I'm a big Exum fan, and was before the draft, so I'm hoping he's our longterm answer there. Sounds like he'll have every opportunity to be Smith's partner in crime this season. Hope he takes it and runs with it.

OL is definitely the key otherwise.

It's amazing how bright the futures suddenly are for all 4 main MN franchises right now.

Losing will do that for you.
Losing long enough and then not completely blowing the obvious choices will do that for you.

"I appreciate the Vikings for working together on this restructured contract, which provides additional security for me but also allows opportunities for me to further prove my value to the team and within the NFL," Peterson said. "It was important for me to continue my career in Minnesota, and I cannot wait to get on the field in front of Vikings fans again."

What a pile of rhetoric this whole offseason fiasco was.

Thank goodness it appears there is real hope on the horizon for Viking fans.

There has to be hope somewhere in MN sports. That is all we are ever fed. HOPE! I have eaten enough of MN Twins hope in all of its different flavors. I have tasted them all and they all are bad. Perhaps the Vikings are on to something more positive. At least they seem to be trying.

MANKATO, Minn. -- On the Minnesota Vikings' final day of training camp at Minnesota State University, coach Mike Zimmer ended practice about 20 minutes earlier than scheduled. That wasn't because he was happy with what he'd seen.

Zimmer issued a stern rebuke to players in his news conference after Thursday morning's session, calling it a "terrible practice" and saying it was "not up to my standards." Asked what he didn't like about practice, Zimmer quickly replied, "Everything."

"Everything."

Mike Zimmer, on what he didn't like about Thursday's practice

"They'd better get better quick, or there's going to be a lot of heck going on," he said.

Asked if he will lean on his veterans to get the team back in gear, Zimmer said, "I will lean on my size 10s.''

He said the only positive from the day was that the team was going home.

The second-year coach stopped practice about 25 minutes in on Thursday morning, making players run a lap around the far goalpost and back. Linebacker Chad Greenway said it was the first time he'd had to run a lap since high school, but neither he nor other players were in position to say it wasn't warranted.

"Late in camp, you can't have that mindset, that you're just going to come out there and roll the ball," quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said. "Coach Zimmer, he's a tough coach. He wants everything precise in practice, and we didn't do a good job of that today.

"We're a much better football team than when we came out today in practice. The proven guys we have in the locker room appreciate that. We'll come back later today for the walk-through with the right mindset."

The Vikings, who went 7-9 last season, have become a trendy postseason pick with the return of Adrian Peterson, but Zimmer has sought to temper those expectations throughout camp. He was happy with the Vikings' performance during their 14-3 win in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Sunday night, but wasn't in position to offer any glowing reflections Thursday.

"That's not what good teams do. Good teams focus on the task at hand," Zimmer said. "They don't focus on what's happened the last 13 days. They worry about today and worry about getting better. That's what good teams do."

Asked what he'd told the team in a fiery address after the end of practice, Zimmer said, "I probably can't repeat it."

I heard that too the other day on the radio. I couldn't believe it. I knew they weren't all choir boys but I would have thought we were #1 [:-]

Yeah
Mucho work to do on that unit.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/18/2015 8:52:11 PM)

Good grief.

In this day/age of instant msgs and over-reaction

Why should Griff APOLOGIZE for that? Good for him. If he believes it, who cares???

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III says he will not apologize for his comments earlier this week in which he called himself the “best quarterback in the league,” according to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Redskins announced they would only allow Griffin to speak to the media on game days. Publicity clauses in all NFL player contracts state: “Player will cooperate with news media, and will participate upon request in reasonable activities to promote the Club and the League.”

Yet on Tuesday afternoon, Griffin spoke to the media. “I don't apologize for what I said,” he told reporters, according to the New York Post.

On Monday, Griffin stirred controversy when he said he felt like he was the NFL's best quarterback.

No kidding
Don't you want your QB thinking he's the shit?
The masses are hard to figure out
Seems to depend on which way the wind blows

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/18/2015 10:10:26 PM)

Don't you have to be good to get this??

Quarterback Eli Manning, who is engaged in contract extension talks with the New York Giants, is seeking to become the NFL's highest-paid player with his next contract, the NFL Network is reporting.

bstinger -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/19/2015 7:14:47 AM)

It's good to be confident for sure, but when you clearly aren't the best at something and you claim you are it comes off cocky and delusional. I don't mind some cocky, but I'd be worried about the delusional.

bstinger -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/22/2015 10:43:11 PM)

Walsh sucks. Bring in some competition for the rest of preseason.

bstinger -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/22/2015 10:48:16 PM)

Diggs doesn't suck.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/23/2015 5:33:07 AM)

Bridgewater needs to look down field on 3rd and 8-type situations vs checkdown 4 yard passes in traffic.

Really is my only concern w/him right now. Too often.

Stacey King -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/23/2015 2:24:56 PM)

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (8/23/2015 7:26:38 PM)

Jordy Nelson is a HUGE loss for the Pack.
Dudes one helluva player.

No
I want them humble enough to know that they can always get better. I want them to think they have to work harder to be the best.

Eli Manning wants to be the highest paid. He can't hold Aaron Rodgers Jock. Russell Wilson has played in just as many superbowls and in only three years in the NFL as compared to Eli's dozen.
Peyton is still a better QB, and his ability is fading.

RG3 may believe he's the best, but EVERYBODY but HIM realizes that he's not. Believing you CAN be the best and actually being the best are two very different things.

I love me some Teddy. You will never hear him say "I am the best QB in the league". I am sure if asked he would reply humbly that he still has a lot of work to do.

Yup. But the Packers will survive it because....Aaron Rodgers.
He's not the best in the NFL because of Jordy Nelson alone. He will have other receivers stepping up, or he will make them look better than they are.
