Pretty cool to see McCarville back
Love her combo of big beast/smart facilitator
Always thought her BB IQ is off the charts good.

I doubt she has much left in the tank, but she should be able to spell our starters with some solid minutes.

I see McCarville as about a 10-12 MPG player at this point in her career.

Depending on match ups could be a bit more but helpful for sure.

So how do the 12 teams stack up? Here are the espnW preseason power rankings before the season tips off with five games Saturday (including Phoenix-Minnesota on ESPN, 7:30 p.m. ET).

Total domination.

Maya and Syl absolutely crushed Taurasi and Griner.

I think that having four of the Lynx players toiling in the Olympics is a disadvantage. The rest of the league gets to rest and recuperate, for the most part. The Lynx do seem to be a very deep and talented team, though. We'll see how they do down the stretch. I'm predicting that they will struggle after the Olympics.

Syl with 13/9 at the half. A full offseason with the team appears to have done wonders for her.

Another laugher against a "preseason contender".

They had no answer for Syl, Maya is basically playing "point forward" through 2 games (16 assists), and our bench appear to be much improved.

McCarville may have had the play of the season so far and Montgomery plays defense like Ricky Rubio. She's everywhere - 10 steals through 2 games.

2 starters played less than 20 minutes and no one played more than 31. Our bench could be key to another title.

Here is the clip of McCarville's pass. This is where a skill set & BBIQ meet.

Thoughts through 2.

I love that we're running offense through Maya so much. Its letting Whalen play less and conserve energy. I could see Lindsay winning Gold and another title and calling it an amazing career.

Natasha Howard may be one of the biggest keys to the season. She's been tremendous on both ends and is exactly what we need. A young, physical post player. Could very well be the Heir Apparent to Brunson.

Loving our bench overall. If they can continue to keep the starters minutes down, it can really help counteract the age of some key players.

Big Syl is CRUSHING people. She's so much more integrated with the team this year. Almost impossible to stop in transition.

Speaking of Syl, watching her just destroy Griner really brought something to light. Brittney is a disappointment. She's basically the same player going into her 4th year as she was as a rookie. The only thing she's improved upon is number of blocks, and they've come at the expense of her overall defense. She's trying so hard to block everything, that she's often out of position and appears to be freelancing instead of playing within the system. She averaged 15/8 in her 2nd year and I was assuming that was her absolute floor. Now it appears it might be her ceiling.

I remember when Griner was drafted and the "experts" thought it was the end of the Maya Moore era and the start of the Brittany Griner era.

She doesn't appear willing to put in the work to get better.

Phoenix could implode this year. They're asking Taurasi to do way too much. They'll be better if/when they get something out of Dupree - whose off to a horrid start.

Meanwhile the Lynx just keep winning. Just a little tougher this time. Here is the ESPN recap.

SEATTLE -- Maya Moore had 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots, and Sylvia Fowles scored 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting to help the Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm 78-71 on Sunday.

Lindsay Whalen added 14 points and Rebekkah Brunson scored 12 for the Lynx (3-0). Whalen moved past Sheryl Swoopes into 14th on the WNBA career scoring list with 4,882 points.

Alysha Clark led the Storm (1-2) with a career-high 20 points. Jewell Loyd scored 14 points and Sue Bird added 12 with nine assists. Rookie Breanna Stewart had 14 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, but was scoreless -- on 0-for-10 shooting -- in the second half

Bird hit a jumper that pulled the Storm within two with four minutes to go. Minnesota responded with a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to pull away as Fowles made a layup, Brunson knocked down a baseline jumper and Whalen hit a 3 from the top of the key to make it 74-65.

Just curious about what others think about this.
Is Taurasi the Kobe of the WNBA and Maya Moore is the LeBron?

Lindsay has every reason to slow way down, and become even less important here, but she won't.
Highly underrated reason for the continuing success.

Winner.

TV game tonite 5/25: Lynx @Phx is on local FSN 9:00pm tip time ...... only down side (hopefully) it'll be the Mercury crew doing the broadcast

FSN-North too cheap to send a MN crew on the road?

Lynx up by 8 after a quarter. Amazing how when Griner went out with foul trouble the Mercury started playing better. Taurasi is just a thug now. She essentially spent the first quarter throwing elbows and shoving people and then whining incessantly when somebody gives her so much as a dirty look. It seems to work because she got T'd up and then got a few ticky tack go her way.

She really looks like she doesn't care either. She picks up a foul and gives it one of those "oh well" looks. She even smiled after her 3rd. Maybe she is just happy to get off the floor with Syl out there. It really isn't even close between the two of them right now.

Truth be told, Penny Taylor looks better than Griner or Taurasi right now.

All the talk of the Lynx being "old" , the Merc are playing "old" Taurasi, Dupree, Griner ..... everyone other then then oldest player on their squad that is, Penny Taylor. She nearly won the game by herself as the Lynx decided to take a nap late in the 3rd & much of the 4th qtr. Too many lazy passes & turnovers.

Ugly win but 4-0 is 4-0 and when it makes Phx 0-4 its even better
