Which do you like better?

Sticky Change Trade or A Slight Shuffling?

Points so miniscule that they'll literally never matter.

It's a placebo button.

Nice review of the Thielen trade at ESPN.

Vikings bring back WR Thielen from Panthers
Vikings get: WR Adam Thielen, conditional 2026 seventh-round pick, 2027 fifth-round pick
Panthers get: 2026 fifth-round pick, 2027 fourth-round pick

Vikings grade: A-
Panthers grade: C+

The conditional 7th round pick can upgrade to a 6th if Thielen can only play 9 games or less. An injury hedge.

Murphy could still end up on the PS:

The waiver claims are starting to roll in after today’s 11:00 AM Central deadline, and the team was not awarded any players during the waiver process, while two of the players they waived yesterday were claimed by other teams.

One former Viking got claimed by the team with the highest waiver priority, as linebacker Dorian Mausi was picked up by the Tennessee Titans. The other player was defensive back Reddy Steward, who was claimed by the Dallas Cowboys.

This means that all of the other players who were waived by the Vikings ahead of Tuesday’s 53-man roster deadline have cleared waivers and can come back to the practice squad for the Vikings if they should choose to bring them back.

UPDATE: Jeremy Fowler of ESPN is reporting that OLB Gabriel Murphy, a bit of a surprise from yesterday, is coming back to the practice squad.

Of course, one downside to signing Thielen is that one of our freshly minted newbies is about to be separated from their nfl dream and forced to become a sign spinner, professional line stander or sock puppeteer.

I heard that will be new sunglasses both opening up at the Mall of American soon.

So if a team wants a PS player, I get he has to be signed to their active roster and all that.

But, can the original team proactively instead bring him up to it's own active roster (after they get word that another team wants him)?

Does the player have to go to the team that wants him?

Also saw this: The league implemented a rule allowing each team to protect up to four of its practice squad players from other teams. True?

Its not like a draft, its a free agent singing. Players are under no obligation to sign with a team if a contract is offered. Although I'd imagine most players would prefer an active roster contract to a PS one.

And say another team offers Murphy a contract. There is nothing to prevent him from coming to us and telling us about the offer and giving us a chance to add him to our roster instead.

NFL teams can protect up to four players on their practice squad each week, preventing other teams from signing them to their active roster. This protection typically starts on Tuesdays and lasts until game day, after which players are again unprotected. However, a protected player can still be activated to their team's own active roster for a game and then return to the practice squad without losing their protection status.

That's sweet about the ability to protect players. I've wanted that for years. Just A spot...for QB development. I like this a lot.

Thanks. Nice that teams can rotate who they protect.

So I guess Monday is a "free for all" as no one can be protected that day.

IIRC all transactions during the season are done starting Tuesday....Since There is still a game on Monday nights.

But I could be wrong.

And Thielen was double covered most of the time in Carolina. He won't have to deal with that kind of coverage here playing with Jefferson and Addison.

Always liked Thielen's hands. He'll certainly help on 3rd downs and in the RZ.

While I still think Kwesi got bent over in this transaction I'm glad to see Thielen come back home.

I'm a bit surprised nobody claimed G Murphy. Dangerous leaving him exposed but glad we retained him.

Undrafted. Played in 2 games. Played 35 Defensive Snaps and 6 on ST. Had 1 Tackle.

Probably not that much of a risk.
