RE: Gus.

I think it's easy to see why based on everything I've read about him. His MO has been to come in to camp a bit out of shape and he doesn't take the offseason real seriously. That means it takes him the early part of the season to get right.

Reports, this past offseason, was that he was pissed at the trade talk/Wall talk and came in super prepared. He has the skills (obviously with his play this year).

Everything starts with Kirill Kaprizov, who leads the league in points and is the early favorite for the Hart Trophy.

This is what scares me about this team. We are way too reliant on him. Almost all the offense has to flow through him. Boldy shows flashes but it's still not enough. If KK gets injured, we are sunk.

Zuccarello coming back will help but Russo says they are trying to free up enough money to make a move for a rental. I have no idea how that works.

IMO I think that the dlineman we traded for and last years pick will add some offense from that side also.

Why are we playing ou #2 Goalie
On the back end against the better team?

I don’t get it. 🤷‍♂️

My guess is because we are down a few guys and don't match up well against the Kings as it is, so let's get points where we can for sure. I didn't watch the whole game, but Flower was holding his own from what I did watch.

Yep. I think the Wild was outshot something like 35 to 23.

We need Gus back soon before we squander the cushion we have built up. Floppy always kicking rebounds out right in front just isn't cutting it.....

Injuries are playing a big part in this slump but realization has once again set in. This team will get bounced in the first round again.

ST's are killing us
Secondary scoring outside of the first line doesn't exist
When Gus is not 'on' our overall goaltending sucks

What happened to our vaunted farm system? It was only 2-3 years ago we were voted #1 in the league. It's not like we depleted them with trades.

No room on the roster for our young guys because we had to extend 30+ year old guys and give them NMC contracts......
Kirill has more goals then all of them combined I think....

Well Jeff, after another ass kicking tonight, I would say they are who we thought they were after all.
We are sorely lacking on talent. Currently we are a 1 line team with a couple of extra pieces and a couple of quality defensive pairs. Beyond that all we have are a bunch of journeymen bottom six players that are functional but in no way good enough to make a run.

What's scaring me is we are starting to let this get in JW's head. He was our #1 prospect and you'd be hard pressed to see anyone giving up a real asset for him at this point.

Wally looks uptight and robotic out there. Maybe once the Floppy tour is over he can finally settle in and play like the top goalie everybody said he would be.

I remember that ranking raised a lot of eyebrows at the time. The feeling among the skeptics was that the Wild had a high volume guys projected to make the NHL on a 3rd defensive pairing or bottom 6 forwards. Outside of Danil Yurov, there is very little top tier talent.

Looking back I'm wondering how we got that high rating for prospects when the Iowa Wild have been awful for years and never seem to develop anybody. The only top prospects that have panned out are the currently slumping Boldy, Rossi, and Faber.
Now the cupboard is bare other than Yurov and Buium. Hopefully Ohgren can be something other than another bottom 6 grinder....time will tell.

Faber isn't even our prospect.
