Josh Donaldson is like a video game character.
Its getting ridiculous to pitch to him.
Every time he needs to do something crazy, he does.
He belongs in the Trout and Harper discussions, imo ... as far as guys who can change any game at any time.

I like that plan, Pete.

I also think GM's should have some say in this, with the same rules (ie can't vote for your own guys).

1) These guys know the value of these players better than anyone, or at least should.
2) These guys should be as motivated to win as anyone, because it's not just the team/homefield success, which they should care about as much as anyone. But it's also potentially one extra big home playoff game for 1 GM. ie extra money.
3) They have more time to keep up with/watch these other players/teams on a regular basis, if nothing else for scouting purposes, than managers/coaches/players do.

Certainly a stud. After Trout (and until Buxton/Correa get up to speed [:D]) he may be the AL's best all-around player. So underrated.

Billy appears to have made a big mistake on that one. Gotta stop devoting some of your time to soccer, Mr. Beane.

There you go. Perfect. Some combination of rostered players and GM's deciding who are the best players in the game.

If they don't know, I guess we'll just have to ask Shakey.

Olney's top 5 snubs:

Here are the players I wish hadn't been omitted:

1. Clayton Kershaw, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dodgers left-hander is not having as dominant of a season as he had in 2014, but it's not as if he's having a bad season; he's tied for the MLB lead in strikeouts and has a 3.08 ERA. He's baseball royalty and should be at the All-Star Game.

Kershaw says he had no expectations either way.

2. Carlos Martinez, SP, St. Louis Cardinals: He has taken a big step forward this year, developing his changeup into one of baseball's best, and he's learning to control his emotions. I would love to see him rewarded for that.

3. A.J. Ramos, RP, Miami Marlins: The Marlins' closer has allowed 18 hits and just one home run in 37 2/3 innings, with 46 strikeouts. He sports a 0.74 WHIP.

4. Kevin Kiermaier, OF, Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays center fielder is the Babe Ruth of defensive metrics this season, running away from the field in several categories. As Oakland GM Billy Beane once explained, it means as much to take away a run as it does to score a run, and nobody has been better at that part of the game than Kiermaier this season.

5. Brian Dozier, 2B, Minnesota Twins: Dozier started his "Final Vote" campaign with a walk-off homer Monday night. The Twins have been one of the biggest surprises this season, and Dozier ranks among the top 20 MLB hitters in WAR (according to Fangraphs). He's the highest-ranked player in this category to not be an All-Star.

It's too bad he isn't part of the AL team ... yet.

Excited to see Pujols back in the HR derby. What a year he's having. Hopefully Joc makes it as well. And Trout. Trout hit a HR tonight that traveled 117 mph. [:-] Dude is out of this world.

We're going to see our boy Sano in it next year.

Get a kick out of that argument.
Like .... if I could hit a baseball 450 feet, I NEVER grab a bucket of balls and a buddy and say "hey, lets go over to the field and you toss me a few meatballs".
Yeah, that NEVER happens, and it would totally screw up your game for life, if you did ....
I'd do it at picnics, at yard sales, while shopping, before and after my kids games, family reunions, you name it ...

Who wouldn't want to be a walking, talking, fireworks show 24/7?

So many more deserving players have been screwed out of playing in the All Star Game so the Ron Coomers and Pat Tablers could be the lone representative for their team.

I have despised this rule for quite some time.

Rizzo says it will be weird getting used to hitting without "the turtle"
She had to ask ... "What's the turtle?"
