I don't know about you guys but it was almost more rewarding to me that we won a tight game on the road against a pretty talented team! It's good to see our team show some fortitude like that.

I would think we would rest Theilen until after the bye week. Denver at home is a good opportunity to get the defense trending in the right direction.

If Hughes intercepts that pick six, it's a different game, up 21 would have changed the Cowboy's game plan considerably. The touchdown to Cobb had a lot of luck involved. The ball went right through Mac's arms and didn't hit either one.

Maybe we should start coaching turnovers?

That isn't something that you can coach....Hughes showed that ability last year....he is rusty. Just started practicing full time 2-3 weeks ago coming off of ACL injury. Hill just coming off of a groin injury of some sort....those two played well in my book and they will be better with each week.

You sure about that?

Hughes has ball hawking skills we saw in games last year that you could not coach Waynes in 5 years. Not all have it.

I get that but plenty of teams have turnover drills. I know it's said that Zimmer doesn't do that. It doesn't seem like we get many turnovers either.

I saw them trying to rip the ball out multiple times yesterday....Harris is really good at it. I think we have 2 cb that aren't as good at Int (Rhodes/Waynes) as their backups are (Mac, Hill, Hughes). Just being in the position for a pick 6 by Hughes, Hill, and Mac show you that yesterday....all three are working back from injuries. Those plays will come.

When the ball hits you in the hands, you should catch it. I would think they practice this all the time.

There is a big difference in a game versus practice. Yes they should catch them but the most important thing is being in perfect position and having that shot.

What drives me nuts, is college DB's don't turn around and look for the ball anymore. Like Waynes, they get to the pros and never learn that skill.

I know some say Rhodes would make a good safety....I don't seem him as a ball hawking guy like Smith and Harris are. Same with Waynes...they are not Int, Fumble guys.

I wouldn't call Smith a ballhawk. Less than 3 INTs/year for his career and not a great cover guy. He's as good as anyone moving towards the line, a great hitter and he plays a solid centerfield where he can be in position to grab misfires.

He's as well-rounded as anyone at safety, but not a ballhawk.

Rewarding after the game. Stressful during it.

I agree about Theilen. Give him the extra 2 weeks so there are no setbacks when he does come back.

Can't wait to see how Winfield does in the pros. He has some serious ball skills. He also has his dads tackling skills.

He is like a more athletic version of the old man. He has the same football IQ and close to the same tacking mechanics. His dad is still one of the greatest tackling corners I have ever seen in my life.

On that catch by Rudy, I thought Capt Kirk was throwing it away!

Earning that paycheck yesterday.

Finally using him where he can make a difference.

I never dreamed I would be saying this - It's time to start the process of extending Kirk Cousins.

No, keep telling him he sucks! All kidding aside Cousins sure seems like a guy that needs that extra motivation. Sure would've been great to win that Chiefs game but yesterday was really rewarding.

Rudy without a doubt is a red zone target. Always has been the best part of his game. I've been begging for a long time for the Vikes to play to his strengths. His size and soft hands certainly were the difference against the Cowboys. He also appears to be blocking very well in the running game.

I've been watching his blocking closer lately Steve. He really is taking it seriously and it's helping Cook and Mattison a lot. You're without a doubt right about his red zone abilities. I recall you mentioning it for the last few years.

Cousins has had a pretty good year. Had a couple BAD games, but overall has been very consistent. I'd like to see him play better outdoors though.

The nice things about the throw (besides the obvious being caught for a TD) are that Cousins threw it before Rudy even made his break and the threw it to the spot where Rudy was the only guy who had a chance to get it. He nailed it. Anticipation, location and touch. That's not easy to do in the end zone chaos that comes from being in the red zone.
