San Diego at Tennessee
The Titans are much improved with Vince Young.  However, the Chargers are on another level altogether.  Just like when the Titans stepped up in class and lost to the Colts, I see them outmanned in this game.  Chargers 34-23

Buffalo at Atlanta
Someone here predicted a sophomore slump for ATL and they were right.  I thought that they would take the next step forward.  Salvage some pride here.  Falcons 27-13

Kansas City at Cincinnati
The Bengals have lost too many players to be competitive this year.  They need to recover and then rebuild this offseason as a promising season ends in tragedy.  I think they have enough to get by KC.  Bengals 23-17

Oakland at Cleveland
The Raiders keep surprising you with an upset win every month.  Then they fall back apart again.  I have no idea about this game!  The Raiders beat Denver and Pittsburgh (on the road) but got crushed by Washington in the last 3 weeks.  Going with home dog though - Browns 30-27

Seattle at Green Bay
Holmgren II looks cooked whereas Holmgren I can still put points up on the board.  Packers 38-17

Baltimore at Pittsburgh
Last gasp for the champs.  Can they put together 2 good weeks in a row and hurt the Ravens playoff drive?  I think so.  Steelers 21-17

Houston at Miami
Texans always play better once they are out of the picture.  Texans 27-23

Jacksonville at New England
Huge game for the Jags.  They can not afford to lose another one whereas the Pats are up 2 games in their division.  That should point to a Jax win but I just can't trust them on the road against a good team.  Their only road wins are against the Texans and Jets.  I say Brady holds them off .  Pats 24-21

Tampa Bay at New Orleans
The Saints have their loss so they can relax now.  However, they are still banged up on both sides of the ball and I think this game will be closer than it should be.  Saints 31-23

Carolina at NY Giants
The Panthers rose up and shocked the Vikings but I think that they shot their load last week.  The Giants are starting to play good football on both sides of the ball.  Eli is already having his best year ever.  I see the G-Men as a very dangerous team right now and they will jump all over the Panthers.  Giants 37-17

Detroit at San Francisco
The 49ers, while improved, proved not yet ready to play with the big boys.  My wild guess says that either McNabb or Vick is their QB next year and they take over the AFC West.  But this year they miss the playoffs.  Culpepper really looks bad this year and won't get much done here either.  49ers 23-13

St. Louis at Arizona
Cards have not played well since torching the Vikings.  They are still a little banged up but need this game to keep hope alive for the 3 seed.  Cards 31-10

NY Jets at Indianapolis
I think Caldwell takes a different tack and goes for 19-0 instead of resting players.  If he does that, the Jets go down.  Reavis can help keep it close for a while but Peyton normally destroys blitzing teams.  Colts 24-12

Denver at Philadelphia
The return of Brian Dawkins to Philly.  It could also be the return of Westbrook and Maclin to an already potent Eagles lineup.  The Broncos will score some points but I think the Eagles have too much overall firepower to lose this one.  Eagles 34-23

Dallas at Washington
Washington completely quit last week and Dallas is fired up.  This one could get ugly early.  I know many people think Wash will show some pride and play hard.  I don't.  Cowboys 41-16

Minnesota at Chicago
This is a game the Vikings will come out and take it to the Bears.  The Vikings are better at every position and need to put together a solid game.  Chicago will try and rally their troops around winning this game as making their season but I don't see it.  This game helps Brett and Bard bury the hatchette and move on.  This game the defense will shut down the Bears leading some here to mistakenly claim that last week was just an abberation and the pass defense isn't that bad.  It is.  It is just that the Bears are toothless like the Bengals were.  Vikings 38-13

Ho Ho Ho

This could be a 1st John, I'm going along with ALL of your picks, except I think the last 2 games will be closer than you think.

No, I can't do it.  I think the Ravens will beat Pittsburgh by a FG, unless Cundiff misses in the final seconds.

This week I go out on a limb and speculate that Favre makes no audibles, runs the plays that are sent in, and we lose the game by a FG. After the game, Favre takes the high road and goes the team player route and throws no one under the bus publicly.

However, in the locker room, Favre wears an "I told you so" smile and the rest of the team knows exactly what happened. Internally the team blames Childish for being, well, childish when it comes to inflexibility in the offense and for not allowing the future HOF QB to audible out of dead plays.

This info is leaked to the media resulting in an even greater onslaught of headlines, etc., in the coming week. The distraction leads to a loss to the Giants. We squeak into the playoffs and lose in the first round. Two days after the loss, Childress is fired and we begin the search for a new HC.

All of this, of course, goes out the window if AP rushes for 200 on Monday night.

Just for fun, how many would accept the above scenario if it meant getting a new HC?

Pretty close with the Chargers getting a little more and the Titans getting a little less than I expected.

