Looks like that player of the year went right to Kirilloff's head. BUST!

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Twins manager Paul Molitor said Sunday morning that he was worried about top prospect Byron Buxton not being in the lineup for four days for Triple-A Rochester because of flu-like symptoms. Buxton was back in the lineup and playing center field Sunday afternoon, going 1 for 4 with a triple and run scored in a 3-2 victory.

Whatever was ailing Buxton recently seems to have passed, but Molitor still wants a full report.

I hit in "Byron Buxton flu" and this is nothing new
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=byron%20buxton%20flu
It's the 3rd time he has missed more than a game because of the flu in the last year and a half.

Quit stalking Buxton.
Your daily reports are disturbing.

LEN ...

There's just 10 days left in Rochester's season, unless the Red Wings make the playoffs.

So it seems strange that the Twins would send Jose Berrios and Tyler Duffey down this late in the season. But they did.

Have they determined that things are moving too fast for the young righthanders? That what they claim. Are they trying to send a message? Perhaps. Are they fed up with losing and want to send a message that what's been going on will not be tolerated? Not sure.

But we have seen Duffey's emotions get the best of him and Berrios, after putting up sparkling numbers in the minors, failed to command his pitches up here.

Twins manager Paul Molitor was asked after the announcement why send Berrios down instead of working with him up here? (Especially since Bert Blyleven has started helping out).

``You remember the Buxton conversations?'' Molitor responded.

That's a reference to us asking him about Buxton's progress during the season. And Buxton was sent down when the coaching staff determined that the outfielder's head was spinning and he needed to take a step back.

They are closer to the players than anyone else, and it's possible they have seen frustration and confusion that we don't see when we're in the clubhouse.

``You're not doing him any favors right now and you still have to try to protect your team,'' Molitor said of Berrios. ``For him right now (it's) backing off of the pressure and trying to implement some of the things he's working on in a less stressful environment.

``I love getting guys experience. Especially where we are where we are. But it becomes a point where it doesn't seem like the right thing.''

The Twins better be right. They are in the middle of a run of prospects that can turn the program around. Buxton, Berrios. Duffey, Miguel Sano, Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco. Stephen Gonsalves, Tyler Jay, Nick Burdi, Kohl Stewart and I'll even throw in Nick Gordon. Buxton and Berrios have been sent down twice this year. Sano is trying to break out of a slump. Eddie Rosario has nine walks. Heck, Kyle Gibson hasn't taken that next step.

The Twins are on pace to lose 99-100 games this season. The only way for fans to take these beatings is if there are prospects developing who will make teams pay for these beatdowns.

If the Twins think that 10 days in the minors will help, fine. They just better be right.

Yeah, might as well send Berrios down to Rochester to see how that 91-93 mph fastball the Twins have him throwing works down there. Oh, and maybe he might actually start throwing in for strikes now and then. The Twins completely screwed up Berrios with their mechanics overhaul. I doubt he will ever be decent again unless he gets traded to another organization.

My only hope with him, Trevor May and any others?

Clean house.
Let them start over.

Perhaps a new GM/Baseball guy goes back to them and tells them to let him throw the gas.

So ridiculous it doesn't make sense.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/26/2016 9:45:49 AM)

Comments from the demote-ees:

“I was surprised,” Berrios said through a team-issued interpreter. “However, I do understand the decision. I understand they want me to go down there and gain more confidence in what I’m doing.”

This attempt to change Berrios’ arm action is a professional first for a pitcher who established a nine-inning walk rate of 2.6 in 544 minor-league innings. Through 37 major league innings, he has walked 5.6 per nine.

“In the minors you go out there and fix some little things here and there but never anything like this,” Berrios said. “They were quick fixes.”

“I mean, I’ve pitched pretty (poorly) for the past few outings,” said Duffey, 25. “I can’t really be too excited. Obviously upset, but when you don’t perform, that’s what happens.”

Black 47 -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/26/2016 9:50:33 AM)

It's a vicious, inhumane cycle the Twins play with these kid pitchers. Take 3-5 mph off their fastball with their tweaks and adjustments to help the pitcher throw more strikes. Pitcher throws more strikes but pitches are getting crushed. Pitcher starts to nibble because they no longer have their good stuff. Pitcher gets sent to AAA and dominates at that level with their subpar stuff. Pitcher returns to majors and gets killed again. Twins admonish pitcher for being a head case. Pitcher is eventually converted to a bottom of the bullpen reliever. And most fans blame the kid and call him a bust because the gutless nut huggers in the media won't call out the organization for being the biggest fraud in baseball.

I hate the game Reusse has been playing the last five or six seasons. He likes to brand complaining fans as one big singular group. No matter the issue, the fans who complain are the ones who complain about EVERYTHING. There was one article about how fans complained about the Twins not spending money to get free agents. They went out and signed Nolasco and Hughes. Then fans started bitching about how awful they were. Not all of these fans were the same ones complaining about the Twins not spending money. A lot of fans understand the Twins will always be a mid-market team. Reusse schtick about fans who complain really wears my ass right out. He complains about the complaining as a way of completely ignoring the real issue. The biggest issue with them is they don't spend the money SMARTLY, they don't raise players from their system and they fall in love with mediocre (mostly white) players who don't want to rock the boat.

