Anyone think we need to see JJ McCarthy any more?

LMFAO!!!!

Nah man, dude didn't look great in his first two starts. We should cut him.

PS - if you look at Wentz's play in the last game before Rodgers scored more points than the whole CIN offense and the game got out of hand, he was mediocre. Took some bad sacks. Maybe we should cut him, too.

Kevin O’Connell said Donovan Jackson had surgery in Los Angeles this morning on a wrist injury he suffered against the Falcons. Doctors determined he could play against the Bengals before the surgery without additional harm; the surgery timeline was planned last week.

KOC hoping that Jackson can return after the bye. Won’t go on IR.

If that's true, why not keep playing with the injury?

God you are stupid…

Because odds are it is very painful (if I was to guess).

KOC said Jackson could have and would have played the year out, but he thought it in the best interests of a young player to take care of it now.

After a week 1 struggle, the Lions don't look like they miss Ben Johnson at all.

Some really creative playcalling last night on offense and their new IOL dominated Baltimore.

Lions tore the Ravens apart on both lines of scrimmage: 224 rushing yards and 7 sacks.

To me, at this point in a very young career, his mobility is one of his weapons that has clearly already shown to be something that's a positive for him,

Yet, other than a boot leg keeper in the Chi game I did not see a designed run for JJM.

Lions were dominant in run blocking, very impressive for a "rebuilt" line.
Ravens also struggled to generate pass rush.
(the were missing Madubuike?)

One silver lining is Goff did struggle when pressured... especially up the middle... hoping Vikes can neutralize the passing game when they play.

Freakin' Lions looked ready for the playoffs tomorrow. Long season of course ... so we'll see.

Wasn't impressed with Lamar's night though, the pass rush was great but he stepped into a few sacks. His lack of evasiveness, to my eye, was only partly the defense.

If the Falcons / Robinson spanked us (I don't care who was injured) ... Gibbs and Montgomery are going to demoralize us.

I know I'm a broken record but, the defense starting slow and playing better as the season goes along ... into a playoff worthy defense ... will be a first for the Vikings with Flores.

Really hoping we get there. And with something more than trickery, fakery and chicanery.

Last year it looked like it might be the Lions season, I had them picked before the season to face the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, but they came up short to a team we shouldn't sleep on this year either: the Eagles.

I have a theory that everyone can run the same maximum speed with practice. You just need to move your legs as fast as possible.

That is a GREAT one Twinsfan!!! 😂

I am hoping to see McCarthy play more, but will take a 16-1 ride, if Wentz can provide that.

IF Wentz leads the team to a victory on the road this season, to a team that makes the playoffs, at that point I will no longer want to see McCarthy, and will want Wentz to play for the Vikings during the playoffs, assuming they make it at that point.

According to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the team wanted to travel to Ireland early in the week. However, the NFL reportedly blocked these plans, wanting both teams to arrive at the same time.

"FYI, the Steelers wanted to go over early in the week, but the NFL said no and making each [team] arrive at the same time," Dulac wrote. "I don't know the exact reason for the change... Maybe it has to do with something about a competitive advantage. But it wasn't the Steelers decision."

I like our chances better if Cashman, Van Ginkel, and Harry are all available.

Let’s not kid ourselves..
The Lions are the best team in the north..

Why?

Because they worked to build a team for a long run, not a “ win now.. “

They have issues with contracts and future players, but the Vikings are now where they were 3-4 years ago.. working out of Los ass players, getting too much money, and digging out of some horrible, horrible management decisions..
We started with a coach and GM, got out from under an albatross PzoS QB and contract, made as good as could out of a limited # of draft pick..

Yea there were mistakes made..

But being tied for the lead, is better than looking up..

Winning divisional game and conference games is a huge barometer.

We are 2-1..

We need to get to 4-1 and the bye week without further injury..

Obviously. Every team wishes they were healthier.

Who know’s down the road, who’s going to be healthier.

I’m not going to forecast being healthier than the next guy though … when you suck at drafting and pull in talent from a pre-existing condition medicare list …

Regardless, I still believe the defense can turn a corner and play much better than the first two games, injuries aside. Browning/Bengals vs Rogers’ outrageous performance aside.

I don't think McCarthy is really hurt that bad. There was a doctor on NFL Sirius XM Radio last week saying he could have played if needed.

I think O'Connell has seen enough to know that the kid is not ready to play at the NFL level. The minor ankle injury is a convenient excuse. 14 wins looked a lot better than five.

If KOC thinks McCarthy isn't ready, he doesn't need to go through a sham injury. All he has to do is start Wentz. What do you think that would do to McCarthy and the locker room if KOC pulled a stunt like that? The kid would never be taken seriously again. KOC would lose all credibility in the locker room.

What does a random doctor on Sirius know about the extent of McCarthy's injury without having access to his files or McCarthy?

That whole week was completely suspicious. They declared McCarthy out before a full evaluation had even been made. Generally speaking, a guy isn't ruled out from an ankle sprain until Tuesday.

I have a lot of friends that agree with me. It's not like I'm the only one thinking it. I don't think JJ McCarthy is badly hurt. If you are the starting quarterback and you can play, you would be called upon to play.

If the Vikings rip off three more wins without him, they would be dumb as hell to put him back in.

Again, that comment has no credibility coming from you. Cousins was 13-4, while putting up big numbers with a worse team and you said he was one of the 10 worst QB in football.

The same criteria now makes Darnold a savior. The biggest difference between Cousins in 22 and Darnold in 24 is that Cousins played a lot better in his playoff game than Darnold did in his.

What a ridiculous 'rule'. If they want to get there 2 years ahead of the game or 2 seconds, that's on them. Why restrict what the other team can do?

Not really when you factor in Strength of Schedule......I would actually rather have Jones if we had no cap over Cousins, JJ, and Wentz. With JJ getting more time to watch just like Mahomes, Brady, and Rodgers did. That was KOC's preference.

Who was your preference again?

Nope. Cousins wasn't the answer. Neither was Darnold. They took too long to move on from one and didn't waste time and money moving on from the other. McCarthy is 22 and could still be the guy. If he isn't, move on from him too.

So much for the 'based on the last four games KOC's offense has been figured out' theory.

The common denominator was bad QB play, for two different reasons from two different QBs. And at least JJM had one quarter where he played well while Darnold's choke job in his two games was, to coin an overused term, epic.
