Dantzler was 6th on PFFs list of available players-

50. CB CAMERON DANTZLER, MISSISSIPPI STATE
If you could guarantee me Dantzler could add 15 pounds of muscle, he'd likely be the second cornerback on our draft board. With a talented all-around profile, his lack of any sort of strength is worrisome projecting to the NFL.

I knew they'd get Zim a developmental guy. Didn't think it'd be this early. In a vacuum I don't hate it. I hate it compared to some of the talent we saw go off the board this round and with Muti and Weaver still available.

Here is what Jeff Legwold says. Ran a 4.6 in the 40 by the way, that's what he is referring to.

Dantzler's underwhelming 40 time at the combine raised eyebrows and could affect where he gets selected. The game video shows a cornerback with a big reach, who competes and understands route combinations. He kept himself in the hip pocket of some of the nation's best receivers.

Danzler is a good pick. Ran poorly at the combine but he is supposed to be athletic and strong. 6'2 (but skinny) ... another aggressive CB.

nfl.com has him in the 2-3 rd range.

Seems like Dantzler has been very successful against some of the best WRs in the country including Jefferson and Chase of LSU.

I don't feel he is a reach at all. I think if you get him in an NFL conditioning program, put a little weight on him, he's a safety. There's time to develop this kid, but he is a solid pick, not by any means a reach. The secondary is set, next is IOL! Excellent draft so far, very well done!

Doesn't sound developmental at all. Seems ready to play right now.

Yep. Do not like it at all. Trade up would have been ideal, but even without it we had talent on the board that could have helped this team now.

Reading a 4.6 40? Think he ends up S depth?

I'm with you Dana. Seems like an excellent pick that's ready to contribute now. We also needed another CB who isn't a smurf. If he's a safety that's good too.

Well. We’ll soon find out just how much speed matters at corner. 2nd slowest 40 for corners at the combine.

NFL.com rates him as a 2-3rd round prospect and rated just behind some of the corners we considered as going to the Vikings in the first round.

New England trades back into the 3rd round, moving up...

Hard for the Vikes?

As for Dantzler, I actually like the pick. He's long and doesn't back down.

Add a few pounds, and he could be a steal.

The Fornelli list I am using had Gladney as #3 corner, Fulton #7 and Dantzler #10. So based on that he went in good spot for us.
