Vikings Spin on Twitter thinks this may very well be the guy the Vikings select with one of their first round selections. He's had some injury issues, but if the team plays this year he will be ready to go.

I was wondering who will play nickel. Would it be Hughes, if he is the selection?

Maybe if we want a true nickel, you take Robertson in the 2nd. He might not be there when we draft in 3rd.

Hill, Hughes and Boyd seem to be at their best outside.

Hughes did play nickel in his rookie season before he got hurt.

We'll see who we actually draft. I suppose it's still possible we acquire a corner in free agency.

To me, he looks like the guy to get at 22 or 25. Gladney is another, or CJ Henderson (who will likely be gone). The other way to go would be to draft someone like Amik Robertson in the late second or early third and plug him straight into the slot.

But we have to get a starter-ready CB if at all possible, so that means you might have to "overdraft" someone, probably at 22 or 25.

I am comfortable that there will be good options at CB- enough so that we could even possibly trade back a few picks and still get a quality choice.

I have discovered that there is another version of the draft trade chart- an updated version than the classic Jimmy Johnson trade chart. It seems to have less rounding of the numbers, so perhaps it's more precise. I doubt that it's too different. Anyway, this link highlights the Vikings selections. Of course after Trader Rick gets through, there will be some changes on draft day, but this chart may show us how much he was able to get value in the trades.

https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp?RequestTeam=MIN

It's interesting to note that according to the chart, either of our first round selections is worth more than the rest of the draft outside of the first round.

If that is true it seems odd that a team can trade up in the first round by adding a second or third. I only want to trade up if we get a huge upgrade in talent over what's likely to be there standing pat or even trading back. I would trade 25 for an early second and third in a heartbeat, barring some unbelievable value falling to us. I think there will be a large drop off from the early 2nd to the late second.

Assuming the big three WRs are gone at the Vikings pick which WR is most worthy of our pick 25?
Jefferson
Mims, Higgins
Shenault
Reagor?
I don't think any of those will last to our pick in round two. So take one of them or pass and get the best we can in round 2 or 3. This is why I'm hopeful we can trade back from 25 and get an early 2nd and third. I know we need to get a CB and OL probably a little more than a WR.

We might not have a good option for a tackle as the more I hear about Jackson is he isn't ready and the more I hear about Jones he will be gone before our pick. 25 is probably to early for Ezra Cleveland at tackle or Ruiz at guard. Really seems like a trade back at 25 is the option, barring a to good to be true value.

The addition of Sharpe makes the urgent need for WR drop. I believe we can get a very good WR in the second round and our receiver room will be pretty solid. If we stand pat, do not trade back, I believe we go CB at 22, Fulton, Henderson, others who fit this spot. At 25 maybe Jones drops, but if not and no trade is available, get Ruiz, he plays center or guard and if you need to move Bradbury to guard, that option is open too. That would make the first three picks, CB, OL, WR in the third DL and Safety are on the menu. That's my hope!

How do you like this ranking for the Vikings? The ranking may be altered by who would be a better fit for our team.

My tentative top ten 2020 WRs:

1. Jerry Jeudy (Top 10)
2. Henry Ruggs III (Top 15)
3. CeeDee Lamb (1)
4. Justin Jefferson (late 1)
5. Brandon Aiyuk (late 1)
6. Denzel Mims (1/2)
7. Jalen Reagor (early 2)
8. Brandon Aiyuk (1/2)
9. Michael Pittman (2)
10. Donovan Peoples-Jones (2)

I don't give a rat's ass about Sharpe, however I agree with you that unless there is a large disparity in the value we need to go CB/OL in the first round. If somehow we could move 22 or 25 and one of our late 3rd to get 2 early seconds we might be able to address CB/OL/WR with premium players at each. That said which of the WRs I mentioned do you think will be the best?

I'm going to confess that I don't have a clue who I want. I guess it doesn't matter. Spielman doesn't care what I think. He doesn't answer my calls.

OK, so if I had to take one of those guys you have on the list with our 25th pick, I'd take Mims. For me is was really tough between three guys that I liked, but I believe Mims will be a stud NFL WR one day. ( the other two guys were Jefferson and Reagor, fwiw)

Rosen got trade for what a second to MIA? I highly doubt Haskins would get a 1st for Washington. Especially NE when they supposedly like Stidham so much.

Will they be any good this year with Stidham as their QB? It seems like it's forever since the Patriots had a losing record.
