Aaron Jones had been playing since Week 2 with a sprained left MCL before yesterday's injury.

Vikings RB Aaron Jones’ knee injury that he suffered during Sunday’s win over the Colts is not considered to be significant at this time, and a source described him as “day to day.”

Well, this I have to disagree with....
By going up by six, you put the game in the hands of your defense, make the other team have to score a TD against a Defense that was stifling their passing game for the most part. and hasn't given up a fourth quarter TD. I fully agreed with this call.

I agree, if you make the kick you make them score a TD to win. But if you miss a 59-yarder (or get it blocked), the other team just needs a couple first downs to get a FG....

I would have played the odds and pinned them deep - 100% of the time.

IMHO, KOC is lucky that didn't blow up in his face.

One last gripe: when you win the toss, defer. ESPECIALLY when your strength is defense. You're not the smartest dude in the room, KOC.

My .02

I was at this game. First time to actually attend a game, and it if weren't for cost, I would do it more frequently.

Defense is just stifling. Blake Cashman was everywhere. The defense was having a problem getting off the field on 3rd downs it seemed. Too many 3rd down conversions allowed. I don't get why any team thinks they can just put a TE on Dallas Turner and hope he can be blocked....

Kyler Murray is not the long term answer and I may very well turn very quickly on Nolan Teasley if they keep him after this year. Offense seems flat but at the same time, I am starting to think this is the gameplan. Play it close to the vest, don't take too many chances, protect the football, win time of possession ( which they didn't in this game) keep the oppsing offense off the field and the defense fresh and don't turn the ball over, to give the other team a short field, and let the defense take over the game.

Murray did make a couple brutal throws in this game though.

Nice having Mason back. he was getting some hard yards. We could however use a RB with vision like Jonathan Taylor.....that man got a lot of his yards through holes that were just barely a hole... our guys would not have been able to do that.

Bummer on Reichard getting that one kick blocked, but this offense does need to stop stalling out so he has to kick 55+ yarders all the time.

Nice to see Jajuan Jenning finally do something.

With a better QB, the pass catching trio of JJ, Addison and Hockenson ought to scare the shit out of opposing DCs. Murray just doesn't work. But again, that could be gameplan too. The problem now is that gameplan isn't going to work as well in the coming weeks when you have the Lions, Bills, Packers, and 49ers and Falcons for that matter on the docket. these teams can all score. I trust our defense to keep us close but the offense NEEDS to stop up a bit.

and that means Murray has to start looking a lot more competent.

Nice to keep winning. But he next month is going to tell us a lot about our team.

There does some to be some intentionality behind the flatness. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Unlike 2022 and 2024 when it felt like we were sailing through the season, with little change in approach first game to last game ... and why would we when you're racking up wins? Until you get shredded at the end of the season by teams that are peaking.

This feels a little bit more like a big picture building process ... trying to develop the run / manage the clock to help the QB and defense while they sharpen their spears for the real battle ahead. (the defense was also a letdown at the end of 2022 and 2024)

Often the flatness is just poor play of course. And maybe we'll just flatline at some point (again).

I'm hoping that unlike 2022 and 2024, we actually see the requirement for improving our attack to end up peaking in game 16 or 17 instead of just getting it done game 1 thru 15.

A trajectory more reliant on a rugged, well-rounded team than fancy pants offense and tricky defense.

I have no problem with a "flat" ball control offense.
With this defense that makes a ton of sense... don't turn the ball over and you will have a shot to win.

But for that to work Murray has to be efficient.
Missed serveral big throws to open guys yesterday.
He also was late on a number of throws which would have been easy first downs... he is either processing slow or just indecisive... allowing the db to recover make a play.

I thought Murray was making steady progress but yesterday was a step back and that is concerning.

I couldn't agree more.

My biggest concern with Murray when they signed him...and I understood why they did, athlatic ability, success already in the NFL, cheap...was that he had a poor work ethic and could be injury prone. Both issues have reated their ugly heads with this guy. I am not enamored.

KOC's offence is very complicated. they had a point where they showed Murray calling a play in the huddle on the big board during the game and the verbiage clearly took a long time to spit out, It just kept going on and on and on. They need to find a way to simplify the playcalling down. Players that I respect and loved the most were the ones that worked the hardest to be the best, the Adam Theilen's of the world. QBs that want it really bad are there early and stay late to get better. Murray just seems to be going through the motions expecting his athletic ability to carry him to success.

He is NOT a long term answer.

Once Murray signed, most people figured he would be the starter but I don't think anyone thought he would be the answer (as in leading the team deep into the playoffs or similar).

There were some side comments on possible end-results where there was a small chance he plays well enough to be a candidate for a big multi-year contract. But even then there were questions/doubts about whether he could live up to such a contract.

The offense is bad and the QB position is a gigantic questionmark. Until that changes in a significant and consistent way, it will stay that way and will be Teasley's mess to fix.

Mine was scheme/fit, especially in light of thinking KOC is not going to change much for the new QB.

All three concerns have been an issue.

KOC hinted that Kyler checked to the run multiple times in the first 4 and out after the big kick return.

It’s only one game, but I’m real curious about how McCarthy plays for the Giants. In his first start in a simplified offense, McCarthy was at least an efficient game manager. He was 20 of28 for 250 yards. While he had no touchdowns, McCarthy did lead the Giants to 4 touchdown drives.

Outside of the GB game were we were down more than 10 points have we had a game where we have needed to pass every down to try and catch up?

I don't think the Giants were down many points at any time yesterday. It's probably just weird at this point seeing other teams qbs pass for more than 200 yards.

Our offense is terrible so it never happens and our defense is amazing so the opposing team never does either.

I don't see it as that.....teams pass when they are down. We had 136 yards rushing so you have to take that into account. We have been running the ball better actually.

There were a couple plays that would have made it better....Addison catch and no holding call, Juan Jennings catch at the goal line, and Kyler seeing Juan wide open in the middle. Other plays of course some have listed. (A couple horrible passes to Mason....one where he was wide open).

While Jonathon Tayler is still very nifty running the ball the guy was an absolute liability in pass protection which Flores exposed repeatedly.

What's worse is we have one of the lowest rated offenses in the NFL. Our talent on offense is not that bad. You have to point a finger at the coaching at this point in time.

O'Connell's offense has looked broken since the Det/LAR games that ended in 2024.

McCarthy's passing led to 4 TDs, if the Vikings had passing that led to 2 TDs early on, they would probably winning those games by 4 TDs, with 2 TDs from the defense, and then heavy running in the 2nd half.

So far this year the offense has scored 9 TDs in 7 games, tied for 32nd.

For a bit of perspective, the three other teams with the fewest touchdowns are a combined 2-17 (1-5, 1-6, 0-6). They have given up about 154 points on average (151, 156, 156). It's not like that is terrible, as 15 teams have given up more points. It's close to middle of the road.

The points allowed help illustrate the impact of Flores defense (and to a lesser degree Special Teams). If the defense was similar to those three teams, we'd likely have a similar record. Maybe not as bad because it's a rough correlation and we have team MVP Will Reichard, but 2-4 is feasible in that scerario.

Without improvement on offense, the D will have to crank it up to absolute historic dominance to have a chance to win the SB. It does help that most of the NFC's projected playoff teams are struggling.
