Whoa

After a pair of postponements caused by rioting in Baltimore, the Orioles and Chicago White Sox will play Wednesday at Camden Yards in what is believed to be the first game without fans in major league baseball's 145-season history.

Crazy

it'll be just like a Big Ten hockey game!

[&:][&:][&:][&:][&:] Early rounds of the conference hockey tourney too, eh?

Worst I've ever seen
Sad, really.

I saw that one tourney opener, had to be 200 people total.

Don't know when some of these orgs will ever get it, that you can over-extend.
MLB went through it. I still think they could improve the product. the specialization in the bullpen has gotten to
the point where it's way more difficult to score late, which takes some of the fun out of ballgames.

Agree
Id still like to see only two games each week night per league, on Mon/Tues/Wed
Then every team plays a 4 game weekend set
Fill the stadiums 4 nights a week instead of ho-hum Tuesday night snoozefests
Wont happen but I can dream. Cuts 162 down to almost half.
Puts more emphasis on every game. Way too watered down when you're playing 162.
Just my opinion.

I don't think MLB has the answer for all the arm burnouts. That's really killing it too.

Also, I really don't think they've recovered from the expansion. So many athletes wash out and never get to the bigs, so
others that could play, do other sports, like FB and hoops.

It gives opps to others. IMO, the Latin invasion is the tip of the iceberg. Lots of those guys bust their butts to get here, vs
the kids who are on mommy/daddy's traveling teams until college or getting drafted, then flop.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/28/2015 8:08:07 PM)

Nats must have heard us ... inching back in.
Yanks still rolling
Blue Jays on top of Bosox again, see if they can hold it tonight
KC on a roll again

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/28/2015 8:27:51 PM)

Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka will be placed on the disabled list and miss at least a month with right wrist tendinitis and a mildly strained forearm.

I was trying to ignore that piece of news.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/28/2015 8:49:47 PM)

Nats get all the way back.
Almost.
Saved Mattys job for a couple days. [:D]

Blame it all on Obama and his AG!!

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/28/2015 9:15:59 PM)

Lyle, have you touch'd down in Spain??

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/28/2015 10:20:43 PM)

Nats make it all the way back and defeat the Braves.
We musta got em going, Ed.

Let the good times roll.
How about Pelfrey.....hopefully, he can beat the mediocre teams too!

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/29/2015 9:32:49 AM)

MadBum out pitches everybody's boy Kershaw once again.
Love guys who rise to big occasions
MadBums the poster boy for that.
Madison Bumgartner, San Francisco ACE

Sure would be nice to have "that guy" who kicks everyone around nearly every outing.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/29/2015 9:37:30 AM)

Yep, what we call an ace isn't exactly the definition.
We've had a couple but it's been a longgggg time.
So nice to have a guy you know will almost always take you to the ninth with a lead.

Pelfrey getting into later innings is a good deal for the bullpen.
Hughes can get there too, after that? not so much.

A shaky pen getting over-worked already.

Graham has stuff, but seems to be not ready for the bigs.

Stauffer? no thanks.

Boyer? Throws hard but no thanks

Fien's mph is going to catch up to him at times. Has a good mentality, but really, is he the 8th inning guy? guess he has to be.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/29/2015 9:45:50 AM)

You've been quiet on my boy Thompson Ed
What'd ya think so far?

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/29/2015 9:46:54 AM)

If we're gonna play with no fans in Baltimore today, why aren't they playing two?
They've got two to make up.

Sigh.

I'll take him over Duensing. There was no reason to re-sign Duensing, THompson doesn't seem fazed by RH or LH hitters.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/29/2015 9:52:03 AM)

When Duensing does come off the DL

and it's been pretty quiet there,

someone else needs to go. Thompson has earned a job.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/29/2015 9:54:48 AM)

Yep
Cautiously optimistic here too.
So far pretty good

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/30/2015 4:26:36 PM)

Remember when everyone was laughing at the Astros?
Seemed not too long ago.
They have become very good, very quickly. It can be done.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/30/2015 4:28:31 PM)

Wonder if Bert and Ernie ever feel a twinge of "hey, what the ...."
These teams they loved to laugh at, wow.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/30/2015 4:50:50 PM)

Wore one of my Astros shirts to the A's vs Astros game. Before the game I bought an A's hat, but decided it would be super lame to wear it at the game with my Astros shirt. Sat by a couple loud A's fans that didn't say anything to me. After the Astros won, I put on and zipped up my Twins jacket for the walk out to the parking lot. That was safe, I'm almost sorry to say.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/2/2015 2:14:44 PM)

Atta boy ARod.
Classy Red Sox fans, classy.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/3/2015 8:34:21 PM)

Yanks on a nice little run as well.
We've seen the Hanley Ramirez Circus before.
I think we called it The Manny Ramirez Circus however. [&o]
