So basically a 2 year, 100M guaranteed for Kirk.

Who were they bidding against?

Did we offer 2/80 fully guaranteed and he made Atlanta beat it by 10M/year?

I honestly don't care.

They can have him for peanuts for all I care

Minshew is still available. We still need an interim guy while a youngster gets ready.

You could do a lot worse. He's a solid QB.

Agreed. It's not like we're looking at playoffs next year. It's really all about our drafted qb anyways. Plus this buys KOC at least 2 more seasons minimum.

I wouldn’t mind Darnold either.

[Schefter] Former Dolphins LB Andrew Van Ginkel agreed to terms on a 2-year deal with the Vikings for $20 million, including $14 million guaranteed. The deal was confirmed by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha.

This is a really good pick-up.

quote:

Fit in Brian Flores’ Scheme

Brian Flores wants versatility in every one of his defensive players, including his edge rushers. In order to confuse offensive lines and protection calls against his blitzes, Flores will sometimes drop a defensive lineman into coverage, leaving an offensive lineman unproductive while a defensive back or linebacker blitzes by him. But if dropping into coverage, the defensive lineman or outside linebacker needs to execute his coverage assignment. Van Ginkel really ramped up his coverage grade last season in Miami, with an 87.3 coverage grade on 147 coverage snaps. He had an interception and four pass break-ups.

Of course Van Ginkel can also rush the quarterback. He had 53 pressures on 321 pass rush snaps, including 8 sacks. He also had five batted passes. His pass rush win rate of 18.2% (9th best) and pass rush productivity (PRP) score of 10.1 (13th best) led to his earning the 7th highest pass rush grade (90.6) last season among edge rushers. Both his pass rush win rate and PRP score were higher than Danielle Hunter’s last season.

Van Ginkel is also good against the run. He had the 18th best run defense grade among edge rushers last season (76.3) and has been a good run defender for the past four seasons. Van Ginkel is also familiar with Flores’ scheme, having played in it for three years.

Plus he's a Midwestern kid whose nickname is "Thor".

My brother, a SF fan, texted me that he just heard it. I'm still searching for a credible report.

Sorry for jumping the gun.

I'm just so giddy right now with Kirk leaving.

I'd be very happy with a Minshew signing at a reasonable price.

Yep I'm looking for any bona-fide evidence of Hunter going to SF and nothing is there.

Hot takes by David f.: even if we sign a minshew or similar qb we’ll win at an eerily similar rate as compared to the last six years. 2nd hot take: I’m fine if they start Mullens. JJ will have 2000 precious yards and the team will go 3-14 netting us the #1 overall pick. (Assuming we still own that pick)

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

I think many quarterbacks will breathe a sigh of relief if this is not right.

I wouldn’t mind Darnold either.

If we sign one and don't just go with Mullins, Hall and Draft pick. They are just a bridge if the Rookie they draft doesn't steal the job a la Russell Wilson

Ok, Van Kinkel, Greenacres? and now Cashman put them with Pace Jr and I'd say our LB corps is about filled out. How about some defensive backs, a running back and a bridge QB Kwesi?

Of course they are. No one is suggesting we go with Minshew or Darnold as our QB going forward.

But a guy like Minshew is a much better bridge than Mullins or Hall.

Depth and special teams guy. I was hoping for one starting center/guard, but the good ones are all off the market.