Buffalo at Atlanta
Someone here predicted a sophomore slump for ATL and they were right.  I thought that they would take the next step forward.  Salvage some pride here.  Falcons 27-13
Pretty close with the Falcons getting a little more and the Bills getting a little less than I expected.

Kansas City at Cincinnati
The Bengals have lost too many players to be competitive this year.  They need to recover and then rebuild this offseason as a promising season ends in tragedy.  I think they have enough to get by KC.  Bengals 23-17
Pretty close again with one less score for each.

Raiders didn't really show up for this one 23-9

Seattle at Green Bay
Holmgren II looks cooked whereas Holmgren I can still put points up on the board.  Packers 38-17
Pretty close with the Packers getting a little more and the Seahawks getting a little less than I expected.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh
Last gasp for the champs.  Can they put together 2 good weeks in a row and hurt the Ravens playoff drive?  I think so.  Steelers 21-17
Pretty close 23-20

Houston at Miami
Texans always play better once they are out of the picture.  Texans 27-23
Pretty close 27-20

Jacksonville at New England
Huge game for the Jags.  They can not afford to lose another one whereas the Pats are up 2 games in their division.  That should point to a Jax win but I just can't trust them on the road against a good team.  Their only road wins are against the Texans and Jets.  I say Brady holds them off .  Pats 24-21
Jags forgot to show up for this one 35-7

Tampa Bay at New Orleans
The Saints have their loss so they can relax now.  However, they are still banged up on both sides of the ball and I think this game will be closer than it should be.  Saints 31-23
I thought it would be close but didn't think the Bucs would win!

Wow, did the Giants have me fooled or what?

Detroit at San Francisco
The 49ers, while improved, proved not yet ready to play with the big boys.  My wild guess says that either McNabb or Vick is their QB next year and they take over the AFC West.  But this year they miss the playoffs.  Culpepper really looks bad this year and won't get much done here either.  49ers 23-13
Pretty close 20-6

St. Louis at Arizona
Cards have not played well since torching the Vikings.  They are still a little banged up but need this game to keep hope alive for the 3 seed.  Cards 31-10
BINGO!

NY Jets at Indianapolis
I think Caldwell takes a different tack and goes for 19-0 instead of resting players.  If he does that, the Jets go down.  Reavis can help keep it close for a while but Peyton normally destroys blitzing teams.  Colts 24-12
Well, I didn't count on Caldwell pulling the starters and I was wrong

Denver at Philadelphia
The return of Brian Dawkins to Philly.  It could also be the return of Westbrook and Maclin to an already potent Eagles lineup.  The Broncos will score some points but I think the Eagles have too much overall firepower to lose this one.  Eagles 34-23
A little closer than I thought but the Eagles left at least 10 points on the field with very bad play calling and fumbling 2 kickoffs.  The Broncos 4 scoring drives in the 2nd half averaged something like 20 yards each.  Eagles 30-27

Well, Lil John kicked my butt this week.  He got every game right so far and he may end up taking the season total unless I can bounce back next week.

Hate to say it but I feel another loss to a substandard team, however, they have better coaching which makes the difference.

Wow, it would have been hard to miss that one worse.

They have better coaching? Their team gave up. Coughlin looked like a guy wanting to be fired.

Given the way we had been playing against sub par teams, I had a real bad feeling about this game. I would say about 95% of the NFL has better coaching than us. Today everybody was in the zone and the Giants rolled over. If we play like this for the next three games I'll be ecstatic to be wrong!!

Random predictions in no particular order:

With Farvee on the roster the Vikings will find themselves benefitting from PLENTY of favorable calls from the refs.  We will be on the 'good' side of Marty's 'sway scale' more than we have ever ever known as Vike's fans.

Didn't really seem to happen imo.

Our record will be either 15-1 or 14-2.

Damn it!

AD and Chester Taylor will BOTH combine for over 1000 yards rushing and receiving.

Nope.

Shianco will catch 60+ passes for 800-900 yards.

Close.

Berrian will have 3 games in which he catches AT LEAST 3 40+ yd TDs.

Nope.

AD wins MVP.

Doubt it.

In either the NFC Championship game or the Superbowl, the Vikes will lose in a fashion that is astonishing/crazy/unbelievble/spirit-crushing.  Hey - its still the Vikes right?  I don't know the details but it will forever be mentioned in the same tone as the Drew Pearson push-off, the Gary Anderson missed field goal, or just insert any other heartbreaking moment in Vikings history.

Son of a...

Now, if you will all excuse me, I have a sudden and uncontrollable urge to go buy some Wrangler Jeans.

Amen. All the way!

I think nowdays nearly every fan thinks their coaches are among the worst. I honestly think ours collectively fall in the slightly above average range.
