This is a frustrating team, for sure. That point about parity is really true, though. I don't see a dominant team in the NFC that hasn't been exposed at least a little. The Vikings are a streaky team. They remind me of the Rams who could destroy you or just wilt.

In fairness, Cook and Mattison being out hurt.

No excuse. What team is completely healthy this time of year. Have you seen the Eagles WR's?

No, that's true. Everyone is hobbled or worse at this point in the year. It's frustrating that we flash potential and then just wither.

We flash potential against teams with losing records and wither against teams with winning records. Maybe we just aren't as good as we would like to think.

Our win over the 8-7 Eagles is our only victory against a team with a winning record.

Went to my first game at the new stadium and first packer game

Sorry I couldn't bring an early Christmas present for everyone

Couple rambling thoughts

Nice stadium to watch a game. Seems like they could have bigger concourse

The packer presence is WAY overstated. Sure there were some there but minimally different than many other teams

Cousins looked bad. Sure didn't do much with bootleg. I guess they figured since they had a good plan for our boots last game, there's no need to try them

Maybe they thought without cook our play action would not work

Defense was solid first half, but you knew they would get tired with the way offense was playing

Someone mentioned the gadget play as the turning point
It felt that way in the stands fwiw

Starting QBs with the highest percentage of dropbacks as play action, weeks 1-15:

1. Jackson 35.5%
2. Cousins 32.8%
3. Mahomes 32.3%
4. Garoppolo 31.2%

Cousins’ play action percentage vs GB: 13.9%

This is something that I imagine that the Vikings will see and try to change.

PFF gave Garrett Bradbury a perfect 0.0 pass blocking grade last night.

His second perfect grade this year, but on a much bigger sample size than the Falcons in week one (38 pass blocking snaps, not 14).

Other Vikings pass blocking disasters have graded better: even TJ Clemmings ‘ career worst game was only 27.8.

The #Vikings have gathered 17 interceptions and 13 fumbles in 2019, making them the most opportunistic defense of the Mike Zimmer era.

4th in takeaways (30)
2nd in turnover differential (+13)

Vikings defense held Rodgers to his 3rd worst performance of the year, by EPA/play.

This one is a huge point. It strikes me as a core issue with our quarterback. Maybe he is trying to be too careful, or too perfect. I noticed that he threw more than a couple of passes into the ground after holding the ball a long time.

Rodgers’ average time to throw
1st half: 2.63 seconds
2nd half: 2.07
for the season: 2.87

Cousins’ average time to throw
full game: 3.12 seconds (longest in the league this week)
for the season: 3.01 (longest, next is Lamar’s 2.92)

One offense/QB adjusted, the other didn’t.

No other spots for him on online either

Maybe move him to DT? Maybe he can use his “great leverage” there?

This is why the people making excuses for Cousins have to take a moment and ponder the truth...

Sure we have a semi shitty OL at times but its enough to play behind with more expected output than seen last eve! Sure we missed Cook and the running game and yes, maybe the offensive game plan was not quite on...

BUT its a fact Cousins looked stiff and played scared! No idea who or what gets into his head but its REAL...

So real its a huge concern any time we play a big game against a competent team.

Take into account our CBs play 8-10 yards back and the GB cornerbacks press.

Believed going in they would lay a goose egg having found out the day prior they made the playoffs + no Cook and Mattison.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of media in Minnesota calling them out, both in quantity and in harshness. The regime would be blown out of town in a market like Philly or NY.

Zimmer press conferences are a joke.

Someone calls him out and then he gets snarky and you know the press conference is about to end.

Yup. No more excuses. Excuses for not getting your job done are for sissies. I'm not saying that's what Dave is making for them btw. Just get the job done. I'm not sure if Zimmer will be gone in a first round exit situation but he should be. Take Kubiak and all the other dinosaurs with him as well. Time to get some WRs that can at least play at an NFL level to round out the corps and start passing the ball around. This run first mentality has to go.

How about Peterson(Boise St. and Wash. guy) as HC with Rivera as DC?

Just another fake tough guy so naturally our team is a fake tough team. Pure reflection of our leadership.

I'd gladly give Peterson a shot. He at least has great offensive concepts. Rivera as DC would be ok as well. I'm not sure Peterson wants to coach though.

Last night was standard. We know what we are getting from a Zimmer/Spielman team at this stage. This is who we are until they go, and we can see how the next guys fare. Might be worse, but it might be better. Staying the course is not going to get anything done.

Fan sentiment seems they need to go and try something different but will the Wilfs feel the same?
My guess is with Zimmer and Cousins with one year left we’ll get one more year before we see the start of a rebuild

I think Spielman has gotten lucky more than anything
His best picks were late rounders or FAs
It’s not like he was on Diggs, Hunter, Thielen when others weren’t
Yet we’ve seen him miss constantly on the higher picks

This team needs to start the rebuild next year as they will not make the playoffs anyway. We need to draft a legit QBOTF who can give Kirk some competition while he plays out the last year on his contract. Our overpaid vets need to go. At a minimum Griffen, Rhodes, Waynes, Rudolph and Reiff. Would anyone trade for Barr? We need to devote whatever salary we have to the oline. Ideally, Zim and Spielman are gone, Fangio gets canned from the Broncos, and then our new regime hires him as our D coordinator.

I’d love Fangio to run the D. I agree with almost everything but only exception is I’d keep Wayne’s
Only reason i say that is Hughes looks awful
Waynes ain’t Lattimore but he’s been solid
I wouldn’t mind a secondary of Waynes, Hill, Kearse, smith and Harris

Cousins is a dinosaur back there with no ability to scramble

If I were looking for a new head coach I'd find someone just coming off their first or second HC stint. I'd want someone who made his/her mistakes and learned from them. I'd want someone who tried a lot of things with varying degrees of success and failure and continued to try and adapt and change. Their record as HC would be meaningless to me. I don't want a first-time HC and I don't want an old dog with no new tricks. I'd sit and wait for one of the younger innovators that are still learning how to win games consistently and hope their team moves on from them.
