Still trying to figure out Spielman's draft "strategy". Yes, occasionally you find a diamond in the rough, but that's very rare. You're much likely to find an instant starter with earlier picks in the draft. I took a look at last year's roster and where each starter was picked by RS: Offense Diggs - 5th Thielen - udfa Rudolph - 2nd Smith - 2nd Cook - 2nd Elflein - 1st Bradbury - 1st O’Neill - 3rd Defense Rhodes - 1st Waynes - 1st Alexander - 2nd Smith - 1st Harris - udfa Barr - 1st Kendricks - 2nd Griffin - 4th Stephen - 7th Hunter - 3rd Most of the guys on the roster started right away or were heavily involved in year one. The 2 undrafted players, Thielen and Harris, took several years to crack the lineup. All that said, it would seem like a team who isn't in full rebuild mode, and has a few specific holes to fill, would do everything possible to trade up and get the 4 or 5 players most likely to step in and start right way. Spielman got it right addressing WR, DB and OT, but then he missed on DT and OG by not trading up.
