On the show quarterback, they highlight a play early in the game at Philly last year. They run Cook up the gut for -1 yard. Kirk says he should have checked out of the play based on the look of the D. Coach says the same. It was obvious to everyone within a half mile of the line of scrimmage. But he just ran the damn play. Meanwhile Mahomes is identifying D schemes after getting picked and is talking on the sideline to his coaches and players about how to make them pay - and then does. Mahomes is allowed to design plays (must be approved by Andy Reid) and is shown calling and performing them for easy TDS. Meanwhile Kirk is speaking the existing play calls that are givin to him on Tuesday into his phone so he can practice saying them out loud during the week. Yes - Kirk works hard - to stay slightly above average.

So Mahomes never ran a play he had bad vibes about and wished he would of checked out of it later. There isn't a QB that hasn't done that. You make it sound like Kirk does it every other series.

sigh

Technically the series on TV makes it sound like that. Of course there are exceptions to all of this - tons of them. When Kirk ran the ball in for a TD against Arizona (I think?) that was an exception - and what a great one! The series showed that too and filmed coaches takes on it after the fact (coaches loved it). These are still just exceptions though. The theme of the show is clear to me. They are highlighting an elite QB, an above average one, and a poor one. Mahomes has won two super bowls and played in three and won the division title every year he's played. Cousins has one playoff win. Mariota gets benched.

I disagree. Game 2. Kirk says it's one of those moments that he realized he wasn't comfortable yet in the [new] system. "Our guy" is going to give you the truth all day regardless if it makes him look bad.

Probably some bias here and people are seeing what they want to see I'll concede that but this series focuses a lot on how difficult it is to play QB. There's much more to it than physical ability. It makes me wonder how those that aren't super motivated would look with an in-depth view into their job performance.

Eight billion people on the planet and we have one of the guys that can win us a SB. This would be a good time for everyone, for one time, to drop all preconceived notions and just roll with some positivity - "negativity sucks!" One time!

"wasn't comfortable yet in the system" Dude's been in the NFL for 10 years. Favre came to the team in 2009, took one look at Chilly's kick-ass offense, and hijacked the playcalling. He didn't need to get familiar because he'd played the position enough to have an understanding of the game. Kirk doesn't have that. I disagree 100% that we have one of the people on the planet that can win a super bowl. Acknowledging this doesn't make me negative, a bad fan, or indicate an agenda.

It is extremely myopic of you if you can't see how the Vikings can win it all with Kirk.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Iā€™m still not convinced that you arenā€™t purposefully trolling while being fully aware of how damn funny these posts would be if they were in fact, trolling.

DF no trolling whatsoever. I've seen many less talented QBs than Kirk win it all. So it's very easy for me to see us winning it all with Kirk. That's why I think you are being incredibly nearsighted to not be able to envision the Vikings winning it all with Kirk.

This "winning it all" talk is comical. A SB contender needs to be superior in the trenches which we are not on either side of the LOS. Even Mahomes couldn't overcome a leaky oline when they faced TB a couple years ago. Yet some posters think Kirk can do what Mahomes couldn't?

You make a good point. When I say we could win it all with Kirk it is assuming improvement in other areas. I'm just stating that Kirk is good enough to get it done.

Sure. Put him on the 2000 Ravens and he has a chance.

But it sure is rare to not have a QB that can carry a team to the big win, instead of just being along for the ride.

Agree. Also, once we go down the road of "get everything else on the team perfect and then he can win just like Dilfer did 22 years ago", then what's the point of having a Kirk Cousins? Put anyone back there if that's our strategy.

He can't PLAY like Mahomes, but if Cousins is extended a year at say $30 million they can add the $28.5 million from his void years and PAY him ($58.5 million) like Mahomes.

This is a good sign. This defense might be significantly better, because it's a significantly better system than last year's, and the holes are being filled.

I have big concerns about the CB room. Other than Murphy they are very raw/inexperienced and most have injury concerns.

I'm curious. What kind of ceremonial objects, rituals and deities are involved in praying to the Oort cloud?

Discounting the multitudes of TEs, most of Kwesi's acquisitions have been on defense. I'd guess those acquisitions have had more injuries, college and pro, than normal. Might have been a way for him to try to get value, be it via draft slot or salary.

The two that may end up surprising are Gowan and Williams....the two big CBs.

I really hope the reports on Pace are true. He seems like a good find. I'd hate it to turn out like the Kyries Hebert situation.

He had a good collegiate career too so he's different than Kyries Hebert. Read that the level of competition was mainly what led him to drop.

A lot of players get cut in part because they didn't get enough reps in camp. Pace isn't in that boat, and with a lack of talent at LB he should IMO be able to make the team (I think he gets plucked if they try to stash him on the PS).

Definitely agree he makes the team. I guess I have a pretty good feeling about him. Saw him play a few times in college. I hope he turns out like I feel he's capable of.

I thought it was his his height. The quote I read said words to the effect that he isn't 6'4" like a Penn State guy or 6'5" like a USC guy, but he is the guy that Penn State and USC wish their guys played like.

The #Vikings have waived (non-football illness) T Sam Schlueter.

Why is there no concern about the non-football illness that likely ended Sam Schlueter's career? These guys aren't just slabs of meat. Best of luck to him. I hope he gets well.

Pace, barring some fluke injury, absolutely makes the team. Listening to Purple Daily about Friday nights practice, it sounds like he is getting reps that they expected Asamoah to get. Almost like he's already jumped him in the pecking order.
