Looking like Fiala and Boldy are doing well together. Now we just need to find them a center other than Gaudreau.

Last night's game was a fun one for sure. KK looks like he didn't miss a beat and no signs of the injury bothering him at all.
As I said last night, the pairing of Fiala and Boldy looks to be creating some chemistry that could make for another dynamic line for the Wild.

The good:

Boldy continues to look like a legit NHL player. As stfrank pointed out, Boldy and Fiala seem to have chemistry.
Kaprizov looks 100%. Missed one game and the Wild managed to steal it.
Addison is growing into his role.
Benn is kind of an unsung hero on the blue line. Just steady. Constantly makes the right play and the right decisions.

The bad:

Can't keep giving up shots by the gross.
Still pissed that Gaudreau is on the roster instead of Pitlick. The whole "we had to let him go because he was too talented for the role" bullshit doesn't wash.

Another good: stayed out of the penalty box (except for once). What a difference it makes to not give the other team man advantages every eight minutes.

I agree about Benn. I actually had been watching him and was fairly unimpressed early on. I even referred to him (in our household) as "just a guy." But listening to the commentary about him last night, and watching with a different point of view because of that, I agree that he really is a solid asset on defense.

Boldy adds a skill guy with size= difference maker.
He really has a knack for making plays, like a King size Zuccarello.
Love that he is helping Fiala shine, Kevin has to be digging that.

It’s amazing to open nhl.com and not have to scroll down to about #60 before you see our first guy 😀

Yeah it is kind of nice to have a guy in the top tier for a change.
Speaking of NHL.com, I went there today and voted 10 times to get Hartman on the All Star team as last man in. You can vote 10 per day, so doing my part to try and flood the votes for him to get in.

Do what you got to do, but IMO any voting format that allows anybody to vote more than once is instantly invalidated. One person. One vote.

Maybe you can get the pillow man to sue the NHL for fraud. LOL

More hockey today. I hope everyone's lucky enough to have MLK day off because it's a day game on a weekday.

Wild at least got a point out the game yesterday. We got out played the first period and fell behind by 0-2, but the next 2 periods were much better.
Another one of those fall behind early and fight back to tie it at the end games, with no score in the OT to earn our point.
We played them tough and showed we can hang with the Avs even without our top center and top 2 defensemen.
Boldy and Fiala continue to make plays and look good together.
KK is something special and so fun to watch.....so glad we have him long term.

Would have loved to have ended the Avs long win streak, but the odds weren't in our favor. So exciting to have a come-from-behind, though, and send it into overtime.

This is a scrappy team and SO fun to watch.

I've seen the controversial goal but only bad angle online vies. Also heard Evanson talk about it and how he can't wait to see the camera angle the NHL had to make the decision that it was a good goal. Did they show anything during the game that would confirm it? Seems pretty shady at this point.

Basically, Dean is calling their BS and saying "prove it".

After watching several shots of that goal, and the best one (as usual) was the one from above, I felt it was a good goal. The only unknown was exactly at what point the whistle was blown, because Kaapo held his position (basically with that skate and pad right on the line) for some time and then suddenly swung his leg back into the goal, apparently (because we couldn't see it) dragging the puck in with it.

Did KK wait until the whistle to relax his leg, or did it happen before the whistle? The replays we saw didn't have the sound.

But bottom line, it looked like a good goal because it's similar to ones in which a goalie catches one under his arm, but then slides into the back of the goal.

Thanks. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. It's never good to call out the league unless you have proof. Even then though it can be harmful. DE didn't pull any punches, that's for sure.

I didn't think the replay confirmed a goal. I don’t think it apparent where the puck was under KK, let whether that part of him crossed the goal line. Remember the puck in its entirety has to cross the line and the replays didn't show that.

This is from Russo on the Athletic:

The rule that the puck needs to be seen completely over the goal line has seemed to disappear in the past several years. I’ve shadowed the NHL Situation Room in Toronto during a game night three times over the years, and officials there have said that goals can be awarded if logic prevails.

In an email exchange after Monday’s game, NHL senior vice president of hockey operations Kris King told The Athletic the league always likes to have visual proof of the puck over the goal line. But in this situation, he said, the league knew where the puck was in Kahkonen’s equipment and was able to determine, by video, where the puck was on the skate between the pad that it had to cross the goal line.

He shared a screen capture and video with The Athletic. He said using all angles, review officials found the puck on Kahkonen’s laces and proved it was there when the play finished because the video shows the puck falling from the same area once Kahkonen pulls his skate and pad over the goal line.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1483227583248355329

The only problem I had with the call was it was called no goal on the ice and was overturned by the powers that be in the NHL video room.

At least there are no back to backs.

I just looked at their normal schedule for March and April and they have 7 back to backs in the final 2 months of the season.
They will be playing pretty much every other day for those 2 months with only 2 days off 3 times in March and once in April.
Like I said, it will be a real grind to end the season.

A perfect example of how important it is that we have two very good goalies.
