 50 game suspension . I think we'll see Texas pick up a bat today also to replace Cruz

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 10:25:04 AM)

Could be Morneau (that Texas bat)
According to a couple talking heads this morning.

rumor has it they are thinking about trading Elvis Andrus.

Straight up?

No, I don't think Texas would do it, nor do I think the Twins would pick up Andrus contract.  Just wondering what folks around here would think about that trade...

I guess the mlb offices aren't open until midnight -slackers!

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/31/2013 11:14:09 AM)

I'm hearing Jamey Carroll may be moved.
Typical low-level shuffling that makes sense, I guess.
Allow a good guy to chase a playoff dream.
It ain't happenin here.

I'd trade him for Andrus' contract. In a heart beat.

Andrus (ONLY 24) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than anything in this org, outside of Rosario

Wow!  That is earth-shattering news.  And what would the Twins receive in return for Carroll?  A last round draft choice?