Let's see Reusse criticize that. Let's see him do a write up on free agent pitchers they have brought over since Ryan's last go round and what a mess that has been. That would be a good start. Or maybe he can write something about the Twins haven't raised a decent starting pitcher since Matt Garza (and even he didn't turn out to be so great). At some point, you would think the would have the GUTS to do that. Or maybe a little something on how they keep jamming guys into positions they never played when they reach the majors. Or maybe something on the stupid extensions TR handed out and that has worked for this club. There are a million places he could start.

I heard Reusse interviewing TK last month. Whenever TK said anything that was remotely funny Patrick giggled like a little schoolgirl. Reusse is in bed with the old boy network and I hate to say it, but TK is part of the issue. Everyone listens to him like he is the Grand Poobah of Minnesota baseball. When the heck did he become Yogi Berra? TK says it takes 1,500 at bats to really evaluate a guy. Or TK says AA is actually better than AAA so let's skip guys over AAA. TK says Latin guys go too fast and that you have to slow them down (he actually said that on the radio last year). THis is the kind of shit that needs to be debunked or not taken on blind faith. TK isn't some grand wizard with all the answers. HE is very disconnected to today's game. Baseball has changed, but the Twins keep looking to the same guys (who refuse to adapt to the times) for answers. Give TK all the credit for being a good manager in his day, but he was not without his flaws or his critics. There was good and bad. Now that he has very little personal investment in this team he couldn't care less. He just sits back and plays armchair quarterback while everyone nods their heads and giggles. TK was the one raving about Buxton not that long ago and he has done a sharp about face on him. It might be a little misguided to pick on TR, but screw that. He is part of it and he really needs to just ..........go stand over there. Stop listening to him as if everything he says is some oracle from the clouds. YES he has forgotten more about baseball than any of us, but does he really see today's game for what it is? Nope.

Serving Terry Ryan's head on a platter was a beautiful thing. He deserved exactly what he got. He is hoping the Twins find a guy none of us know much about to come in and be president of baseball operations. Bring in a new president and hail to the chief. Let's just hope we don't hire a guy who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. THis organization needs to move away from the crippling groupthink that has destroyed it.

Spot on.
Your best post since long before Rodriguez stole that goat.

Thanks, Murph. I hit my boiling point with this. Berrios was the last straw for me. I can live with Buxton and Sano not hitting their mark yet. Buxton just has not had enough development time. Not enough ABs in the minors, imo. He was rushed. Sano was thrown into a tough situation this year. HE will bounce back. He is a tough kid. It's going to take more than the Minnesota Twins to break him

Listening to Bert comment on Berrios two starts ago made me sick. It was all about Bert injecting his ego into the situation. Gladden was absolutely right the other day. I was listening the radio broadcast (with the video feed up my Smartboard) in my classroom for Berrios' last start and Gladden hit the nail on the head: "You got all these guys telling him what to do and maybe the message gets lost. Now the kid's head is spinning"
Thank you very much, Dazzle! I felt terrible for the kid. He had that look on his face that said he was being put under a microscope by a whole troop of know-it-alls who want to put their stamp on him. Can we at least first let the kid trust his stuff and see how that works out? Why F him up and F with his head during a major league season? Couldn't this stuff be tried during ST next year?? OR maybe.....just maybe.....Berrios is right and he just needs little tweaks instead of a complete overhaul.

Allen needs to get lost. Sorry Neil, have a good life and don't ever drink and get behind the wheel again. It will turn out REAL BAD if you do. Enough with Guardado and definitely ENOUGH with Bert Blyleven. He might know something about pitching, but his jackass ego and personality doesn't make for a good teacher. HE's too much of a finger pointer and a "look at what I did" kind of guy.

I can't take it anymore. There was hope at around this time last season. I figured this team would have growing pains this year, but for it to be totally crushed, mashed, burned and buried like this is just too much to shrug off anymore. Treekie is about as spot on as anyone when he says the Twins have a penchant for "coaching the strengths right out of guys"
I just can't get behind anything this team does anymore. I disagree with their approach on so many different levels now. They are just destroying young players. Unreal
And I am STILL wearing my Twins gear out. I wore my cap out last night to the restaurant up the road. Plopped my ass down at the bar and kept checking in on the game on my phone. I have gotten to know my neighbors pretty well and a lot of them are almost sympathetic toward me being a Twins fan here. I am tired of that.

Sorry guys. That is about all because I have to finish up this coffee, get in the shower and head out to meet my brother for a round of golf. I will probably go over some of this stuff with him in between holes. I will come back later on refreshed and with a better attitude. I p[romise

the gutless nut huggers in the media won't call out the organization for being the biggest fraud in baseball.

That's one of the biggest problems.

Reusse/Souhan do on occasion

But the daily guys want to keep their sources and have good relations, so they don't bother to call them out.

The process is backward. As noted multiple times, trying to make nearly every pitcher do the same thing? Dumb. Just Dumb.

Amen.

Well, I don't get the goat reference. But amen anyway.
