Yesterday was the game to pull the 80s style of offense out....swing passes to Abdullah, short passes to Ham/TE, quick passes and maybe even 4 wide----not run up the gut with a 3rd string RB. They were able to do that against a worn out SD Def in the 2nd half.

They have a really good pair of TEs, and a Possession WR THielen that they didn't use.

I'm not doubting that was the game plan, but the OLine made it impossible to have any kind of successful game plan.

This coaching staff should know this GB team. Clearly needed to put 2 guys on Smith and 2 guys on Adams.

The online shouldn’t be a surprise. Spielman ignored for nearly a decade. Reiff is average at best. Detroit’s fodder
The Bradbury miss stings. He couldn’t afford to swing and miss on another 1st round lineman
You could argue we still need at least 2 quality o lineman. Maybe 3
Are we confident Spielman can find them

One positive...... probably not going to hear a tomorrow post about how difficult it is to win on the road in the NFL.

But, winning in the NFL is hard. So I guess that should make us feel better.

Does anybody still want Zimmer coaching this team next season?

I don’t.

I’ve had a bad feeling that Zimmer wouldn’t learn from his mistakes against playoff caliber teams since Turtle Ball reared it’s ugly head in 2nd half against Philly before we again escaped with Minneapolis Miracle against Saints.

It’s been harder and harder to hope that I was wrong as time has shown he will stubbornly cling to his “brand” of football against good teams.

His in-game management has not improved either, and to cap it all off, his Defense and prized high round CB’s have crashed to earth in a big way.

I had hoped that fear of losing his job would force him to evolve and improve, but I don’t see any evidence of that occurring.

I hope that Ziggy and Mark realize what they have with this staff.....so we can try again, hopefully with someone less stubborn and able to innovate and adapt to the players they have and the teams we’re facing.

How many snaps does Kearse get?

It seems he always makes plays or damn close.

Instead, Rhodes and Alexander keep racking up tackles.

I’m betting Zimmer plays everyone who is not hurt vs Chi
I don’t think he wants the performance to be the final game before a playoff game
Thielen with 0 catches. Hard to believe in 2019 football

I think Bradbury still has a shot to be pretty good. I just don't want this regime "coaching" anyone any longer. It's not working. We need some fresh ideas at a minimum. Even Kubiak is a dinosaur. We dont have a defense like the Broncos did a few years back to carry his gameplan to even a playoff win.

Agreed. Keep hearing how well the D played but Adams had a Monster day. Also let a guy name Lazard look decent

Put it this way. Every single team that will qualify for the playoffs would hope they could play us first if given the choice.

I hope you are right man. But he had some pretty harsh criticism at a Senior Boel week. One report had him constantly being “pushed back” and had trouble holding his ground. You may be able to get away with being a tactician in college but NFL is a different animal. He just seems to struggle with the size and speed of NFL lineman

Let’s keep in mind he has been one of worst rated blockers in the league. I love the optimism but I need to see more

I'd like to see what next offseason could do before we give up on him. Having said that if he's performing poorly I have no issue with him being benched.

GB defense has been mediocre to bad most of the season.

Why has Cousins looked so scared of them in both games this season?

Because the Packers know the handful of plays the Vikings run, and beat them to the spot almost every time.

Nothing protecting, nothing on the throws. Was beaten after that first series.

True. Any team we play in the playoffs will know exactly how to shut down our plays. GB took away the screens and didn't allow us to run over them. Game over.

I wonder if the Philly Special play was the turning point. It worked to a tee, just a bad pass. Probably up 13-6 or possibly 17-6 if we complete it.

Then the Cousins brain fart on 4th down completed the momentum turn.

Speilman should not be allowed to pick a QBs Offensive Lineman kickers or punters.

He sucks at it.

After they get bounced in playoffs Zimmer will convince Speilman they just need a few more 1st round DBs.

Good point Mark. on that 4th down play Adam was clearly frustrated. Seems like he got this way at the end of last year as well.

Thielen wasn't even close to open. Cousins locked in on him and threw it. I would have to look at it again but I think he had time to find someone else.

I agree, "Shucks!"

Spent hundreds of dollars to witness it first hand ... sigh

Met some dude in a parking garage elevator that we shared some food and drinks with in a local pup that was a hoot before hand, though! Some of you might know him

Going into next year the Vikings are up against the cap, with an aging and underachieving defense, a bad offensive line, a QB who wilts under pressure, and an inflexible coach who’s unable to adapt to today’s game. When it comes to the Vikings, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I have a ton of respect for you guys who have been following for 4 and 5 decades. I'm 42 and am seriously wondering if I'll ever see them even get to a super bowl. I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for me or anything. My life is good/great most of the time and in the end its entertainment. One just reaches a point where you wonder if it's just going to be endless kicks in the nuts.

What SoMNFan said....

Part of what keeps me motivated is that I want to eventually see "justice" for my beloved Purple. I want a year where the breaks and calls and bounces just kind of skew our way, and we seize upon it all, rolling to a Lombardi trophy. I want it for BoomBoom Brown. I want it for Nate Wright. I want it for Fran Tarkenton. I want it for Chuck Foreman. I want it for Ed White. I want it BAD for Jim Marshall and Carl Eller. I want it DESPERATELY for Bud Grant, who provided me (us) with about 11 years of the most swashbuckling, innovative, kick-ass football ever played...all 3 phases of the game.

So I take care of myself, try & live as healthy a lifestyle as possible, in part to live long enough to see that justice delivered. I'm 63 and going strong, people. I can do this for another 30 years if I must, but gosh darn it...please don't make me wait that long!
