It sounds like a lot of the success is attributed to pitching coach Piper Ritter. She was one of the most decorated pitchers in program history and has recruited and molded one pitching star after another.

And several other schools

Some of the better pitchers
Including Fiser

Are not that big

5’6” is all

Status: online 		I think the pitching dynamic changed drastically when they moved the pitching rubber back 5 feet. When they did that, you couldn't just have a Jenny Finch at 6'1" overpowering everybody.

Status: online 		Reason to hope today ... One of UCLA's few losses this year was to Michigan who just edged us out for the Big Ten tournament championship.

I counted 6. IMO there should be only one, but I get naming a first team staff rather than just a first team pitcher.

Status: online 		First game went extra innings. Our game being delayed I believe.
As I type this Arizona goes up 3-1. I live in AZ guess I should cheer for them until they play the Gophers.

Status: online 		Here's what was obvious. Amber Fiser just didn't have her usual command in the WS. The Washington game, she couldn't find the strike zone with anything but her fastball. When you get to that level, you're toast if your pitching is off because your hitters are also going to be facing All American caliber pitching. This isn't a knock on Fiser. She is the biggest reason the Gophers got to the series and I'm really glad she'll be back for 2020. It was just the worst possible time to be off.

I just wish they could have gotten a win or two for Maddie Houlihan. She was the heart and soul of Gopher softball for 4 years. It would have been nice to give to give her a better send off.

They weren't embarrassed, they simply needed to play better and didn't.
Great season that they should be able to build on.
