He should come dirt cheap.

He got bumped off the seahawks depth chart by darnold, drew lock, jared hall and jalen milroe.

All things being equal, if you compare context ...

250,000 for UDFA Brosmer is huge (the record for a UDFA is the 300,00 we gave Carter) compared to the after-thought, low cost of trading draft positions in the 5th rd. for Howell.

I don't think we're done yet at backup QB.

If you look at all the backup options that were available this offseason ... trading picks in the 5th seems like a very low risk flyer on a guy ...

Not a strong investment in fall back, plan b strategy.

Think of them as an extra 5th rounder, a couple 7th rounders, and a couple 8th rounders. But not bad.

That's not quite as good as the Vikes have been doing recently.

this draft was destined to be an offseason footnote anyway.

Hopefully, the two main things to come out of it are a really good starting G and our GM being a little more conservative wheeling and dealing draft picks.

I imagine he spent 70% of the draft shopping online for no show socks at Neiman Marcus.

There's simply too much poured into the personnel dept / draft research to have another 5 pick draft during this regime.

The offseason has been great otherwise, and its probably not done yet.

On paper, if JJM plays as well as Nix we'll be in great shape.

If he's a little slower to develop ... oh well ... it won't be the supporting cast.

He will most likely become the Browns starting QB before the end of this season and have a good career. If we had drafted him he would have eventually started a game or two that McCarthy misses and we could keep him or trade him for a 2nd or 1st round pick down the road.

with some players, there's too much baggage that comes with them...i always imagined shadeur going to a down and out team that deion would coach into a bizarre 3-4 year ride...the given town, team, and nfl would embrace it all as a wild weekly media event, and even if/when it ultimately crashed would have sparked interest which included a non-traditional football crowd....

i was not looking forward to this, mind you....

Let’s all savor the unmatched results of Hockenson and this:

2024 Draft:
The Vikings traded away their second, third, and fourth-round picks in 2025, plus a late-round pick swap in 2024 and a fifth-rounder in 2025 to move up from 42nd overall to 17th.

Dallas turner..

Obviously worth every penny of pick value..

I agree with your thinking. Having two high potential young QB's on the roster would not have been a bad move. For all we know Sanders will be a HOF QB and McCarthy will be bust. Reality is most 1st round QB's end up being busts or backups at best. Having two unproven young QB's on your roster greatly increases your odds of ending up with one better than average QB.

I don't know that I see Shedeur Sanders as a first round talent. I think his rank says more about the premium placed on the position and the weak qb class than it does about Sanders as a prospect. He fell to the 5th round for a reason. The Giants traded into the first round and drafted a qb not named Shedeur Sanders for a reason. From what I have read, teams that interviewed Sanders left their meetings saying yikes.
