Detroit extended Jamison Williams at 25ml per. Addison has way better numbers so that is what it will cost for him.

Nailor at 12ml per makes more sense considering we're cash strapped.

Saw your post and wondered how they did that with all their high salaries. OverTheCap shows they stashed $40 million in a 2030 void year, maybe until the dust settles.

Goff's cap is averaging $62 million per over the next three years, starting with $70 million next year. Fun stuff!

Going all in and they have very good chance of missing playoffs this year.

Their void year money is off the charts... Hutchinson $45M, St. Brown $17M, others, and now Williams $40M. Their GM makes Kwesi look like a spendthrift.

At least he knows how to draft.

He benefitted from choosing in the top 1-5 positions a few times.

+1
Even though he has been utilized up the seams on throws more the last 2-3 weeks....still overpaid.

Sign Nailor
Trade Addison
Trade or cut Hockenson
Cut Hargrave

Restructure Allen, Greenard and Van Ginkel. Maybe O'Neill

This should give us plenty of cap space to operate in FA

Draft Notre Dame RB or Ohio State safety. Maybe it takes a trade with Addison included to get up to get Safety.

There isn't much left to restructure with Van Ginkel and O'Neill. But Hock, Allen, and Greenard are all in the $22 per range for the next two years so maybe there is some room to maneuve.

Yes to cutting Hargrave and cut Hockenson.

I guess I should have said restructure/extension. We could turn base salaries into signing bonuses and extend contracts out a couple more years.

I think Greenard and Van Ginkel are worth it.

O"Neill. Not sure.

O'Neill, for the most part, is solid when he plays but has been more injury prone of late.

Pretty sure Brad H will be busy for a couple weeks. Sam against the Rams and primetime not going so well. Like we saw multiple times last year.

I love Darnold... for his redemption story, for last year being one of the most fun I watched in a while.

Was rooting for him tonight.

That being said... he struggles in big games... and that's why I was pretty ok moving on.
He is still young... but he's got a monkey on the back as of now.

WAIT

DID HE GET THE MONKEY OFF!
stayed tuned!

Yeah, was rooting for Sam...

While I still think the Rams are as good as there is this year, that was a gutty 4th quarter for Sam and the Seahags

some botched plays, like the red zone INT, but did what was needed

got a gift in the batted down pass, that was really a backward pass, so a fumble and a 2 pt conversion was despite Sam, but still got the win in OT

That was big time

Depends on Felton's development.

So far, 2 receptions for 19 yards.

Maybe he hasn't shown anything in practice but it has been a perfect storm for him to not get much of a chance. We have QB issues and then made the Thielen trade which was a joke.

BTW, another stellar performance from Thielen the other night. 1 catch and a botched onside kick non recovery.

At the very least design a handful of plays to get the kid the ball in space. He's very good with the ball in his hands.

Sam beat a better QB, with everything on the line, but he also had the game at home, he played poorly for plenty of the game, was bailed out by a punt return TD, a strange but very cool review on a 2 point conversion, a slight officials bias in his favor, but given enough chances, Sam made the plays at the end to win the game.

With that much support, a seasoned McCarthy would have won the game like Sam, but McCarthy probably would have won the game sooner.

2 bad picks by him again
a super flukey 2 pt conversion that shouldn't have counted
a punt return for a TD

Lets pump the breaks on Darnold last night.

why not give him credit?

Dude deserves some

He's not Superman, but he was a baller and while he missed some stuff (yes, some bad stuff in the red zone),

he also drove them down the field to be in position to do what was needed to win

I think most of the the Vikings team wishes they had him still compared to what we have...

McCarthy won't be ready till Jefferson's NEXT contract

Credit? Sure. You also just described a 22 YO first time starter to a tee 😀

The game last night was similar to our 1st Bears game.

I don't know why he can't be ready next year. If he finishes these next 3 games strong.

Exactly. Anoint JJM? Of course not, but pine for SD? Of course not. 22 YO, first time starter versus a 26 yo (back then) on his 3rd team and way more starts.

You can't compare what decision is better. It's too early. If you want to argue that SD gave us a better chance this year, sure. We can argue, but that easy argument isn't what a lot of fans are trying to argue. In the end, who gives you the chance to get a SB? It'll be years before that's answered.

What would be really cool (and I realize that this isn't real) is if JJM was healthy this year. What would the record look like? Both would have OLine issues so how would the offense, specifically, look different.

That's fair...not that I'm pining for Sam, but the hate he has received from this board seems like a weird reaction to how last season ended, despite a pretty great season overall, good chemistry with Jefferson...

maybe is it a stubborn hope that JJM is actually turning the corner and not just playing better against terrible defenses

maybe JJM's issues were more coaching failures

maybe it's an anti Brad thing lol

I agree, a little more credit would be ok, imo. I see several people listing all the things "he did wrong" but nowhere mentioning Kupp's fumble into the endzone preventing more points on the board before the half.

The reaction after witnessing a QB melt-down in a game that should have secured HFA followed by another QB melt-down in a 1st round loss? That weird reaction? To that ending?

The subsequent "hate" about his choke jobs and how crazy it would have been to give him a nine-figure contract after such choke jobs?

Looks like I tuned out a little early last night! I wish Sam nothing but the best.

Me too. I shut it off when LA had a 30-14 lead and Darnold just threw his second pick in the RZ around the 11 min mark. Big mistake but LA looked firmly in control of the game at that point.

That's why I turned it off. I didn't want to see LA win.

I blame O’Connell for those two big losses at the end of last season. I think he was doing to Darnold what he’s done to McCarthy most of the year. Called very slow developing deep deep receiver, please. That’s why Donald and McCarthy were getting sacked so much.

O'Connell called the same games that Darnold had played all year in piling up 14 wins. The offense was the same. The line was the same. The difference was that the stage was bigger. Darnold was also 27 year old vet in his 7th season. McCarthy is 22 and in his first season.

There were outlets open. Sam just got rattled from the pass rush. He looked like Mahommes did in the SB. But I get where your coming from. O'Connell needs to adjust and call some quick hitters and screen passes and he didn't.
