Phee might will this team to a title.

Napheesa Collier scored 42 points, tying the WNBA single-game playoff scoring record as the Lynx advance past the Mercury.

Phee's 80 PTS over her last 2 games are the most points over any 2-game stretch in WNBA Playoff history

Congratulations to Cheryl Reeve and the Lynx on a great season. This may be one of Reeve's best jobs ever. She built a team low one individual star power, but great on synergy and coached them to the #2 seed. The only blemish is the inexplicable decision to trade out of drafting Angel Reese. The Lynx have beaten all of the top teams in the playoffs this year. The post season could be fun.

Totally explainable. There is a reason she dropped to 7th and why her own team passed on her once before drafting her.

She's a generational rebounder. But she's the worst offensive player in the game and her defense is almost as bad. And I doubt her ego would've let her take a supporting role on this team.

Has the player we drafted had an impact?

Angel Reese is ranked as the WNBA's 2nd best rookie:

She's a generational rebounder. But she's the worst offensive player in the game and her defense is almost as bad.

She's a post player that blocked 16 shots in 32 games, shoots 39% from the floor and under 44% from inside of 5 feet. She gets so many offensive rebounds because she's constantly rebounding her own misses.

She would not mesh with this Lynx team at all.

I believe there is a connection between the NBA and WNBA. So it's weird to me that the Connecticut WNBA team and the Phoenix NBA team would share a nickname. I thought there was typically a connection between the WNBA team and the NBA team in the same city; like a Lynx is sorta like a Timberwolf.

It’s not that complicated. The Connecticut Sun have no connection to the Phoenix Suns.

They started out as the Orlando Miracle. They were going to go under, but were bought by the Mohegan Indian tribe and relocated to Mohegan Sun. Hence the name.

Lynx advance to the finals for first time since 2017. Napheesa Collier has gone into full beast mode for the playoffs. Last nigh was 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. She passed Big Syl's record for most playoff games with 20+ points/ 10+ rebounds.

Looked like the Lynx were on the verge of another big come back. Down 2 with the ball, but it unraveled from there. New York closed a ith a 14 - 2 run from that point. The Lynx can close it at home if they hold serve.

PA is giving Carleton shooting advice on the air right now. "You gotta be catching and shooting free throw line extended from the left elbow. You left some on the table last night." To her credit, she kinda told him to pound sand without saying it.

I'll start with what a great finals. Great viewing. That said, and I concede I am not an expert, but that called foul with 5 seconds left last night was a clean block. And I hear the refs say it was a foul because defender wan't in legal defending position???? Never heard that called, don't know what it means, defender got ball, and then this morning I see the incredible shuffling of feet Stewart got away with while trying to get the shot off. Terrible, terrible officiating. Driving me to believe in conspiracies about NYC being guaranteed a win.

Am I wrong?

It was definitely not a foul on Smith. The body position crap was to justify not overturning the call. Last night it was Phee's turn to get every ticky tack foul called on her. The officiating was bad through the whole series. It's a shame McBride rushed that 3 with 5 seconds left. She had plenty of time and space.

That said, hell of a series. The Lynx don't have the depth of talent that NY has, but they had the edge in synergy. In the end, the Lynx didn't have an answer for Jones.

FWIW, LeBron James agrees it was a bad call.

"I’m sorry but that wasn’t a foul! Let the damn players dictate the outcome of a close battled tested game. "

Big time travel. The last shot should have been a drive for an easy layup instead of taking the 3....the lane was there.

It was pretty much rigged, but not quite since we did technically have a chance to win.

Our point guards are terrible. Had to hold my breath every time #10 or #2 handled the ball, which was pretty much every time down the floor.

As already discussed, officiating sucked. Key play was a travel not called and the foul not reversed. That said, I knew there was no way in hell they would reverse it in that situation, even though that is the exact situation it needs to be reversed.

Jones just elbows her was forward constantly. Never called for a foul. They literally would only call a foul down low if NY tackled a Lynx player. Even then Jones would whine that it wasn't a foul. Unfortunate Game 5. Both teams were sloppy.

Yes, this must have been one of William's worst shooting nights for us; contributed to a strange game when two of NY's best players also shot horrible.

It was a horribly officiated game.

That said, if Phee makes that last layup, it puts the game away.

That was crushing.

The commissioner of the league is wearing a NYC skyline dress and then the official league Twitter account say the 'trophy is where it belongs'....woof...

https://x.com/WNBA/status/1848194170432729165

Between this and the inability to manage the Caitlin Clark narrative, the WNBA can't get out of its own way. Non-serious league until proven otherwise.

In her entire career before last night, Collier had never played a game where she took at least 11 shots and got no free throws.

Last night she took 23 shots.

23 shots without a single trip to the line. And it wasn't like they weren't being physical with her or she was just chucking from deep.

What was coming was pretty apparent when Alana Smith got chopped across both forearms without a call on our first possession. No foul, just a turn over by Smith.
