I'll say this. No matter what happens they've done much better than I predicted. If they still this next one at home it's going to get super interesting. One thing we probably forget because I'm not sure we've ever had it. Having the better goalie is a huge advantage to playoff hockey.

Yup, you just got me to edit my earlier post.

Last nights game was as fun to watch as any Wild playoff game I can remember in a long time. The best part is there are no passengers........everybody is all in on every shift. Love how our top line is completely shutting down their top line and out scoring them by a long shot. Keep it up and they may just suck me all the way back onto the GusBus......

Very fun to watch.

1st line is dominant!

My only complaint is I would rather see Rossi on 2nd line than Freddy G.....

Another good game Saturday even though we lost.....
Series tied at 2-2. Can the Wild win 2 out of 3 with 2 of them on the road? Odds are we don't move on but they did give us a few playoff games that were fun to watch.
As usual, maybe next year.

The hardest part of the loss was that it seemed we didn't even try to get it out of our zone most of the OT period before the goal. I don't know if we were that tired or what but we just didn't give ourselves a chance.

He may be an idiot, but keep in mind that there is momentum at play when you're skating. It's hard to stop on a dime, and he was only about an inch past the blue line. The timing is pretty close to instantaneous in a fast hockey game.

But anyway. Crap. Just another typical Minnesota loss.

Mark Messier was of the opinion that Nyquist should have known better. He was all alone on the other side and should have had no trouble timing the play. Went as far as to say he was extremely disappointed in Nyquist.

This playoff exit upcoming will have taught me one thing. There is hope for this team. Gus totally redeemed his recent farts with a fantastic season. Either Fleury taught him something about prep or the threat of the kid overtaking him shook him up. Either way I'm happy there.

Also, there's a lot of grit in this team. We just need more secondary scoring. Boldy has made a huge step (the Team USA stuff really upped his game) and KK is KK. It'll be interesting to see what BG does with the cash coming in. We desperately need a legit 2nd line. If we can achieve that we can piece good 3rd and 4th lines out with what we already have.

I like the optimism. I'm going to wallow a bit in what always feels like an inevitable thunk to end a season. I hope I'm really, really wrong.

I think integrating the 2 young Defenseman will only help the offense (Girichek and Buium). They have to pick which defenseman they can get rid of this offseason. Spurgeon is a captain and not as tradeable so I have a feeling it is Brodin and just the way the postseason looks for lines; Rossi looks like the one getting traded.

BG needs to dump at least 3 of the 30-something forwards to make room for some younger, bigger, faster forwards to make up that new 2nd line. Ohgren could be one of those guys assuming they are willing to let the young guys get more minutes without pulling them at the first sign of a mistake. Hynes needs to give the young guys as long of a leash as the old guys in my opinion. If nothing else this team has looked more like a playoff team than our previous teams did.

True, I would dump:

Merrill
Bogosian

That frees up space for the 2 young guys

Hartman
Brazeau
Nyquist

Nyquist has been an absolute bust of a deal, and I liked it at the time. Forget his boneheaded play that lost us game 5. Overall he's done nothing since he joined. Just a waste of a 2nd round pick. Something must be physically wrong with Vinny H. He's not the greatest but at least adds a spark.

Lastly, and this won't be popular. Please take the C away from Spurg. He's a great story (and a pretty good player) but he's not what this team needs at C.

I would rather keep Hartman and dump Gaudreau just because we need someone on the team to stir things up and play on the edge. After KK and Boldy he has been our best forward this series too.

We need to give the C to Kirill and see if there are any takers on a trade for Spurg. He has been a great player for the Wild but the time has come to move on.

Just sloppy defense allowing an Eichel breakaway goal.

I'm fed up with Hartman’s dirty play. I'd just as soon dump both him and Freddy.

Yeah I could live with that too. I go back and forth with Hartman because when he is on he is good, but the tendency for the cheap shot negates any good.

Well it ends like usual again.......
BG better make some changes and let some of the young guys play next season. This should have been the final try for many of the 30-somethings.....we have already seen their best and it isn't enough.

Hartman literally takes me back to the days when we had Voldamort on the team. Gritty heady player...good. Plays with a chip on his shoulder...good. However is more than willing to drive a vulnerable player's face into the ice on a faceoff...or deliver a dirty knee to knee hit to knock someone's best defenseman out of the playoffs. The only difference between Hartman and Cooke is that Hartman will always stand up for his teammates. Cooke would instigate and turtle up while somebody else fought his battle.

Harman is hard to peg. He'll play fantastic, at times, and then just disappear. He's also a cheap shot waiting to happen. At least with Freddie G you know what you are getting night in/out. If they would quit promoting him to lines he doesn't belong on....he'd be a very useful tool, IMO. Good 4th line C.

Instead we demoted a first round pick to play there for some reason.

Rossi is gone this summer. According to multiple league sources, the Wild offered Rossi a five-year, $25 million contract earlier this winter that was not accepted. That pissed off Guerin and sealed Rossi's fate with the Wild in my opinion. We are in dire need of good centers and giving up on Rossi could very well come back to bite us.
It is going to be a very interesting summer.

They need to go after another scorer like Marner to go with KK, Boldy, Yurov, and Ek.
