SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (8/30/2015 9:45:15 PM)

No-nos becoming easy.
Arrieta thru 8 ....

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (8/30/2015 10:06:52 PM)

Arrieta gets er done.
ANOTHER no-hitter in 2015.

Sixth one this year.
Second time in ten days, the mighty mighty Doyers have been no-no-ed

Former softball player Jessica Mendoza was doing color for the first time tonight and she sees a no-hitter. I thought she actually did a pretty good job.

Crazy that they are still experiencing "firsts" with women in broadcasting. In 2015.
Many capable, talented gals, that should have jobs.
The one we've talked about before, that does Saturday college football, is one of my favorite play-by-players. More, please.

She also works for the NCSA (college recruiting company). I listened to one of her webinars a few weeks and she did a good job on that too.

Tim Lincecum is still experiencing discomfort in his hips and back and there’s a chance he might not pitch again in 2015, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Since Lincecum is a free agent this winter, it could also mean the end of his Giants tenure.

Yes, way better than Schilling. He would have found a way to ruin watching a no-hitter.

Zoilo -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (8/31/2015 3:51:59 PM)

I liked that the scorer followed the old idea that the first hit in the game has to be a clear hit.

Astros went back home tonight and pounded Seattle.

The Cards with their 85th win already last night.
The Spurs of MLB.

Holy Consistently Great Franchise, Batman!

They will be tough to beat this weekend for the Twins

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (9/1/2015 8:59:51 AM)

Tribe are also only 3 games behind the Twins with several to play. Their pitching could give them a real edge.

As an adult who damn-near died from chickenpox (thanks, kids ...) .... I don't wish that upon anyone.
The Royals are infected with it.
Could cause some issues. Its dangerous to contract, when an adult.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (9/1/2015 8:34:27 PM)

Actually felt that the Indians would be very good this year.
Disappointing early, but damn tough to beat since the break.

A mumps outbreak in the National Hockey League last season highlighted the ability for disease to spread quickly within a sport. Since then, the NHL has encouraged more sanitary use of water bottles and towels as well as encouraged players to provide teams with their vaccination records, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Kansas City traded for outfielder Jonny Gomes right before the Aug. 31 trade deadline, adding insurance to an outfield that already includes Lorenzo Cain, Jarrod Dyson, Paulo Orlando and Alex Gordon, who was activated from the disabled list Tuesday after missing nearly two months with a strained left groin muscle. Rios, 34, had struggled most of the season, hitting .253/.288/.333 after signing a one-year, $11 million deal this offseason.

Herrera, 25, is an integral piece of the vaunted Royals bullpen, the best in the major leagues for three seasons running. In 59⅓ innings, he has a 2.12 ERA with 53 strikeouts and a .178 batting average against.

Longest week of my life. Devastating, especially if you're vain. You feel like a leper.
Had them so badly inside my body that I had to use IVs for everything. Couldn't swallow water.
And the great news? Highly susceptible to get them AGAIN... cant wait. [X(]

I thought a second time was very rare? Usually you get shingles the 2nd time. My younger daughter had chickenpox really bad when she was
only about 6 months old. Then she got the shingles a few years ago when she was probably 12 or 13.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (9/1/2015 10:46:07 PM)

They say if you get em twice (and then its open season after twice) ... that means your first case was not "bad enough" whatever the hell that means.
Believe me, no one more frustrated by it than me.
You are correct, in my state, shingles are almost guaranteed at some point.
Tried the vaccine and crossing my fingers.

Marlins manager Dan Jennings will be asked to return to his old role as general manager and forgo his managing duties, reports Fox Sports's Ken Rosenthal.

The Marlins would then look to hire a more experienced manager for next season. The Miami Herald reported Tuesday that Jennings “almost certainly” would not be returning in his current role next season, and that whether or not he sticks with the franchise at all remains unclear.

Miami owner Jeffery Loria wants to make “sweeping changes” across his team's baseball operations, reports the Herald, and that the relationship between owner and manager continues to grow strained during a frustrating season.

Jennings took the dugout role in May after the team fired Mike Redmond, with assistant GM Mike Berger replacing Jennings as general manager. The Marlins were 20–30 at that point, and have gone 34–49 with him at the helm, sitting at the bottom of the National League alongside struggling divisional rivals Atlanta and Philadelphia.

Before taking the job, Jennings had never managed at the professional level before, working as a scout and in MLB front offices since 1986, and as Marlins GM since 2013.
