This afternoon, the Rochester Red Wings will hold a press conference regarding the affiliation of the team.

I assume they are locking in with the Twins for awhile.

2 more years, through 2018

What the heck is the matter with Buxton now? He has not started a game since the 16th and he pinch ran last night.
What a lost season for our top prospect

IMO, the coaches are tired of watching him practice striking out. So they are probably going to play him sparingly for the remainder of the Red Wings season and allow him time off to get his head straight. The Twins have no business calling him back up in September. NONE! Then, as Ed has mentioned on a number of occasions, Buxton needs to be inserted into a Fall Instructional League to learn how to recognize pitches and gain an understanding of the strike zone. Buxton is a complete head case right now. It is quite disturbing.

He has not started in the last three games. He was sent in to pinch run last night.

Funny how there isn't a speck of information on why this is. I think the media is inclined to look after Buxton for now because he is polite and respectful. I am just not sure what is up with him with regards to rounding out to be a major leaguer. This article was run last week and I found the title to be kind of strange:
http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20160525&content_id=180281068&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_l117
He views the players in Rochester as his "family"???

AAA should be a stop for him. A blip on the radar screen. If he keeps up that attitude he is going to be having a lot of quality time with his family in Rochester these next couple of years.

But what does school testing scores have to do with the affiliation of a minor league baseball team? I don't understand the correlation.

Well, the Twins FO is stupid so it appears to be a perfect fit.

MDK -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/21/2016 12:40:34 PM)

Our AAA affiliate in Rochester makes no sense, whatsoever. One would think that you could generate not only interest in the minor league team by location of minor league affiliate, that you could also build interest in the MLB club in that location and expand your fan base. No way anyone in Rochester other than a few diehards will become Twins fans. The will be Yank, Mets or Red Sox fans or they may be Pirate fans.

Look at other teams in the Midwest. St. Louis --> Memphis Redbirds, Chicago Cubs --> Iowa Cubs in Des Moines, Kansas City --> Omaha Royals, Detroit --> Toledo Mudhens,

The crazy thing the marriage between the Twins and Rochester has always been rocky at best. Why prolong a bad relationship.

Instead, try to find a location that could truly expand the fan base.

I still say Fargo or Sioux Falls. Both metro's might be considered too small but Sioux Falls metro is approaching 300,000 and Fargo is not far behind.

They could do a share affiliate between the two cities.......I know both areas are strongly Twins areas already but they could be strengthened even more with more sponsored trips from either city to Twins games.

I agree with you Miles but the Twins will say that the Sioux Falls and Fargo areas support the Twins fan base and they would not consider it. More example of the stupidity that flourishes within this organization.

Other than Dozier, the Twins aren't hitting any HR right now that usually accounts for about 75% of their runs scored.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Twins manager Paul Molitor said Sunday morning that he was worried about top prospect Byron Buxton not being in the lineup for four days for Triple-A Rochester because of flu-like symptoms. Buxton was back in the lineup and playing center field Sunday afternoon, going 1 for 4 with a triple and run scored in a 3-2 victory.

Whatever was ailing Buxton recently seems to have passed, but Molitor still wants a full report.

I hit in "Byron Buxton flu" and this is nothing new
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=byron%20buxton%20flu
It's the 3rd time he has missed more than a game because of the flu in the last year and a half.
