It's just standard Souhan crap. It boils down to don't sign Rodgers or Cousins. Sign Ryan Tannehill.

:) ok, i can fill in the blanks from there.

I'd be in on trading a 5th rd 2026 pick for Sam Howell.

That is one of the rumors...but essentially it will happen after the draft to preserve picks.

The hope that JJM proves he has the skill, intelligence, leadership, and guts to take this team all the way, soon, is all I really got going for me. Interest wise.

That's the main thing... QB.

But there are some sub-plots. The draft is always interesting. And can at least the first draft pick be good enough to start? Will the new acquisitions pan out? Oft-injured was a pretty consistent theme for them, so being healthy at camp is a consideration.

2 of them I'm not really worried about though (not that it matters )

Allen had the pec tear but came back and played pretty well.

Fries broke his leg. Which, I'm sure, hurt like a bassturd.....isn't a massive injury for a 26 YO.

I expect those 2 to be g2g like normal.

Agree on those two. Hargrave - who isn't one of the top signings - had a triceps tear but it was early in the season. Not bothering to look up the rest, it's of minor interest and once the season starts it's more about the overall health of the team.

Regarding the QB situation...I wonder if one of the options the Vikings are considering for back up QB is a CFL or UFL QB.

Are there any guys there that might fit?

Rodgers said his face-to-face meeting with new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey did not go as he envisioned. It was then that he learned of the team’s decision to move on, by means of a conversation which ended very quickly and which Rodgers added was lacking in respect. New York ultimately released him with a post-June 1 designation, but before that move officially took place, he was free to speak with potential employers.

On that note, Rodgers confirmed he has had conversations with the Giants, Vikings and Steelers about a potential deal. He noted a willingness to play for $10M in 2025, adding he is not insistent on receiving a multi-year deal to continue his career. Considering the current market for quarterbacks, a one-year commitment in that price range would certainly be feasible for any number of suitors. Several dominoes have already fallen amongst signal-callers, however, and more vacancies will be filled during the draft. Despite what Rodgers termed positive conversations with the likes of Brian Daboll, Kevin O’Connell and Mike Tomlin, therefore, nothing is certain regarding an agreement being worked out.

Not that I want Rodgers....but if he'll play for 10 Mil....we might want to consider that.

No.. but because the universe, hates me in particular, I’ll be wasting another season, watching a stupid mofo, ruin another season as the bandwagons first swoon like girls, then crash like Tesla auto driver cyber scooters, at the reality of an old puker has been destroying the franchise, again.

Have fun with that.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Rodgers. He's a total culture killer at this point. I hated the Favre thing but at least you know he was good in the locker room.

You can see right past AR's 'plan' though. He's clearly lurking in case they feel JJM isn't ready or he gets hurt. It's his last, legit, chance at another ring and would one up Favre.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44721358/nfl-vikings-draft-strategy-limited-resources-2025

Excerpts:

Adofo-Mensah has already dipped into his 2026 pool as well, having traded away likely fourth-round and sixth-round picks to acquire left tackle Cam Robinson and running back Cam Akers last season, respectively. Neither remain with the team.

Poor draft results have forced the team to make massive forays into free agency in the past two offseasons, and the team has committed to a league-high $315 million in cash payroll for 2025, not counting deferrals, according to Roster Management System.

Their roster also had the highest average age based on weighted snaps, and that ranking is unlikely to change after they signed or re-signed five likely starters this spring who are 30 years old or older.

To date, however, the Vikings have gotten just 107 starts from players drafted between 2022-24. That's the second lowest in the league.

Renting players on 2-3 yr contracts (spread out over 3-4 years) to plug holes is one thing. Kwesi did it very well last year.

But its just not sustainable over time.

Also, almost always targeting oft-injured or coming off of serious injury vets to minimize expenditure ... its like playing Whack-a-Mole with an old taped-together, ramshackle mallet. Nobody should be surprised when the thing snaps off and we end up with another crippled 2016 type season.

Everybody understands that you can't predict injury, but we are playing with fire at this point.

If the approach was measured / restrained and we were balancing it with building depth in the draft, well okay then.

With Kwesi its more like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4rR-OsTNCg

Poor drafting. Risky free agency behavior. Then there's the whole playing our best ball Sept-Nov thing we have to resolve.

Much to do in April!

I'm barely excited by this draft.

Most years its like watching the Masters, this year its like the Guam Invitational.

All of this is admitted conjecture but I'm gonna push back a bit for the KAM-inator. I've been really critical of him, especially early on. No doubt his first draft was an absolute disaster. There really isn't even an argument there. That said, I still think he isn't a "football guy". He's not RS making decisions. He seems to me to be more of a collaborator. AKA - let KOC tell him who to draft on O and the DC on defense.

If that's true, you can pin that first draft on Eddie D. Which, I also believe, was a KOC hire.

He's done great in FA and got us out of Kirk's contract. I believe the rumors that KOC was trying to keep KC's and it was KAM that cut the cord.

That said, he better hope both JJM and Turner pan out or he'll never get another chance whether or not it's his fault, IMO.

If KOC and the DCs are telling KAM who to draft, that almost assuredly extends to free agency so it would be difficult to say he's done great in FA. Most anyone could have cut the deadwood from a couple of years ago. He didn't get out of KCs contract as much as the contract ran its course... but he still (supposedly) offered him a one-year deal. At best he gets mild props for not caving in to a multi-year deal with all of Cousins' favorite extra bells and whistles.

Anyway, if the coordinators are pounding the table for certain players at that point he's not even president of player personnel let alone GM. With Brzez handling the contracts, "just what do ya do here?" would be an apt question.

Yep, the 2-3 year contract MO is not sustainable over time. You end up paying a surplus for any upper tier FA, that's simply due to FA market frenzy.

The draft is the make or break piece of being a GM.

Good points. It does make me wonder if there is real caution in resigning him from the Wilf’s position. They were quick to resign KOC and he apparently knocked it out of the park in Indy when KAM was sick. There were rumors of KOC getting more power but I never heard what came of it, if it was even true.

Agreed. That is what is holding us back from being a factor in the post season. JJM and Turner becoming pro bowl type players would erase the sting of 2022 draft a little but the jury is still out on KAM and his scouting staff.
