I never saw anyone get picked off as often as Span did. For a couple months it got to the point of being humorous.

TJSweens -> RE: Former Twins News (8/5/2014 12:28:15 PM)

It was getting to be like Common Man holding the Brad Radke 1st inning home run contest. What inning would Span get picked off in?

The Rockies have signed right-hander Josh Roenicke to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs, reports MLB Daily Dish’s Chris Cotillo (on Twitter). Roenicke is a client of the Legacy Agency.

The 32-year-old Roenicke has spent the 2014 campaign with the Nationals’ Triple-A affiliate and struggled to a 5.45 ERA with just 4.2 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9. H

Brendan Harris 2014

.293 .412 .399 .810

Yes, he has a .412 (!) OBP in the minors this season. I always liked that guy.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player so expertly combine a lack of power with an inability to walk like Benny Popgun.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Former Twins News (8/17/2014 5:37:12 PM)

Span is 7th in the league in hitting.
What the hell is going on around here?

Morneau has more RBIs than any Twin. Of course he did last year too.

I think what bothers me the most, is that I'm so stupid, I cannot see what Gardy and TR have in mind.
I'm simply not bright enough to figure out their master plan.
Their thinking is so far ahead of mine when it comes to these decisions, it makes my head hurt.
I simply cannot WAIT for this whole thing to come together and make sense to an imbecile like me.

SoMnFan -> RE: Former Twins News (8/18/2014 7:56:25 AM)

DENVER -- Michael Cuddyer hit for the cycle, including a two-run double in Colorado's five-run eighth inning, and the Rockies rallied again to beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-5 to complete a doubleheader sweep Sunday night.

Drew Stubbs finished off Colorado's five-run ninth inning with a three-run homer off J.J. Hoover, sending the Rockies to a 10-9 victory in the first game.

Cuddyer, reinstated from the disabled list earlier in the day after missing 60 games with a left shoulder fracture, tripled in the first, homered in the fifth and singled in the seventh to become the seventh Rockies player to hit for the cycle and first since Carlos Gonzalez on July 31, 2010 against the Chicago Cubs.

McMurfy -> RE: Former Twins News (8/20/2014 6:03:51 PM)

Revere went 4-for-5 with a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Giants.
Spin: Revere has been on fire of late. He has 67 hits since June 26, which is the most in the majors. Revere is now hitting .311/.328/.368 with 34 stolen bases.

SoMnFan -> RE: Former Twins News (8/20/2014 6:06:08 PM)

Add up the distances for all of those 67 hits, and they'd total at least 3 or 4 home runs, I'm bettin. [;)]
Still love the Ben Revere Spray Chart.
Thing of beauty.

djskillz -> RE: Former Twins News (8/20/2014 6:48:10 PM)

.696 OPS really isn't bad for a guy with his position/defense/baserunning. But still not great either.

Vastly overrated defender. He's fast - which sometimes lets him make up for taking horrible routes, and his arm is a significant liability.

He is not a good defender. And a .696 is really bad. Bad enough to kill any positives a player might have defensively

SoMnFan -> RE: Former Twins News (8/20/2014 6:59:45 PM)

Still wont forget the time a bunch of us met for a game ... we were watching the Twins warm-up before the game and making smart-ass comments of course.
When it came time for Revere to catch some flies and throw them back in, I'll never forget the reaction we had.
It was SHOCKING to see in-person just how weak his arm was. Shocking.
Made us speechless. Which is extremely hard to do with the bunch we had there. [:D]
