Nick Foles already has restructred his contract with the Bears, per source. He still has three years left, still has $21 million guaranteed left, but Foles now has the ability to void the deal after either of the first two years depending on his performance. Deal includes upside.

Who is surprised we kept him in the fold? He presents no challenge to Capt. Kirk, and he's cheap. Terrible, but cheap.

Is there a deal for Harris in the works? I heard there was interest, but that's about it.

Thanks for helping out, Kevin! I think I'm going a little crazy being stuck at home without hockey or Sox baseball to keep me grounded.

He's a big guy good at stuffing the run up the middle. You all know I like DT's who have matured. He is a man.

It's worth pointing out that Michael Pierce was a NT in a 3-4 defense. Dom Capers is a 3-4 guy.

Linval Joseph got two-years/$17 million.

Michael Pierce got three-years/$27 million.

Pierce is four years younger.

I could see Zim using Hunter and Barr at OLB.

During Hunter’s first training camp, Zimmer brought in former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Greg Ellis to work with the team. After working with Hunter, Ellis brought Zimmer a take that in 2019 we would have called “hot.”

He told Zimmer: “I think this guy is going to be like DeMarcus Ware.”

Zimmer’s response: “Are you kidding me?”

Before he got to Ware status, Hunter needed some work — uhh, a lot of work — on the technique side.

“He had a tendency to run straight up the field and turn left as opposed to taking the proper angle, getting on the offensive tackle, using his hands and using his athletic ability,” Zimmer said. “Basically, he’d run straight up the field, make a wide turn, have to turn left and didn’t have time to get there.”

When the Vikings played against the eventual Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos in ’15, Hunter played the role of Ware on the scout team. Zimmer liked the look of Hunter standing up off the edge and started using him that way. The sacks started to come with the 6-foot-5 rusher picking up more sacks in his rookie year than the entire time in college.

We need four linebackers in a 3/4, so I would rather use Odenigbo as the other DE and let Barr blitz from one of the LB positions.

What would be the nickel version of a 3/4? A 3/3/5 Didn't the Patriots do that quite a bit last year?

PFF rates Pierce as very good in 2019, elite in 2018, almost elite in 2017, and very good in 2016.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

If we go to a stack defense, then I hope we keep Harris. He's the kind of safety who could make that work. (ie. versatile)

I asked Warren Ludford about this stack defense. Here is his reply:

I think Zimmer is contemplating a hybrid defense. He's got the personnel to do it now.

It's hard to be 360 pounds at 6 foot tall. I hear he actually reported to last camp at 390. I hear he is a great run stuffer.

Here's what I found on RotoWorld about Pierce.

Vikings agreed to terms with NT Michael Pierce, formerly of the Ravens, on a three-year, $27 million contract.
Pierce is a truly elite run-stuffing nose tackle, and he'll replace Linval Joseph in Minnesota after Joseph was released to save cap space before signing with the Chargers. 27-year-old Pierce tips the scales at 6'/345 and will be a foundation piece on early downs before coming off the field in passing situations.
