Free-agent relief pitcher Darren O'Day has agreed to a four-year, $31 million deal to return to the Baltimore Orioles, sources confirmed to ESPN on Sunday.
The deal is pending a physical.

Since coming to Baltimore, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound righty known for his submarine delivery has become one of the game's premier setup men. O'Day has appeared in at least 68 games in each of his four seasons with the Orioles, including 2015, when he went 6-2 with six saves and a 1.52 ERA and was voted to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career.

When you're world champs....you keep pushing fwd, I guess. Darn budget in MN [&o]

The Royals are in pursuit of free agent lefty Scott Kazmir, ESPN’s Buster Olney tweets. The Dodgers are also interested, as Olney notes (and as FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal also noted earlier this weekend). The Royals appear close to re-signing another starter, Chris Young, but it doesn’t appear that will keep them from searching for more pitching help.

The Tigers have announced the signing of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, per MLB.com’s Jason Beck (Twitter links). GM Al Avila said that the Munsey Sports Management client will have an opportunity to compete for a position backing up presumptive starter James McCann.

P Chris Young will earn about $11.75MM over the life of the two-year deal, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Stays in KC

Tigs re-loading

The Tigers are in agreement with right-hander Mark Lowe on a two-year contract to join the team as a setup man, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (via Twitter).

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (12/7/2015 9:34:29 AM)

Young and Soria are two huge keeps for the Royales, imo.

The Tigers signed Mike Pelfrey for 2 years and $16 million? WHY?! He's terrible unless it's a contract year, in which he can be serviceable if the team can turn a lot of double plays. At least our bats will get to face him a bunch I hope. Maybe they think he'll somehow turn into Doug Fister when Fister was good? I'm glad we didn't waste any money on Pelfrey.

I thought it was $18 million?

Sounds like the Chapman to Dodgers deal is done.

9:33am: Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweets that none of Julio Urias, Corey Seager or Jose De Leon are headed to the Reds in the trade. The Dodgers, though, have plenty of other enticing prospects in their ranks, notably including right-hander Grant Holmes and infielder Jose Peraza as fellow top 100 types.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (12/7/2015 10:32:56 AM)

Dodgers also sign Iwakuma, the guy the Twins couldn't hit vs Seattle

DEC. 7, 9:30am: Iwakuma will land a three-year, $45MM contract, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (via Twitter). That would match MLBTR’s prediction from early November.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (12/7/2015 10:34:00 AM)

The Tigers are “looking at” Yoenis Cespedes and Alex Gordon as outfield options, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (Twitter link). The Royals, however, believe the biggest threat to steal Gordon away from them presently comes from the nearby Cardinals, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (also via Twitter).

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (12/7/2015 10:54:26 AM)

Cards would be a perfect landing spot for Gordon.

So would MN [:D]

HUGE amounts of pressure on Kepler to advance, given the lack of lefties in this org ready to contribute.

I know they are just saves, but how will the Dodgers juggle the elite closer egos of Jansen and Chapman in the same bullpen? This has clubhouse blow-up potential.
