i haven't noticed anyone mentioning this so here it is; in OT, the first play after the Jefferson catch at the bills two-yard line - it's 1st down and goal...we run wide right and get stuffed for a couple of yard loss....

the bills had 12 men on the field - not 11 men and another running/walking to get off, but 12 players defending the goal....

watch this clip of the end of the 4th qtr and OT, and stop at the 35:37 mark and count the bills players...i heard o'connell mention it last night at his presser, and i heard it again today...it checks out....

If the refs were swaying the game and not "letting them play" Shelly would have been flagged for PI and the Bills would have been 1st and goal to go.

By then we would have been 60 points ahead after the Bills got called for 30 pass interference penalties if they had of just called it by the rules.

Bingo!!!!

Their DBs were holding, interfering all day long. Ne'er a flag was thrown. How many flags? Ne'er.

Not one right. 30 PIs that could have been called. ZERO called.

KOC has backups prepared on both sides. Brandel played the last quarter. Shelley, Boyd, and Booth

Team is so better prepared and seems organized and focused even on the road when most needed.

Helps to have that veteran HOF cb playing well.

Peterson has to be roiding. How else can his resurgence be explained?

Mostly being a heady veteran.

I remember when they signed him; I was thinking; more hoping it was similar to the Charles Woodson signing for GB. He has shown he still has it.

Back in his prime he goes yard on that first INT

also, that interception came on a 4th and goal play...if peterson just knocks the ball down, we get the possession....

It's fine. Odds have nothing to do with respect or even who the setters think will win.

They're simply a tool to encourage betting to be most advantageous to the house.

The one that prevented Hock from jumping was the one I found most annoying. I don't mind letting them play but that one gave him no shot to elevate for what is probably an easy catch for him.

Re kicker. I think we're going home with the girl we brought to the dance. I think we'll throw the support to him in hopes he straightens things out.

I think so too. I think part of the team's resilience is based on the coach's steady hand in trying to get the most out of 'his' people. (Same with Ingram who I would have bailed on long ago)

I had a feeling when we were getting all the training camp reports about Joseph kicking out of his mind ... that he would struggle a bit.

Stereotypes of Vikings fans:
- What is it, four or five lost Super Bowls?
- You cry about the refs a lot, and where it as a badge of honor.

I rarely whine about the refs. You know what, tough shit. Plan for the worse. Get over it and play harder or you're benched.

I was actually pointing out that I didn't mind letting them play. I definitely don't think 30 pi penalties should have been called. That's the one that I was thinking "damn I wish we could have got that call." That's all.

Vikings Film Room: Illegal contact causes Kirk Cousins’ first interception
Tyler Forness

The Minnesota Vikings found a way to beat the Buffalo Bills 33-30 in overtime, but they had some mistakes early on that put them in a hole. One of those was an interception by Kirk Cousins as he misfired a pass to K.J. Osborn down the field.

The play is one that is worth looking at deeper because it’s not as simple as it appears.

The Vikings run a three-man progression on this play with Adam Thielen running an out route at the top of the screen, Justin Jefferson running a crosser from the slot and Osborn runs the backside dig.

The defense appears to be running QQH (quarters nearside, cover-2 farside) and this is a good play to beat that. The out route is the last in the progression and, while it’s open right away, it’s covered by the time Cousins would get to it.

What he does see is Osborn about to run open into an open hole in the zone. All he has to do is get by Demar Hamlin and it’s an easy pitch and catch. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy.

Hamlin commits illegal contact by getting himself in position to blatantly disrupt Osborn’s path. That knocks him off axis, which slows him down just enough to cause Cousins to fire off-target for the interception by Christian Benford.

Should the penalty have been thrown on Hamlin? Probably, although throughout the context of how the refs called the game, it makes sense that they didn’t. I would have called it personally but it’s just another item in the line of multiple officiating mistakes.

As much grief as Cousins gets for his decision-making, this one isn’t on him in the slightest, unlike his second interception.

I hate the wide runs inside the 5. We seem to get tackled for losses more often than not.

Yes, I'd be complaining if a bad call influenced the outcome but it didn't. Every game is full of missed calls and referee miscues.

If you replayed every snap by any OL in the league in slo-mo ... there'd be a penalty on every play.

Even the Davis non-catch on their last drive had to be viewed through a microscope. It took several views to catch it and it wasn't by much.

I did see a lot of grabbing but that doesn't always equate to interference ... sometimes its well done / doesn't impede the WR / walks the line ... sometimes its out of the ref's line of sight etc.

Just part of the game.

Just a personal take regarding in essence multiple pages of posts complaining about the refs. Then again, a single poster's whining is probably responsible for half of the posts.
