Great review, minnyme
Took me awhile, but i finally figured it  .... season ticket holder
Love Whalens motor. Shes a force-of-nature type player.
Would really be nice to see this club get it done again. Win the whole damn thing. Again.

Wow awesome turnaround for the Lynx. They are without a doubt one of the favorites to win it all this year.

What happened to Indiana? They got real hot for the playoffs and now they lose all the time.

What happened to Indiana? They got real hot for the playoffs and now they lose all the time.

Multiple injuries to starters & key reserves. Missing guards: Erin Phillips hasn't played, suffered torn meniscus, expected back after All Star break; Katie Douglas out w/back issue after trying to recover from off-season ankle surgery; Jeanette Pohlen still recovering from torn ACL hasn't played. Catchings missed a few gms, back issue I think.
Post; Jess Davenport lost for the year.

Lots of injuries for a few teams. CT also is missing 4 players right now (A. Jones for the season, T. White, R. Montgomery and K. Lawson). NY Liberty lost guard E. Carson to ACL, Lambier gambled on post Cheryl Ford & lost, she never played a game & they cut her due to knee issues. Another post has missed a few games.

Tulsa missing only 2 key players now: (They were down 4 at one point) Cambage (ops guess she got a couple of mins their last gm) & T. Jones.
San Antonio missing its 2 best players Becky Hammon broken finger (expected back soon) & Sophia Young out for the year, ACL.
And of course Seattle is missing it's 2 best players Sue Bird & Lauren Jackson both for the year recovering from some surgical procedures.

WNBA rosters are 11 players. When teams are down to 8 healthy bodies they can apply for exemptions to add players until the injured ones return.

Yes DL I noticed that. In NBA you click on scores and the games you see will be for that day. In WNBA you click on scores games might be popping up for future dates.

How can we have such a seemingly excellent team and get obliterated by the Sparks twice. Sparks are undefeated at home and winless on the road so far. It makes no sense.

Sparks are just unstoppable at home. As we appear to be as well.

Basically we're going to either need another team to knock them off in the Playoffs, or we're going to need home court.

Well speaking of unstoppable at home Lynx by 32 over Phoenix. Phoenix last three losses have been to the Lynx I believe. Other than that they are on an eight game winning streak.

So far, no close games between the West's "Big 3". The closest was Minny's win in Phoenix - by 11.

Phoenix beat L.A in Phoenix by 16.

L.A.'s 2 wins against Minny in L.A. were by an average of 29 points.

Minny’s win against L.A. in Minny was by 24 points.

Minny’s 3 wins against Phoenix were by an average of 21 points.

The big thing that I see is that Maya Moore needs to elevate her game to a more consistent level. She was supposed to be a league super star when she was drafted and it's time to start imposing her a game a little more. She still tends to defer a little too much and also tends to settle for long range shots at times. I don't want her to start dominating the ball all the time, but I would to see her assert her game more within the frame work of what the Lynx do.

The other thing that needs to happen is the Lynx need to break this pattern of blowing away a good team and then acting as if they have made their point and wind up looking bad the next game.

She really needs to work on her handle if she wants to take the next step.

Agreed. She could improve somewhat by just being a little more willing to use the handle she already has. Improving her ballhandling along with being a more aggressive with the ball in her hands would put her at or above the elite players in the league.

Kent Youngblood:

1. Tonight’s team defense was as impressive as any game the Lynx have played this season. And, once again, it started with Whalen, who jumped a passing lane on the first play of the game. I mean, very, very impressive defense. The Lynx trapped in an attempt to keep the ball away from Diana Taurasi. At the very least it affected the Phoenix flow. Taurasi was player of the month for June. Tonight she scored four points on 2-for-6 shooting with three turnovers. It was her first game under 10 points this season.

2. And it didn’t end there. Rebekkah Brunson, Janel McCarville and Devereaux Peters off the bench did a great job disrupting the play of Phoenix center Brittney Griner, who scored eight points and had 11 rebounds, but was never really a factor. At least on offense (she did block four shots). Overall, the Mercury shot 36 percent from the field.

3. Augustus will be re-examined Monday. Coach Cheryl Reeve said it wasn’t a typical sprain, where a player rolls the ankle outward. This time, stepping on a foot, it rolled inward. She will have an MRI taken of the ankle. But I don’t expect her to play for a while, and the Lynx have a jam-packed week ahead of them, hosting Atlanta Tuesday, then playing at Indiana Thursday and at Tulsa Saturday.

4. After getting engaged to Kevin Durant, Monica Wright went out and scored a season-high 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting with three assists and three steals. She will be leaned on heavily in the short term if Augustus cannot play.

5. Maya Moore went 2-for-11 in the loss in L.A., then missed her first five shots tonight. But what a rebound. She came out and scored 14 third-quarter points on 6-for-8 shooting. She finished with 23 points, five assists and two blocks.

6. McCarville has seen just about enough of Griner. In the first game with the Mercury at Target Center she took an elbow to her lower lip. Tonight she got another elbow, this time to the upper lip.

It's all about the defense. When they play stong defense it tends to fires up the offense. Their D is like swiss cheese in LA for whatever reason.
But the match ups amongest the West Big 3 is odd. 2 of the West Big 3 protect their homecourt, Phx who know.

Late start for this next (Tue 7/9) game on ESPN2 8pm ct. ESPN got lucky w/this one since it matches up the East leading ATL Dream vs the West leading Lynx.

MRI back on Seimone showed no major injury, some degree of a sprain. She'll be in a boot for a while. I expect Monnie to start in her place. And the bench will need to give some good mins and if the Lynx bring the D, I think they'll hand the Dream their 2nd loss.

Here's a good place for Maya Moore to step up with Augustus out.

I thought that Sugar did a nice job stepping in Sun. She can only get better with this extra playing time

Facing Atlanta with only one loss without Augustus. Has Augustus game started to slip a little. Moore seems like the clear alpha dog on the team now. Still would be a huge win.

No Augustus is fine. With her out, Maya and everyone else will have to step up their games.

IMO, this team is still led by Augustus, Whalen and Brunson no matter how much Maya may appear as the "alpha dog". Maya gets to be Maya. She shines not having to be the "everything" on a very talented team. Please don't get me wrong, Maya is an incredible player and like the "3 to See" ESPN hyped Maya BIG TIME since her sohp yr at UConn. She's living up to much of that hype and she's just getting stated. But she has the luxury of playing with 3 vets who are also some of the best in the world in their own right and don't have big egos; and neither does Maya.

My Big 3 all get to play their natural positions which is huge. Maya has made a huge adjustment to shift to the 3/SF spot as she spent most of her college days as a PF so I love my Maya for that. Add Monica Wright being able to be so versatile, we have kind of a perfect storm going on. More reasons why it's fun to watch this team.
