Alec Lewis final mock:

Round 1, No. 18: Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Oregon
Round 2, No. 49: Treydan Stukes, CB/S, Arizona
Round 3, No. 82: Kaleb Elarms-Orr, LB, TCU
Round 3, No. 97: Emmett Johnson, RB, Nebraska
Round 5, No. 163: Parker Brailsford, C, Alabama
Round 6, No. 197: Jalen Huskey, S, Maryland
Round 7, No. 234: Nick Barrett, DT, South Carolina
Round 7, No. 235: Harrison Wallace III, WR, Ole Miss
Round 7, No. 244: Jalen McMurray, CB, Tennessee

The more I read about Stukes the more I like him. The opposite for Sadiq … infallible pundit opinion has turned me against him lately … which means he’s a lock if available.

I was also just reading on espn that, this dt class is fairly weak but the next two are projecting as even weaker. Does that make you jump on someone this year earlier or resign yourself to free agency?

The D was really good last year in defensive ypc and 20+ yard rushes allowed. Near the top of the league. Pretty bad in rushing 1st down %, like maybe we can't stop 3rd and short.

The D was also near the top of the league in QBR and sacks.

So the stats back up the idea a lot of posters have advocated: draft a big DT/NT. Based on the stats above I'd be ok with a one-dimensional run-stopper type whose pass rushing isn't up to par. Maybe Lee Hunter in the 2nd round. McDonald would be good but will probably be taken in the 1st round. IMO the dropoff from McDonald to Hunter isn't that great, and you still have the 18th pick if you wait. Or trade down a bit and hope McDonald is there.

In short lol, address DT but not at the 18th spot.

I would not be happy with Sadiq at 18. He is a measurables king but his production last year was "meh".

Would be totally fine with S Thieneman and DT Hunter. Get a C in the third followed by RB or WR with the late third.

Too logical to work.

Sadiq then rb price then te more likely … KOC looking for someone to hug and Flores calling real estate agents. Until we land that nice plump rubenesque bowlegged dl in the 5th who’s too slow to rush the passer so he’s projecting inside.

I would not mind a small trade back in round 1, grab the S from Toledo, I want a fourth round pick!

A little over 48 hours from now the Vikings begin a Kwesi free draft, finally! I am curious how Brezenski (sp?) does, but I am confident it has to be better than Kwesi. I wish we knew what Harrison's plans are but we will still a safety this year one way or another. I am good if we wait to the 2nd or 3rd round as long as we get a stud the first round. No more failures! Nothing new here but we need a runningback (hopefully with speed), a center, and a corner. Hoping I can go to sleep Saturday night with positive feel about the draft. Skol!

Forgot another big need, a large defensive tackle that can push the pocket and stuff the run.

Tom's Flawed, Middling Prospect Draft Guide (using espn and nfl.com)

Some favorites outside the first couple of rounds

Safety A.J. Haulcy, LSU 5’11 215
4.52 1.62
Pedestrian testing numbers, built a little burly for a secondary player, but ...
Haulcy was voted ESPNs Best Enforcer in this year's secondary class (by their pundits) ... he also had 8 INTs the last two seasons, 1 more than ESPN's Best Ballhawk Bud Clark.
"Mr. Give Me That, is a throwback safety with a compact, densely muscled frame and a pro feel for reading the field. He’s a rare blend of ballhawk and enforcer who can scurry into passing lanes for takeaways or run through a receiver to break up a pass,"

WR Malik Bensen, Oregon 6’0 189
4.37 1.55 32.5 10’2
Not a lot of production, not a lot of athletic scores … beyond the 40 ... but ‘electric, track-caliber speed with above average ball skills’ and rare toughness for a speed guy. So, a deep threat with great hands, fearless running across the middle, and unflinching on contested catches.

RB Emmett Johnson, Nebraska 5’10 202
4.56 1.59 35.5” 10’0
ESPN’s Most Elusive Rusher in this year’s class (48 tackles missed third most in the nation), was also sixth in the nation for breaking tackles (45 tackles) and was also a big contributor in the passing game… so pretty good overall … even if his measurables are pedestrian. Well, he had the best RB shuttle time at the combine and fourth best 10 yd split for what that’s worth.

DT Jordan Van Den Berg Georgia Tech 6'3 310
Pro Day - 4.94 1.61 36" 35 Benchpress
Moved to US as a ten year old from South Africa. 3 quiet years at Penn St then better production and technique at Georgia Tech. Had a crazy pro day – which I'm usually cynical about – but he has a reputation as an incredible worker, student of the game and started to show some real development last season: All-ACC in 2025, 13 games 44T 11TFL 3 S 1blocked kick. In shorts at his pro day, "Displayed rare blend of quickness, explosiveness and power..."

You dont think thats a total need pick?

We’ll see, nobody really knows but a lot of draftniks are wondering if a DT will be drafted in the first rd at all much less 18.

I dont have a feel for these things … I could see him in the third, not sure how fast safeties will go.

I’ll take any one of the top 5-6 safeties, wherever that ends up being.

I’m wondering if we have any interest in the edge/de inside-outside dudes like Falk, Young and maybe Mesidor as a way of improving the DL.

Since they seem higher rated than any of the DTs.

Maybe after a small trade down?

The latter Dallas pick is at #20. Seeing how Jones likes to get camera time, I can see him trading to #18 just for the attention.

Points wise, they give us a 4th. We return a 6th.

Yeah, as much as BPA sounds good I want them to add talent to the DL. S/CB too. Either order.

Rounds 1-2 - BPA defense.

The center group is very underrated. It's actually a really good year to need a center. Iowa's Logan Jones has second- or third-round upside, and Auburn's Connor Lew and Florida's Jake Slaughter (super underrated) look like picks for the third or fourth round. Texas A&M's Trey Zuhn III and Duke's Brian Parker II are both moving from offensive tackle to center, and they join Kansas State's Sam Hecht to round out a really strong group. I also like Michigan State's Matt Gulbin as a late-round steal. We're not talking about these centers enough.

Take a real center in the 3rd. Real as opposed to a converted G or T because there is no game footage of them at C.
