This popped up in my youtube feed today and I'll share it because the guy really struck a chord with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiNqMaRnRsg 117 points against in the final two minutes of halves this season. Has to be 30-40 points more than any other team in the league this season. You can't win consistently with those kinds of numbers. There were at least three or four games where a team scored twice in the final two minutes of one half. Hmmm, I wonder what Kirk's record would be if we were just a middle of the pack defense? He’d probably get too much praise, just like he gets too much criticism now. Nothing’s impossible … the right situation, the right bounces … I could see him being successfull in the right program. He is what he is, a gigantic clump of seaweed with a very good arm sticking out. My favorite description of Cousins. Cousins was not this team's biggest issue this year, it was our HC's conservative philosophy, imo but he is part of the bigger problem/puzzle of winning a Super Bowl, which is all I care about. I hope our GM doesn't take a band aid approach and go all in 2022. If I were the Wilf's I'd look to 2023 and beyond. New GM, hires HC and trades QB. I'm more concerned with upgrading the TEAM, even if if means a STATISTICAL downgrade at QB. I'm thinking we go for our franchise QB in 2023, as this years draft class isn't strong? Clean slate, contend for division in 2022 and Super Bowl runs after, in a perfect world. This year was the band aid approach year. The defense needs a complete overhaul. A new GM (along with a new coach) will understand that. Next year has to be a rebuilding year, so keeping Cousins one more year seems likely (as he won't be extended, and his contract will no longer affect the salary cap in 2023). Even more reason to trade Cousins while you can get draft pick(s) for him. Like, I said, if I were the Wilfs; I'd look to next season trying to compete for the division and retool but the Super Bowls runs most likely will take a season or two for the new regime as will finding the franchise QB, optimistically speaking. Unfortunately, we, as Vikings fans, have to be patient, again. I am excited by some of the pieces we have and what our future holds with a great GM hire.

Hey Wilf's, let's build a "Perennial Super Bowl contender" not a "perennial playoff contender".
