Twins seem to almost be gifted the 2024 Central.
Now it looks like the Twins are desperately trying to give it away.

Desperately?
Deliberately??

I would say trading Polanco and gaining Gray and Gallo salary space wouldn't be either of those.

Trade Polanco and a Prospect for Seattle SP Gilbert and we would be in better shape then 2023.

Better shape for the Pohlad’s wallets?

Money well spent is better to look at then either.....Gallo was a waste of 10 million after the first 2 months. Julien and Lee can replace Polanco production......trade for a pitcher like Gilbert and find an OF and DH. A producting Minor league system allows for that.

A.producing minor league system. The jury is a long way out on Wallner and Julien. Remember, Miranda had a good rookie year and couldn't hit AAA pitching the next year. Larnach is an aspiring Joey Gallo. The pitchers either flame out or wind up in the bullpen. Lee? Who knows until he actually gets here.

Sorry Phil, replacing the guy who came in 2nd in Cy Young voting with a, less expensive, lesser pitcher so they can add another Michael Taylor caliber out fielder, benefits nobody, but the Pohlads.

I am looking at Wallner, Julien, Ober, Varland, Lewis that contributed mightily. Lewis and Julien in the playoffs were our offense basically. Lee & Severino are at the doorstep. Rodriguez may be our starting CF this year. So yeah there is a ton of talent there.

Lewis - I'm sold, assuming he can stay healthy going forward.

Julien - looks over-matched against LHP.

Wallner - according to Matt, there is a hole in his swing.

Like Miranda, these guys could look like completely different hitters in year 2.

Ober - finally stayed healthy and hit the wall. Playoff start was not good.

Varland looked promising in 2022. Not so much in 2023 until they moved him to the pen.

Lee, Severino - you have no idea what they are until they actually reach the majors.

Rodriguez? He's 20 years old and hit .240 in A ball last year. You're ready to anoint him as our CF this year?

Against LHP in his rookie season; cmon Sweens. Rodriguez isn't being annoited by me---he is a top 100 guy (Just like Jenkins and Lee) except he is just getting back from injuries.

Wallner, Julien, and Lewis were our best hitters the 2nd half. Ober basically was on an innings limit and hit a wall but the Minor League system got them prepped.

You can't just assume Julien will figure out left handed pitching. Especially when he has to hit to justify his glove in the lineup.

Rodriguez is being announced by you alone. Top 100 or not, nobody else is saying he could be our starting CF next year. Everyone else gets that at 20 years old and never playing above A ball, he is at least 2 years away.

Are we still talking about the Minor League developing players or not? Baseball America has the opinion that Rodriguez is a viable CF sometime this year...not my opinion.

If your take on Julien is that is will never hit LH after 1 season and you ignore what he did all season and the playoffs.....very poor take.

MLB.com lists his ETA as 2025. Again, he hit .240 in high A last year. It's quite a leap from that to starting CF next year.

So Gilbert is BETTER than Gray? Ok
And I guess anyone CAN replace Maeda.

It always looks bad on 12/1. Last year did also.

I think they will trade for 2 starters and sign/trade for a reliever.....Gilbert and maybe a TB starter (Glasnow) and I would try to sign Hicks (STL/TOR last year).

Polanco and Farmer being sent out. 135-140 Million payroll.

Have to send Kepler out to make it work. The Twins "insiders" are saying despite the Twins claiming a $125 to $140 million target, they are only interested in $125M end of that range.

If they were really serious and need to stay in that range---Trade for Gilbert and Glasnow, sign Soler and Hicks. Trade away Kepler, Polanco, Farmer, and Vaszquez.

Another rumor is that the Rays may want to part with Paredes. Young guy that plays 3 positions and only is guestimated to make 3.5 million....if only the market wasnt' held up by Ohtani and Soto right now.

Dude had a rough April/May, but was really good after that.

He was quite dominant the 2nd half of the year. Gave up 14 hits and 9 runs in 122 PAs. 1.91 ERA, .135 BA, .214 OBP.

I realize that...8 million a year for 2 years is a no go. Same for 12 million a year for Maeda. They don't pay their non leverage and 4th starters that coin.

Yep it always turns out well for teams that overpay a low leverage, middle reliever and a 36 year old 4th starter.
