They are playing so good.

Teams struggle keeping the puck in their offensive zone against us.

We've won three games by a combined score of 16-4 since Hughes arrived.

To me the most impressive thing is all of the AHL guys coming up from Iowa and slotting right in and playing very good hockey. Missing 3 regular forwards and 4 defensemen and not missing a beat. I guess Judd really has done a great job of building a solid team of prospects.

The Wild are doing this with a lot of players on the shelf. Carson Lambos made debut last night after Daemon Hunt went on IR.That brings the total to 7 players on the shelf.

The new Russian line continues to produce with Yurov starting to come into his own. He is drawing attention from the other teams now. Coyle was cross-checking him every chance he got. Yurov stood up to it pretty well.

The Wild are doing it the old fashioned way. It's built from the back - out. Start with elite goal tending from both goalies. Then add tight defense that forces everything to the perimeter and moves the puck out of the zone fast. Then create opportunities with the forecheck. Hughes has drastically changed the dynamic with zone entry. You can't emphasize the importance of zone entries enough. It's the difference between chasing the puck deep and controlling the puck deep.

I admit I over-reacted when the trade was announced. To hear we traded away three guys that we used first round picks on, and who seemed like they were good assets to our team felt like we had given away the bank. But hearing the talking heads on tv talk about it, and hearing/seeing more of Hughes has me sold. Nice beatdown of the Capitals last night.

I did the same. Glad to be wrong so far. Let’s get a Cup!

It may be that Rossi and Beium aren't as high end currently as we thought they are/were?

It's actually pretty easy. Rossi hasn't played much and Yurov has made him obsolete. Buium can 'hope' to get to the level Hughes plays but he's got a long road to get there. The confidence boost that he brought alone is rubbing off on everyone. I was yelling at he and Brock to stop being so damn cute in our own zone. In doing that Brock gave up a cheap TO that led to their first goal. Faber never played like that until now. Get healthy and this team can get scary.

Zulgad brought up a great point on his hockey pod last night. What do you do with Boldy when Zuc is back? Are you really going to break up the Russian line if they keep playing this way? You can't send him to the 3rd

Why not? Boldy with Hartman and Foligno could be one hell of a 3rd line and a real match up killer for other teams.

He’s too valuable for that type of role, imo. Thats a super grinder line.

My guess is Zuc replaces Trenin on the second line.

Zuc to 2nd line and Trenin to 3rd makes sense if you don't mind breaking up the Russian line. Trenin and Foligno hitting everything in site makes for a good 3rd line too. The way things have gone lately someone else will get hurt when Zuccy makes it back making Hynes do another reshuffle....

#mnwild reassign Aube-Kubel and Spacek. Curious if there could be more. Impression I got yesterday is Wild expect a number of players back this weekend

Haynes moves lines so much that KK plays the third or second line also.

Jake Middleton, Mats Zuccarello and Vinnie Hinostroza also just activated off IR. Zach Bogosian and Daemon Hunt placed on IR.

So Brodin, Middleton, Zuccarello, Hinostroza and Johansson all eligible to return

It will be interesting to see what the lineup will be this afternoon. I suspect if he's in the lineup it will be Brodin matching up with McDavid as usual, most likely partnered up with Spurg. The 3rd pair Middleton and Jiricek? With 3 forwards eligible to play it's anybody's guess on who Hynes comes up with after hitting the button on the blender.....
It looks like we may be going without the AHL line for the first time in ages.

Should be another good one tomorrow with the Avs. That entire Russian line has been really good and Yurov keeps getting better every game, it's fun to watch.

Another big one today. This time yesterday I would have said "2 pts out of these 2 would be a good result". The stakes have risen. Lets get all 4!

Looks like the lads ran into a bit of a buzzsaw on the second day of back to backs. Colorado is just damn good.

And we looked like our legs were dead and just couldn't keep up. As long as they take care of business tomorrow against the Preds and go into the break on a good note and don't let the loss bother them we should be good.
