Status: offline 		The irony is that Pagan may be one of our more reliable relievers so far. He has had a fair amount of good outings, but he gets completely destroyed when he is off.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Hundreds of feet from the action, in the bullpen in left field, Jhoan Duran was preparing himself in the seventh inning. It would seem he was preparing to face superstar Shohei Ohtani.

But he didn’t.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli opted to let Griffin Jax face Ohtani, after he already had given up a single and a triple, wiping away the Twins’ one-run advantage. Jax’s 3-2 pitch to the star came close to clipping the corner but was called ball four. Jax was left in to face the next hitter, too, and surrendered the go-ahead run on a Hunter Renfroe single in the Twins’ 5-4 loss on Friday night at Angel Stadium.

“Jax needs to, in his role, needs to go out there and pitch and find his way through innings,” Baldelli said. “ … He’s a key member of our ‘pen, and we’re going to lean on him still at times, even though he’s not throwing the ball as well as he can. … I know it was not an easy decision, but we’re going to let him pitch in this situation.”

So, what situation was the Twins’ best reliever preparing for?

Baldelli said he would have been brought in to face Ohtani had the Twins (24-21) still had the lead. But once Jax gave up a triple to Mickey Moniak to tie the game, they pivoted away from the idea of bringing in the flamethrower,. Instead, they stuck with Jax, who has now absorbed four losses this month.


Isn't that Einstein's definition of Insanity? Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome?

Status: offline 		Last night was the best chance for a Twins win. Varland has been good but he is young and unpredictable. Lopez on Sunday facing Ohtani.
Both games have produced a 64 and 66 % win chance for the Angels.

Which is why Jax and Pagan are on the roster

There really is no depth worth promoting to work in the bullpen.

A couple starters forward
bullpen a couple steps back. Again

Ortega is probably next

Really need Thielbar back

Another example was last week vs the Cubs, Kiriloff in the game is 3 for 3 with two home runs and a double....and Rocco PINCH HIT FOR HIM....Dumbass...the ****er is LOCKED IN. I don't care if analytics favor removing him. Sometimes you leave the guy who is LOCKED IN, IN THE GAME.
