This game was just brutal. 38-0. My phone was exploding with angry texts from my brother, and two of my friends who live in other parts of the country. The Giant game text messages between us aren't going to be fun this year. Just a horrible year for my teams. The Giants really look lost[:(]


Just gaze in admiration at the recent Superbowl trophies and I'll bet that pain instantly neutralizes.

Since I'm sure we don't know what that feels like.  I'm betting winning it all sets a higher standard.  If you know your team is capable of championships every few years, watching them start 0-3 it more painful than our pathetic franchise.

It's true, we don't know what it would feel like. Just speaking for myself, I believe a Superbowl win would keep me content for about a decade.

I can't believe that anyone from any other fan base feels more pain than I do right now. I don't accept that Giants fans are hurting that much.

If Flynn does start, he will be the 16th starting quarterback for the Raiders since the beginning of the 2003 season.

Flynn has started two games in his career, when he was in Green Bay, going 24-for-37 for 251 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in 2010 at New England, and then throwing for 480 yards and six touchdowns against Detroit in the 2011 season finale for the Packers.

But Flynn was beaten out the past two summers for starting jobs by Russell Wilson in Seattle and Pryor in Oakland. He was hampered in both training camps by a sore throwing elbow but the time off since losing the starting job has helped.

"His arm looks fresher," Olson said. "I think that jumps out probably to everybody. His arm is certainly much fresher."

They were down 20-3 on the road at halftime. Their offensive line was missing three starters, including two Pro Bowl players, and they were starting a rookie, seventh-round draft choice (Michael Bowie) against the best defensive player in the NFL (J.J. Watt).

Their defense completely forgot they entered the game No. 1 in the league, playing like they were No. 1 in leaving receivers wide open.

The Seahawks were outgained by more than 206 yards and their third-down efficiency was 21 percent. And their quarterback (Russell Wilson) had a miserable 49.7 passer rating for the game because he spent most of the day trying to avoid becoming permanently embedded in the Reliant Stadium turf.

But there’s something strange about this team, in a good way. When things seem to be at their worst, the Seahawks are at their best.

Despite all those negatives and all those mistakes, Seattle did enough things right to win and remain unbeaten. It’s the first time in franchise history the Seahawks have started a season with four victories.

e. The Kansas City defense, which has allowed 41 points in four games. It doesn’t let you breathe. The Giants ran zero plays inside the KC red zone Sunday.

f. As a means of comparison, the Philadelphia defense allowed 42 points in three quarters Sunday.

John - you overreacted.

Remember, I make a living by writing, so I'm more sensitive than most about these things. If people could take my product and represent (or sell) it as their own it would hurt my business. An investment advisor, who spends a large chunk of time crafting an investment portfolio for one of his clients would not take very kindly to having that portfolio stolen by someone and presented as their work. A songwriter will sue if you steal their song.

Really, how hard would it have been for you to put quotation marks around that and put Blount's name at the bottom? It's just a sign of respect.

Sorry JC, I think Lynn has a point.

I don't like it when I read something, I start out thinking it is the poster that wrote it, and at 3 or 4 sentences I either have doubts or think they did NOT write it. You're a good writer, so something well written doesn't tell me you didn't write it. I really don't like having to try and figure it out. I like to know right away so I can then focus on the content.

As Lynn said, you could put quotation marks, or you could just highlight it and put it in italics.

I think my theory about players allowing themselves to get hurt has plenty of support this year, like it does any year.

In Cleveland, you have Hoyer looking great, then getting knocked out for the year. He is a hero, and if you arrange the letters in his last name, you get hero.

Remember what I said about players feeling unappreciated allowing themselves to get hurt ? Calvin Johnson might have figured the Lions would once again lose at GB, and Reggie Bush seemed to be getting a lot of the credit for the Lions' early success, while CJ, who has worked his tail off for many years for them, was just chopped liver. In case anybody was forgetting Megatron is needed to make the offense click, he ends up out for the Packers game. If only the Lions had had Megatron, then they would have beat the Packers, right ? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe they would have also lost, but right now he is the hero, the player that it is thought likely would made a difference. Being out, showed that he was important to the team, brought his value back into awareness.

Julio Jones on what appears to be Falcons team headed for disaster, jumps ship, allows himself to be injured and out for the year.

I could give a lot more examples, but I leave at these for now.

There was a time when people who thought the earth was round, or that it revolved around the sun, were thought of as crazy.

Let's just say there is quite a bit we currently do NOT understand about certain energies, and the mind, and the subconscious mind (assuming there IS such a thing).

Exactly.  Hoyer was finally getting a shot to start every week instead of being a clipboard holder or benchwarmer.  Why would he intentionally hurt himself under those circumstances?

Let yourself get injured while you're on the top of the world. Set yourself up for a big paycheck at the end of 2013, just in case your play may have come back to it's previous level. Yeah, sure, that's the ticket!
