I think our secondary will have to rise to the occassion during this game. McGahee seems to run hot and cold and our run D should shut him down pretty easily. It's Flacco and that damn soft zone to the TE that worries me. It's not like opposing teams have been completing 10-15 yard passes down the middle w/ their TE's. These have been huge gains of 20 and 30+ yarders. We'll need the Williams sisters to collapse that pocket and make Flacco very uncomfortable. Jared can't do it on his own every week. That, combined w/ deafening crowd noise and long drives to wind their defense should pull us through to victory. Just play keep away.

Well KW had 3 tackles and a key sack last week so perhaps he is waking up from his slumber.

PW had 4 tackles after 0 the week before.

I like how PW is annoyed with Birk questions...I think he will pound him just because of that!

I also think that the players have heard enough about being unable to defend the TE that  they will be particularly cognizant of that...my biggest worry is of their running game torching us on cutbacks.  We are great at flowing to the ball and stuffing the run at the POA, but too often we let them reverse field and nobody is "home"...we have to stay disciplined!

I do NOT feel good about this game.  I was picking the Packers and 49ers to beat the Vikes, but switched to the Vikes on gameday.  Last week I picked the Vikes to win a lopsided win, and so did everyone else.

I doubt that I will switch tomorrow morning, but you never know.  I think this is NOT a good matchup for the Vikes, and the Ravens coming off of 2 losses is a very bad thing.

I think the Ravens can win without help from the officials, but IF the officials help out any team, I suspect it will be the Ravens.

I am concerned about how much the Vikes DL is getting held this year without getting calls.  The refs may be thinking the line is so effective even without calling those holds, but it is giving opponents an unfair advantage.  The holds MUST start getting called.  The guys on the line need to start pleading with the officials early in the game so they get some calls on it later in the game, and if they don't it will become apparent and they MIGHT have to give one at a crucial junction or risk looking biased, or that the game might have been 'swayed'.

The Ravens will get up early, Flacco will play nearly flawless and Rice and McGahee will run well.  The Ravens will bring more heat from their defense then the Vikes have seen all year, Favre will struggle, and with the way Peterson is running, he's going to have a tough time running on THIS defense.

I see a lopsided LOSS.

Ravens 33
Vikings 7

The only TD the Vikes will get will come in the middle of the 4th quarter, TJACK throwing it to Berrian.  Favre will get benched with 10 minutes to play, the Vikes down 30-0.

Another game day switch.  The Vikes will WIN this one, and win on a fluke play !

IF this game was at Baltimore, I think the Vikes would be in trouble, and a 33-7 LOSS might be a real possibility.  This years' Viking team is NOT going to lose like that at home.  They are mostly healthy, are playing well, and are making good halftime adjustments.

While I still think this will be a TOUGH game, I think the Vikes will find a way to pull it out.  I don't think AP will do that much, I think his back is still hurting, along with Hutch, and the Ravens can stop the run.  This game, like the 49er game will need to be won by Favre.  Hopefully he can find holes in the Ravens' 2ndary, and not make S Ed Reed the defensive player of the week.

The Vikes will go ahead with 1 minute left on the clock on a pass intended for Berrian in the endzone.  The pass will bounce off Berrian's hands and into the waiting arms of Percy Harvin for the go ahead TD.

The Ravens will be driving the field, but Heap (who was having a GREAT game until that point) will catch a pass but have the ball knocked out by a hard hitting EJ Henderson.

Every week you go back and forth on your predictions which I give you credit for at least making them.

I cant tell if you are a Vikings fan or not.

Sometimes I think you are when you talk about them getting Boldin or someone like that.

Then I think that you are not when you predict them to lose especially against GB.

Maybe you like more than one team?

Maybe you like to bet on games?

Anyway, please don't take offense but I like your current prediction better.

Personally, I think it will be a pretty hard fought game between two evenly matched teams that could go either way.

I think the Vikings will win and pull away late.

33 - 17.

Mark

Last week I stayed put.  49ers, GB, and now the Ravens are all home games where I changed my mind and picked the Vikes on gameday.

Just because I think the Vikes might lose to GB, does NOT mean I'm not a Vikings' fan.  It could mean I got a little too influenced by my local media in Wisconsin.

At this point, I'm starting to believe (and hoping) that I was WRONG about getting Boldin.  He's not really necessary if Rice keeps tearing it up.  This WR corps, so far has played quite well.

Brett Favre has actually played BETTER than I had expected, but I would STILL like to see him complete some deep passes (say 40 yards or more) on a rope, to keep defenses honest.  The one to Rice was an underthrow, but you CAN get away with that when you have a WR like Rice.  Some of the college highlights had Rice plucking down balls like that, and sometimes getting some good YAC afterwards.

THAT's funny !

I've been right on every switch, so far.

I'm going with the Steelers this week, and since the game is away, there is little chance I'll switch on gameday.

The Steelers are a well coached team, that unfortunately has an ex-coach there who probably wouldn't mind beating the Vikes.  The Steelers still want to show they are the champs, they are mostly healthy with dreadlocks now getting back into the flow.

The Steelers will hit hard, probably cause some turnovers, whether it's from the Vikings smaller WRs, an AP with a banged up back, or a QB that has more INTs than any QB in the history of the game.  Regression to the mean says it's time for a QB that is playing at such a high level, to start giving some away on the road.  I find it hard to believe he can keep playing at this level.

IF Favre keeps playing at this level, it is also possible that in the next 2 games where I fully expect losses, the Vikes come away with 2 wins and enter the bye at 8-0. THAT would be a WOW !

Do you think any NFL coach minds beating any opponent?

Unfortunately I see a loss coming this week.  We're on the road, outdoors, inclement weather, banged up and playing a hungry team that can exploit our biggest weakness (pass D).

What inclement weather?  It's supposed to be 55 and sunny in Pitt.  add in the heat of the sun and it'll probably feel close to 60.

Actually the field will probably be in horseshit condition from Saturdays rain and the Saturday Pitt college game.
