As long as the Twins are winning I don't care if Hicks gets a callup.

BOOM

The other thing I find interesting about Hicks is the fact that Molitor isn't so high on him. Is he wrong as well??

I think the true problem with Hicks is that his greatest admirer is himself. He thinks he knows everything about baseball and "dammit" I will bat LH vs. RHP.

Pitching is now 14th.....hmmmm. If you are 14th in pitching, 9th in Runs, and 19th in Fielding Percentage....not bad.

Well that is not surprising. League average stats would suggest a roughly .500 W/L record. The Twins are two games over .500. Once they play the East Division teams their record will fall like a brick.

Doug Bernier up, Nunez to the DL

An oblique issue. Really? Nunez must not have worked out enough in the offseason. For a skinny guy, must have been out of shape.

Seriously this medical staff needs to be fired. Do these idiots not know how to stretch by now?

quote:

Bernier jumps onto the roster again. 9 lives.

Oh, Whooopeee!!!! Bernier gets another chance. Maybe we should go grab us up some Nick Punto or Drew Butera too! Is Brendan Harris available? How about LewLew Ford? Can we talk Kubel or Bartlett out of retirement?

quote:

Erv onto the restricted/suspended to make room.

Why in the holy shit was he not on this list already?

20 reps each way on a sitting down oblique machine at 100-130 lbs three times per week will ensure this injury could NEVER happen. Not rocket science.

Just can't help myself from chiming in on such an ignorant statement.

Here's a guess, a Dan Cole fan, and somebody who has never played competitive sports (not golf, real sports) at even a low level.

The vast majority of professional athletes, even baseball players, would laugh at your sure-fire remedy to avoid "oblique issues".

If you build up your core strength you will prevent oblique injuries. And golfers are more impacted by oblique injuries than any other sport. And if you follow golf, most golfers are far better conditioned athletes than baseball players today.

CPAMAN -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/7/2015 9:56:49 AM)

Buston and Sayno have a long way to go before they are ready to play MLB.

Well, he is over .300 vs RHP this year,so maybe he's figuring it out.

I hope they do well but I am realistic. Sayno seems to be an Arcia type. Hits tape measures HR but not a lot smarts between the ears.

First of all you're kidding yourself if you think it's as simple as doing some ab exercises. Well toned oblique muscles are still vulnerable. Exercising them tightens them as well as strengthening them. An awkward swing or swinging in cold weather can still trigger a strain for a person with 6 packs abs and a well conditioned core.

Second of all, I categorically reject the notion that a golf swing at a stationary ball is more likely to cause an oblique injury than swinging a bat at a 95mph fastball or splitter that falls off the table at the last second.

Third of all I categorically reject the notion that golfers are better conditioned athletes than baseball players today.

Fourth of all I categorically reject the notion that golfers are athletes.

So you have watched Sano play a lot over the last 3 years to judge his baseball IQ?

Nah, just from what I read from the Star Tribune sports commentators I can tell that Sayno is an idiot.

TJSweens -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/7/2015 10:30:33 AM)

Produce those columns saying Sano is an idiot.

Hicks has his 7th double of the year in early roch game, was left at 2nd.

Hit off a RH pitcher.

I liked the comment of TR (and this is as rare as blue moon) about Hicks having to go up to the plate thinking hits, and in particular, doubles before BB. Refreshing to hear someone within the Twins organization even thinking that preposterously.

More surprising than anything it came from Ryan.

Hicks is 2-3 today vs RHP

Skilz, it's great to see that your scanner is working again. That thing sure has seemed to go on the fritz a lot over the years.

This is what I really wanted to see. I want to see Hicks force his way back up here. I don't want to see him recycled through here again by default. The kid has a lot of God given ability. Hopefully this is the start of him translating it into being a ballplayer.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/7/2015 12:57:12 PM)

9th inning, Hicks 2-4, draws a walk, down 6-3

Am sure Ryan is pissed. [:D]

He scored on a double to make it 6-4.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/7/2015 1:01:25 PM)

Roch Rally falls short in the 9th, 6-5 road loss.

Hicks 2-4/double(7)/BB/2R, Pinto 2-4/double/BB/R/RBI/E(4), Rodriguez 2-5/double/2R/RBI, Ortix 1-3/Sac Fly/2RBI

Rogers 2-1 IP 6H/5R/4ER/3BB/5K
Darnell 2IP H/K/2-1 IRS
Oliveros .2IP H
