We may have got a diamond in the rough. Never heard of this guy but PFF rated him as a 93 pass blocker? That's unreal. Best pass blocking score in college football.

One of the most consistent linemen Oregon State has had, Blake Brandel was the Beavers' iron man in the trenches as he started and played in all 48 games of his career. The 6-foot-7, 308 pounder became a staple at left-tackle as a redshirt-freshman in 2016 and never looked back as he logged the third-longest starting streak in OSU history.

Brandel was named All Pac-12 Second-Team as a senior in 2019 and was previously a Pac-12 Honorable Mention in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He started the majority of games at left tackle but logged nine starts at right tackle during his redshirt-freshman season in 2016.

In his senior season, Brandel earned a 93.1 pass-blocking grade by PFF, the best mark in the nation. Overall, he earned a 90.0 grade, which was the sixth-best mark nationally. In the 2019 season, he allowed just one sack and four overall QB hurries.

Blake Brandel OL, OREGST
Height: 6-7, Weight: 307

Was not really on the draft radar. Movement skills would be his biggest plus but balance is lacking, as is a road-grading, mean streak. This is a scheme-fit pick for Kevin Stefanski's zone-blocking scheme. (Chris Trapasso)

Stefanski? So we already traded him to Cleveland?

The Vikings drafted OT Blake Brandel with the No. 203 overall pick (sixth round). Brandel played 97 percent of the offensive snaps for Oregon State since 2016. Was second-team All Pac-12 at left tackle.

Draft analyst Dane Brugler on new #Vikings tackle Blake Brandel: "Brandel has athletic limitations, but he moves with composed feet and patient hands to strike-and-anchor, projecting as a possible NFL swing backup.''

I love the trades for a higher picks next year. Next year take the 4th we picked up from the Bears and turn it into a 3rd in 2020. Then a 2nd in 2021. And finally a 1st in 2020. I would always be doing this with a couple low draft picks.

Brandel average athletically. Last year we got Udoh, an elite athlete.

Worst part of the bio: He doesn't figure to be a plus run blocker in any scheme.

Pre-Draft Analysis
Metellus is a well-built safety with longer arms, big hands and average top-end speed. He masks OK burst and fluidity with physicality, instincts and length in coverage. He doesn't have center fielder range. Metellus has very good ball skills. He's a willing run defender and sure tackler. -- Steve Muench

I'm cool w/ that. If we would just dump.Mannion for a better veteran backup, the position would be okay. I don't know what they see in Mannion at all.

Me either I wanted in real time Lamar Jackson at 30 when we took Mike Hughes....How would that have looked we could have played the string with Cousins and not extended him....

Could you imagine? I almost think that's too much QB for us. We wouldn't even know how to coach him properly.

Pack goes back to back OL projects... the media is hating on their direction and laughing at how Rodgers must feel seeing no WRs selected in a deep position draft.

Don't you think Zimmer would love a run first QB? Bring out the RPO and option game.

Seriously - I think Jackson is only successful with about 3 organizations and head coaches. Harbaugh is a perfect coach for him. Harbaugh should be in the hall of fame. Win the SB with a statue then completely change the entire approach for Jackson. Impressive as hell.

PFF MIN Vikings
@PFF_Vikings
New #Vikings Tackle Blake Brandel
Average 830 snaps a season and only allowed 5 pressures in 2019, and 80 total pressures in his career.

Vikings Corner
@VikingsCorner
The #Vikings selected Michigan safety Josh Metellus at No. 205. He ran a 4.55 40-yard dash (59th percentile) at 5-foot-11, 209 pounds. Metellus had 41 solo tackles, two interceptions and seven PBUs last year.

Draft analyst Dane Brugler on S Metellus "Might not have the high-end athletic traits that will earn him a starting role in camp but if he gets into an NFL game he might not give the job back showing the toughness required for downhill work & just enough range on the back end."
