I don't see us coming back in this series.

Just because we played like shit this game doesn't mean we will continue to play like shit. Have some faith.

We've played like shit through most of the playoffs.

And we are still in the finals and still have a chance to be champions.

This my friends is why there is a great show of Lynx Nations support here in Indy. Yup made the trip again
Must say was glad I was here to watch the 1 game beatdown rather then have to watch it on TV like you folks back home
Needless to say LosLynxNation down here had cocktails for all of you back home

Small league but there are 10 other teams, 5 in the West who wish they were the Lynx even right now. I do think this will be a far different game then Friday night. The Fever are a good team that has played some of their best ball during the playoffs. So I hope/expect we're all coming back home for a game 5 but whatever happens tonight, regardless of what it may have looked like since back in May when the season started thru last Friday, I know this team has given everything they had to try to do what hasn't been done in 10 yrs in the WNBA ... it aint easy to repeat.

So hope you all can enjoy the game tonight & let's hope we are all by 10pm tonight.

Hope we can pull it out. Hard to understand why we are struggling so much. Down by 7 as I type this 23-16.

Lynx good season, bad playoffs. I don't know why the Lynx performed so poorly in the playoffs. It looks like the wheels just came off.

I think the Lynx were out-coached.

It felt like they came out of the box strong, but became rudderless partway through the season - somewhat before the break for the Olympics. They never seemed to be able to regain focus; the coaching discrepancy was apparent in both the Seattle and Indiana series. LA just tried to out-score the Lynx - a dicey proposition at best.

What wins championships?

Disappointing end .
Yes, second in the league was a disappointment.
Some obvious lack of effort in the finals on D.
They started the season defending their title like lions.
They went out like kittens.
Something needs fixing, because they seemed to accept their fate lately.
Just an outsiders observation. Expected a much better end.

The Lynx were out-played. Augustus and Moore just plain underperformed. The Fever just plain looked like a team that wanted it more.

I agree Tim. I wonder if the extra practice and games on Olympic team had some affect

So the players just shoulda motivated themselves. Sounds like the strategic plan of a certain Wolves coach of recent, short-duration tenure...

Playing for the championship wasn't motivation enough? If a coach has to throw a charge into a team in that situation, I think we have identified the problem.

As an example, take two similarly competitive, capable teams. Let one have an exceptional leader and the other self-regulate. How many times out of 10 does the self-regulating team "win"?

Lynx players had ring plus gold medal. Indiana was more hungry.

Nails it for me
Those two have been the best player on the court their whole lives.
Barely even noticed them the last several times I watched.
I've read several "experts" takes on those Finals, and every one says it was a HUGE upset thats not getting called that way.
Extreme under-peformance by a very loaded Lynx team.
Will be interesting to see what this does to them next year.
Motivates or tears apart. Their choice.

I guess that is why we see such a plethora of uncoached sports teams. No reason to pay the bums when you can achieve the same level of productivity without 'em.

Putting the band back together.

Referring to getting McCarville. McCarville is an amazingly skilled big. Her passing and hands are wonderful. IIRC she has a good outside shot as well. A rebounding monster. However that was when she was on the Gophers. I hear her game may have actually regressed since then. Hopefully reuniting with Whalen will bring her A game back.

Bingo. A leaderless morass…

Just my thoughts on some of the thought here:

My short version; yes the team started out defending their title game after game from the start of the season with every thing they had. Early during the 10 gm start what stood out to everyone in the stands was the fact that there was no way they could play with that intensity, play-off type intensity for the whole season, not possible. The Lynx spent much of the season defending their title but in the end, played to just survive with little of nothing left in the tank physically or mentally and yet … they nearly pulled it off.

Longer rant :
The Lynx were just very out of character from the start of the finals and that was hard to watch. Yes early on they just refused to lose. People saw them take 20-25 pt leads & let up. Reality, they were playing at a higher level as defending champs then everyone else. In the long run it caught up with them because I don’t think they ever found a good balance even with the breaks. There were many more distractions with the Olympics then people think IMOH (No way the league should have waited till the end of the season, in the middle of two 3 gms road trips to make the team fly east the morning after a game to visit the POTUS & then have to fly all the way to the west coast the same day, on commercial flights, to have to play 3 gms in 4 days on the west coast to end the season- should have been done during the break when team USA & the POTUS were all in DC) there were some injuries and the team went from defending their title night in and out to going into survival mode. Just doing whatever YOU can to stay afloat. In some ways the Olympian forgot they had teammates & tried to save the day by themselves. Coach was too dependent on the starters, didn’t trust her reserves (less in the play-offs)other than Wright (sometimes) yes I think the coaching staff had some brain farts cuz they had a bad game plan & made little to no adjustments (unlike in 2011); Taj was banged up, Brunson had carried the team through the first 2 series & both were on fumes; Adair never got track after the knee surgery during the break, neither did Harris. In the end, they ran into the team in the league that was on a roll at the right time even shorthanded. The Olympic didn’t bother Catchings late as much because she had 3 reserve that got hot and had 2 wks in their lives playing waaay beyond expectations. They Lynx were hungry but just didn't have the chops to finish.

Anyway a new season is about to begin so some redemption is in order I think they’ll be ready.

Its about that time. I’m back. Almost, just about over the disappointment of 2012 …. Almost
Nah it was still a good season & proud of the Lynx for coming so close to repeating.

What’s happened:
Cheryl Reeve’s contract was extended; the whole staff will be back.

Erin Thorn was released/waived (has since signed with Phx Mercury)

Lynx signed 21 yr old Aussie Rachel Jarry to a contract after acquiring her in the draft (via trade) back in 2011. She is expected to come to camp and compete for a roster spot. (has a good chance)

Taj McWilliams Franklin hung up her sneakers and will be an assistant coach for the NY Liberty under new head coach Bill Laimbeer.

Candice Wiggins was traded to Tulsa in the deal that brings Janel McCarville to the Lynx. She (like Whalen) left her overseas team due to pay issues so she has been state side the last few months. Hopefully she is working her butt off and getting ready for the grind of the WNBA again. If she’s motivated & in shape coming in that will be a good thing. If not, it would be a shame.

And up next – the 2013 WBNA Draft tomorrow April 15 – prime time 7:00 pm - ESPN2

Lynx have the 12th (last in 1st rnd), 14th & 24th (rnd 2) and 36th (last in in 3rd)
With Jmac added to the 8 returning players, 2 spots are up for grabs.

There were 12 invited to be on TV for the draft

2013 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm Invitees

Alex Bentley - Penn State - Guard
Kelsey Bone - Texas A&M - Center
Layshia Clarendon - California - Guard
Elena Delle Donne - Delaware - Guard/Forward
Skylar Diggins - Notre Dame - Guard
Kelly Faris - Connecticut - Guard
Brittney Griner - Baylor - Center
Tianna Hawkins - Maryland - Forward
Tayler Hill - Ohio State - Guard
Lindsey Moore - Nebraska - Guard
Sugar Rodgers - Georgetown - Guard

Minnesotas own Tayler Hill won't be around for the Lynx to draft but I'd love to have her.
